Exposing Reality

Second Class Citizens,

The US, ranked #128 is a "second tier" country on the Social Progress Index, of citizen well being. (Our infrastructure gets a "D+" rating, "D-" to "C+" in different categories.)

Plaintiffs file Motion for Protection in DNC Lawsuit. (Seth Rich and 4 others are dead. The Plaintiff's Attorney has reason to fear for his life.) Thanks, Tom.

David Stockman looks at the Washington DC moves to regain uncontested power by getting rid of the disruptive Donald Trump. Strong words from Stockman:
"Mueller is a card-carrying member of the Deep State who was there at the founding of today’s surveillance monster as FBI Director following 9/11. Since the whole $75 billion apparatus that eventually emerged was based on an exaggerated threat of global Islamic terrorism, Russia had to be demonized into order to keep the game going — a transition that Mueller fully subscribed to."

Jerusalem, Nicosa and WW-3, Gilad Atzmon
Stolen-Gas pipeline to Europe is the key to Israeli dominance. It is critical that it go through. No Iranian pipeline or Russian pipeline may be permitted. War!

US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, supports one cause, Israel. Thanks Eleni.

"Oil Prices are Like a Falling Knife" (Global economic reset is more than financial in this round.)

New Saudi Crown Prince is 31 year old Mohammed bin Salman, "Mr Everything", the "War Prince". (Dad is senile and not really running anything.)

Saudi Arabia and Israel are establishing (open) economic relations for the first time. That's clarifying, really. Thanks, Eleni.

Tulsi Gabbard's "Stop Arming Terrorists" bill gets only 13 supporters. (Somebody wants to decry terrorism, while supporting it, to justify wars of aggression for oil, gas and trade routes. Who?) Thanks Eleni.

The US acts like it wants to get rid of Assad, more than it wants to get rid of ISIS. ("By their works, ye shall know them.")

"US should mind it's own business; it shouldn't be in Syria", Ron Paul

The Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has warned that the likelihood of a catastrophic nuclear war is closer than since 1953.

The American Empire's War Machine is Running Out of Steam ("Go Nuclear! But first, increase funding.") The Empire is overextended, and what would your morale be when your idealism had to face up to reality after boot camp?

Meanwhile, in the capital of former global empire... There are mixed reviews of the movement of Grenfell Tower residents to a newly constructed (almost finished) block of nearby luxury apartments. Everybody likes it except the folks living there, who paid "undisclosed amounts", and are about to live in a slum.
“It’s so unfair,” said Maria, who was reading the news in the Evening Standard with two neighbours. She bought her flat two years ago for a sum she was unwilling to disclose. “We paid a lot of money to live here, and we worked hard for it. Now these people are going to come along, and they won’t even be paying the service charge.”

Summer Sun

Warming Hemispherically,

I remain thoughtful about the case for near-term human extinction, mostly by 2030, as I presented in Guy McPherson's work yesterday, 6/20/17.
I'm not going to try to negotiate that away. It is really hard to completely sterilize any surface, but our species may be the easier targets, except a few humans living in remaining natural areas, or subsistence farming..., except that their ecosystems will also be destroyed. The issue at hand is whether we are about to get 6 degrees C of global warming in a couple of decades, something that living ecosystems cannot quickly adapt to. You may have some kind of ecosystem after a thousand years, more after 10,000, and so on. That high temperature may drop hard after a thousand years. I don't know, and I will never know. You neither. Here is a graph of global mean temperature over the measurable life of our planet. The only time there has been a 6 degree C rise in temperature, suddenly, was at the Permian Extinction Event. What we are already locked into is faster than we think that was. The oceans are already dying, since they have been accepting most of the excess heat in recent decades. The Arctic ice cube is their thermal buffer. If critters like us do survive this century, it won't likely be with industrial civilization, which is bad and good, because industrial civilization is the cause of this predicament. Again, we can't really know much until later. Our species has existed in that little area of Pleistocene forward, under pretty stable climate conditions.
Pyrosomes, "fire bodies" are bizarre, glowing sea creatures, found in the warm equatorial oceans, and now off the coast of Washington, and other cool climes. Nobody understands them, because nobody noticed them before. Thanks Ray. (Oceanic cockroaches?)

"Regenerative Agriculture, an Effective Response to Climate Change" (It's obviously what we need to do, create food-bearing, regenerative ecosystems, to rebuild soil and life. How "effectiv"? Does it matter if it is the best that our species can do going forward?)

How Amazon Will Kill Your Local Grocer, A lot remains to be sorted out before 2020.  There will be economic reset, and maybe WW-3. Amazon taking over all food distribution centrally is really scary, but there may not be time, either...

100% Chance of Recession This Year (We are in an economy controlled by Central Banks, so all bets are sorta'off, but it has always happened before with several of the current omens.)

We're in a Boiling Point Crisis of Exploitive Elites, Charles Hugh Smith (History used properly, again)

Existence Is Futile

Living Each Day,

It has been awhile since I looked at Professor Guy McPherson's work, at least a couple of years, it seems.
What has come together in that time is the observation, not the understanding, that the self-reinforcing destruction of climate buffers is exploding in front of us right now. It's no theory. You may have seen video of sinkholes in Siberia from melting of methane clathrates in the permafrost. Methane is stored in a frozen slush in water and permafrost, until it isn't, and that is happening now.
Image result for Methane concentration, global distribution
The clathrates under the arctic sea ice melt when the ice melts in summer. That incomplete red line is this year. We are on track for the least summer ice in the arctic ever, and that makes all hell break loose. It. comes back thinner and thinner, and when it is gone, our thermal buffer is gone. No more massive heat can go to melting the ice. It goes to heating the surface, water first, then air. Then we notice things a lot hotter and accelerating.

The Arctic Ocean was predicted to be ice free the summer if 2016 +/- 3 years. That is a readily testable hypothesis. We'll know before the next US presidential election.
Will that be the last election? Will we even have an election? (Who you gonna vote for?  :-)
If we get 6 degrees C of global warming in the next decade, the agriculture which feeds us and the plant life in general, will mostly just die. Half the plankton in the ocean are dead, compared to a couple of decades ago.
One thing now being appreciated in science is how very rapidly temperature shifts have actually happened in the fossil and tree-ring records. We just couldn't tell from such a distance. We were proud to be able to tell they happened, and about-when. The only time ever that we can tell there was this much sudden temperature rise, was during "The Great Dying", the Permian/Triassic Extinction event.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permian%E2%80%93Triassic_extinction_event

There are a lot of positive-heat-feedback events occurring simultaneously right now, and our ice buffer is what is keeping the global temperature from shooting up suddenly. This is the argument for near term human extinction, our personal extinction by 2030. We will know very soon.

How will we choose to live the last few years of lour increasingly chaotic lives?
I'll garden, bike commute, and take care of poor people, as long as that gig keeps up.
At some point I'm going to have to help a lot of people die.

Here I am with the Siamese cucumbers, Maybe a sign from God, or something. I pickled them Saturday morning.

Here is a 20 minute brief overview of Guy McPherson's message, with video and transcript. Highly recommended. Few believe it. Testable hypothesis.

Here is the archive of recent videos. I watched the one from Wellington, New Zealand 12/6/16 (their summer) It's the same message and charts. It has evolved since I first met him in Austin around 2007. The timeline is short, and cannot be mitigated by our actions now. In the current case, we actually depend on the sulfates released by burning dirty coal to reflect sunlight away. These fall from the sky pretty quickly when smokestacks stop belching them, so the immediate effect of stopping coal-burning would be immediate warming, a rapid temperature rise within a few months. Catch-22.

Here is the exhaustive compilation of the thesis of rapid glomal warming from multiple exponential positive heat feedback cycles taking away most land and surface life by 2030. Guy did it last summer. He probably won't update it.

Don't forget about all of those nuclear reactors we have not shut down and stored their reactor cores.

In this context, life on planet earth could really use the Yellowstone super-volcano eruption this year.

Push Comes To Shove

Agents of Change,

Coming Apart: The Imperial City at the Brink, Alastair Crook
The theme here is that empires do not come undone because of events, but through events, when the elites are already rigid in their prerogatives, uncooperative with each other, and seek to further coerce and bleed a population that has already gone past the tipping point. Mr Crooke agrees with other authors he mentions, such as David Stockman, that Donald Trump is just the "disruptor" for this historical role. Nut he's already breaking his promises! Well Duh! Disruptor. This empire is senile and raving, and shouting, "off with their heads". This old hag, screaming at the top of the grand staircase, needs a good sharp shove. The Imperial Capitol, Washington DC, is intent on retaking the full power, authority and decorum, to which it is accustomed. Assassination of Caesar, civil war, whatever... Butt-cheek fart out of school bus window after track-meet class clown, President Trump is calling bullshit, and the back half of the bus knows it's true. Where are we going now, Whataburger? What then? Thanks Eleni.

Maybe you and I are not ready for "it" to hit the fan, but our (elected and unelected) representatives are.
Thanks to the Continuity of Government initiative, seriously embarked upon during the Ford administration, by Messrs Cheney and Rumsfeld, who were really given the reins under Reagan and Bush, before it became lost in the missing trillions of the Pentagon budget, we need not fear for the retaliatory powers of the American Empire. Our government and military strike capabilities will still have massive overkill, for anything left after the counterstrike from our massive first strike. Wars are inevitable when resets are overdue. It's how we have done things for thousands of years. It's what we know works, and boy is it set to work well this time!

Antonio Veciana was an anti-Castro-Cuban who worked for the CIA. He has written a book in his late years, "Trained to Kill". Maurice Bishop was his CIA handler. (Ack, I don't remember who sent me this one!)
The most shocking revelation in this memoir is the author’s claim that he met Lee Harvey Oswald, in a Dallas, Texas, hotel lobby, with Bishop, only days before JFK’s assassination, on November, 22, 1963. If true, it would give credence to Oswald final words, “I’m a patsy” and put the CIA, and Bishop/Phillips, in the center of that crime of the century.

Cuba points out that the US is in no moral position to lecture the Cuban government about human rights abuses, which are so evident at the occupied territory of Guantanamo Bay, and the rest of the planet...

A  US fighter plane has shot down a Syrian government ground support aircraft, which had been pursuing ISIS troops on the run, and had bombed them, so that Syrian pilot is dead. The US claims that it shot down the Syrian government plane in Syria, in "self defense" of US "moderate rebel" forces, who were also chasing those ISIS bad guys. Defending your terrorists in Syria by shooting down a Syrian pilot is still invasion. It's increasingly blatant.

Shortly after Russia's deputy foreign minister slammed the US downing of a Syrian Su-22 jet as an "act of aggression" and "support for terrorists", Russia announced that starting June 19 it was halting all interactions with the US under the framework on the "memorandum of incident prevention in Syrian skies", the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday, thereby assuring the probability of even more deadly escalations between Russia and the US-led coalition. "In areas where Russian aviation is conducting combat missions in the Syrian skies, any flying ojects, including jets and unmanned aerial vehicles of the international coalition discovered west of the Euphrates River will be followed by Russian air and ground defenses as air targets," the Russian Defense Ministry announced, quoted by Sputnik

NATO troops practice war against Russia again. Russia might Invade Europe with a lot of tanks, you know?

Citing a senior administration official, Politico reports that though US President Donald Trump's administration supports sanctioning Russia, they are worried that the new bill will tie their hands as they are trying to rebuild relations with Moscow. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told a House Foreign Affairs hearing as the bill went to vote that "I would urge Congress to ensure any legislation allows the president to have the flexibility to adjust sanctions."

The Grenfell Tower blaze death toll is still rising. It was just poor people, in an old 1970s concrete apartment project that had to be beautified, without wasting money on the 5% more expensive fireproof covering. Sprinklers would have added another 3% or so to the remodel. This story is about how London housing prices have become one of the major money laundering tickets for drug lords and despots the world over. They don't live in these places, of course, which makes Jeremy Corbyn's proposition that the government should appropriate unlived-in apartments and houses for the fire victims, a stiletto-jab in the right direction.
"This isn’t a story about the Grenfell Tower disaster. The causes of that are complex, and we don’t yet know them all. But it is the story of what’s happening to the homes and lives of ordinary people in London. It’s a story about how communities became commodities. And it’s hard not to see the horrific events unfolding in West London as yet another horrific example of what happens when the needs of people are subsumed to the needs of the market."

Former German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl has died. He was the Chancellor of German reunification, but what a snake's nest that actually was and still is. "Germany" is not reconstituted, really. The German Empire still exists as an entity in suspended animation, with no way to speak. The two occupied pieces of that empire, which were not territorially-transposed into Poland and Russia, are "unified", but had to accept the loss of the Deutsechmark, and acceptance of the EU-framework, before that would be permitted. "Germany" is still a POW. Weird situation. Thanks, Eleni

How Hillary Clinton could actually go to prison. (The Clinton Foundation is a massively illegal tax-dodging fraud in all the states and countries where it operates, and has never been anything but that. Comey was a major defender of the foundation. There were always going to be major defenders... There was never a real attempt to qualify for non-profit status, ever... There was a whole lot of money that went through that tunnel.)

Illinois, by court order, has to pay out more every month than it takes in. There is zero "discretionary" budget. Discretionary budget covers a lot, like school buses, domestic-violence shelters and some ambulances. Bankrupt? Whaddaya call it? It's Illinois, a state, not Puerto Rico, a colony...

Jim Hightower has the "lowdown" on corporate no-right-to-repair clauses. Apple? Sure, but John Deere combines?
You have no right to fix this, by that clause in your purchase agreement. You have no recourse. You signed that away. Sorry you missed the harvest, now pay up the $12,000 for rebooting your onboard computer, or we'll start adding storage fees... Thanks Ray. (Hey, does Belarus still make Soviet-style  tractors and harvesters?)

Amazon's purchase of Whole Foods Market makes more sense when considered with their new patent for complete smartphone access while you shop. They will triangulate your position, block your access to websites of other stores (no comparison shopping), and they will get to know you intimately.
“You passed the milk, you always get milk,” your smartphone may tell you while shopping.

Magma is moving under Yellowstone again, making earthquakes again. Someday, this super volcano will blow again, like 200 Mt St Helens eruptions at once. It's about due. It might not happen for thousands of years. It does have smaller eruptions more often, too, just to release magma. How much smaller? (Our government-continuity is bound to be set to survive this threat, too.)

Logical Conclusions

Market Participants,

I'll sell you a "Micro Apartment" in Hong Kong for $US 500,000. It's the size of a compact car parking space (almost).

This is actually enough room to do everything one person really needs to do. Just look. (Well, you might call it a "coffin cubicle"):
Coffin cubicles, cage homes, in Hong Kong

"Bubble", can you see a bubble if you are in it? Housing bubble in Austin? San Francisco? Whaddaya mean? Charles Hugh Smith does graphs and words...

The Global Order Myth, Thanks Eleni
The panic about Trumps bad manners would be spun very differently if he openly supported American military control of the world, to make it safe for global multinational corporate rulers, the folks who brought the (pictured above) economic miracle to Hong Kong, and a Wal-Mart to your area.
“There are a lot of killers,” Trump retorted. “We’ve got a lot of killers. What, you think our country is so innocent?” In offering this one brief remark, Trump thereby committed the ultimate heresy.

Benevolent Global Capitalists buy water distribution system, to help Greeks out of that frying pan they are in.

"What Should the Future Form of Money Be?" A central bank representative gives a speech. What did he actually say?
Scroll down to the part with the "future of money'' header. He seems to accept the inevitability of a completely electronic monetary format, though he acknowledges the expense it entails to maintain and protect such a vast and pervasive network. He makes an argument, which I believe favors "nationalization" of the creation of money, taking that exorbitant-privilege away from ordinary bankers and reserving it for sovereign nations (well, their central bankers, not the politicians, as goes-without-saying...) Consider his story of the poor guy, trying to get some cash in the electronic future. I'd take it differently from his spin. Thanks Tom.

Vladimir Putin, meets with the creator of "Ethereum", the currently surging electronic transaction system, which is not just a monetary unit, like Bitcoin, but a versatile system, which doesn't need "banking" as we now know it (but does perform those functions). President Putin is interested in developing a system like this for Russia.

Self-licking-ice-cream-cone sends 4000 more US troops to Afghanistan, and vows to support useless Al-Tanf garrison (illegally) within Syria, where some moderate-terrorists are getting trained, as real fighting inconveniently reaches the area.

Oh... The US has just moved a long range missile system emplacement from Jordan to al-Tanf, Syria. Now what? (Big forward projection of strategic strike capability without placing USAF personnel at risk.)

US-backed moderate rebels use US-supplied artillery to devastate Raqqah, ahead of ground assault, while US airstrikes inflict enough collateral-damage on trapped families for the UN to point it out.

Germany and Austria react to new US sanctions against Russia, which seem to be part of the pipelanistan-wars:
Gabriel and Kern also accused the U.S. of having ulterior motives in seeking to enforce the energy blockade, which they said is trying to help American natural gas suppliers at the expense of their Russian rivals. And they warned the threat of fining European companies participating in the Nord Stream 2 project "introduces a completely new, very negative dimension into European-American relations." "Europe's energy supply is a matter for Europe, and not for the United States of America."

Common Good

Good Neighbors,

Research finds no evidence that NGOs are colluding with refugee-smugglers in the Mediterranean. The increase of refugees is steady on routes that are patrolled by rescuers and those that are not. The refugees and smugglers are not apparently preferring the routes where they may be rescued. There is a tremendous pressure to get out of war and starvation in Africa, the Mideast and Afghanistan. (Stopping funding for "humanitarian wars" would be a start.)

Ghelsea Manning gives her first interview since release from solitary confinement in military prison.
She stopped seeing victims of America's humanitarian wars as statistics.
They became humans to her. Her heart compelled her to act on their behalf.

Why Governments have Abandoned Voters and True Economic Recovery, by Claire Connelly
(It's the cancerous, insatiable, parasitic, mind-controlling paradigm of neoliberalism. Scroll down to "The Actual Lizard People", if you want to cut to the chase.)

Charles Hugh Smith: "We have completely lost any sense of a Common Good. All we have now is a cut-throat competition between entrenched special interests for a fatter slice of the pie while the bottom 95% have essentially no political voice and a rapidly diminishing say in the economy."

An Open Letter to Jeremy Corbyn (This is good, but reaches farther than it looks possible to grasp. The EU is a neoliberal machine, which is desperate for something to eat these days.)

100,000 civilians are trapped in the Syrian city of Raqqa, human shields for ISIS occupiers, and the US is dropping flesh(and lung)-eating white phosphorous bombs on them. This is a war crime, recognized as such in US army manuals.

What is next for Saif al-Islam Gaddafi? (And where is he really? And is he really "free"?)

Puerto Ricans vote for US Statehood:
Results showed that 97.2 percent of those who voted wanted statehood, 1.5 percent supported independence and 1.3 percent backed no change.... But Sunday's results showed only 23 percent of the island's almost 2.2 million voters took part in the referendum... because of the boycott by opposition parties.

Joe Brewer: There is Life After Civilization Collapse (at least there was the last few times) "Climate Doomsday" already happened, he adds.

Suspicious Circumstances

Suffering Consequences,

Seth Rich (almost certainly the leaker of DNC emails to Wikileaks) walked away from the "bungled robbery" near his apartment, according to his neighbor, who saw and identified him and talked to police at the scene.
This video interview from last year has been brought to light. It implies strongly that Seth Rich was murdered at the hospital, after he had been placed in protective-custody by a special police detail, and the hospital staff who attended him when he arrived were all denied access to him, strictly denied access. Thanks Colleen.

This report by an anonymous Surgery Resident who was on call when Seth Rich came in, circulated last month:
  • Seth Rich was shot twice in the back.
  • He sustained a “small injury” to his liver and “several small bowel injuries” — none of which was fatal.
  • He was taken to the operating room, where his injuries were treated.
  • He was then moved to ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where he received blood transfusion. He was stable, his blood pressure normal.
  • 8 hours after Rich arrived at the hospital, the place “swarmed” with law enforcement officers. Everyone, except the attending physician and a few nurses, was kicked out of the ICU. There were no visiting hours, which is abnormal for ICU.
  • That morning, Anonymous and the other doctors were instructed not to make rounds (visits) on “the VIP that came in last night” (Seth Rich).
  • When Rich died, no one other than the attending physician was allowed to see him. There was no code alert or call for a cardiopulmonaryresuscitation team. Although Anonymous was with a patient in the next room, he/she was blocked from attending to Rich.
  • At the time, Anonymous couldn’t understand why the patient Rich was treated that way and thought the whole thing to be “fishy”. Later, when he found out that the patient was Seth Rich, Anonymous “was terrified”.
"The Syrian army, in cooperation with its allies, have taken control of a vast territory in southeastern Syria, reaching the border "with friendly Iraq," Syrian military officials have announced." (US/Israel thwarted?)

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov "strongly disagrees" with American military killing Syrian military in Syria. ("Invading", you, might say...)
"On June 6, the Pentagon announced the coalition conducted a new strike on Syrian government forces."

These two stories are about the "standoff at Al-Tanf, where the US wants to control a critical position for multi-national transit through Syria, Irac and Jordan, but nobody else except America's moderate-terrorists (still in training) seems to like the idea. "Leave these boys alone, or we'll kill you some more, you Syrian Nazis!"
What's plan-B, guys? Rex, talk to Sergei some more!
American-backed forces, Iran-backed forces and ISIS are all headed for a military confrontation in Deir az-Zour (Debka)

Lavrov and Tillerson do agree that the threatened war between Saudi Arabia and Qatar should be resolved through diplomacy.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has been released from prison in Libya, after being captured by militia in 2011, after his father had been sodomized to death with a bayonet (amusing Hillary Clinton, as you'll recall). Saif al-Islam is the eldest and was the most visible, vocal and politically active of Gaddafi's sons. He was convicted and sentenced to death by a kangaroo-court in 2015, using torture-confessions only. That's over. He's in Libya somewhere, they say.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has a plan for political settlement in Libya, which will reunite the country, says his lawyer. (Probably has a real plan, which is probably why he's not dead.)

Senator Rand Paul has some level-headed advice for dealing with Iran:
“If you really want to get rid of their ballistic-missile program, we should look at who else in the region they perceive as a threat. I do not think they really perceive us as a threat. We have thousands of ballistic missiles, yes, but I think they are primarily concerned with Saudi Arabia and the other [Persian] Gulf sheikhdoms, who already have hundreds of missiles. They also see Israel’s nuclear weapons as a threat. So, if you wanted to influence the behavior of Iran, you might consider sanctioning Saudi Arabia in equal fashion. Another way of doing it would be to withhold the $350 billion worth of new weapons and missiles to Saudi Arabia until both sides come together to discuss an arms control treaty. Perhaps you could say we are going to withhold that offer until Saudi Arabia agrees to negotiate with Iran.”

Gilad Atzmon, an accomplished Jewish musician, at odds with the aggressive policies of Israel (and possibly depressed enough to shoot himself 3 times in the head) comments on the venomous hate expressed for Jeremy Corbyn in the British press by those who have so strongly advocated for the UK to support America, fighting Israel's wars in Iraq, Libya and Syria. (Corbyn and his voters "scare" these liberal gentlemen.)
