Oops English Nerve Gas

Publicly Embarrassed,

A Swiss lab determines that "Russian BZ" poison used on Skripal father/daughter, was not of Russian origin, but came from UK or US chemical weapons labs (poor quality, too...).

Yulia Skripal makes this odd statement, with police "protectors" at her side:
"I have specially trained officers available to me, who are helping to take care of me and to explain the investigative processes that are being undertaken. I have access to friends and family, and I have been made aware of my specific contacts at the Russian Embassy who have kindly offered me their assistance in any way they can. At the moment I do not wish to avail myself of their services, but, if I change my mind I know how to contact them"..."For the moment I do not wish to speak to the press or the media, and ask for their understanding and patience whilst I try to come to terms with my current situation."  http://www.moonofalabama.org/2018/04/new-developments-in-the-skripal-drama-police-statement-opcw-report-release.html#more

France, UK & US attack on Syria (more apparent than real; cute acronym) Thanks Eleni.
"Last night France, the UK and the U.S. launched an illegal attack on Syria and bombed several military and civilian sites within the country. They justify their attack as revenge or punishment for an alleged 'chemical attack' that had taken place a week earlier. The 'chemical incident' on April 7 in Douma was designed to reverse Trump's publicly announced decision to order the U.S. military out of Syria. The Saudi financed Salafi 'rebels' in Douma collected bodies, probably from another incident, and stacked them up in one apartment to stage a scene and to create fake videos of a 'chemcial attack' which they falsely attributed to the Syrian government. Trump pretended to fall for the videos and tweeted threats against Syria and Russia. Russia threatened to respond with strong force should any U.S. attack hurt its soldiers or interests in Syria. The UK and France, who like the U.S. were only recently visited by the Saudi clown prince and showered with fresh Saudi billions, jumped onto the case. France now admits that its 'intelligence' of the Douma incident is solely based on the obviously staged youtube videos and claims made by 'western' financed propaganda operations who cooperate with the Jihadis."

The Pentagon also said the United States had “deconfliction” contacts with Russia before and after the strikes, that Syrian air defense systems had been largely ineffective and there was no indication that Russian systems had been employed. In comments on Saturday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry said the strikes did little damage and claimed that of 103 cruise missiles fired in the U.S.-led airstrike, 71 were shot down by Syria’s Soviet-made air-defense systems. The intercepted missiles included all 12 of those bound for the Al-Dumayr military airfield near Damascus, where the chemical attack that triggered the crisis was allegedly launched. In de-escalating the airstrikes' aftermath, Russia said its own air defenses were not activated because none of the missiles passed through its zone of influence. Russia also said there were no immediate reports of military or civilian casualties. The Syrian army command said three civilians had been injured in the attack on Homs.  https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-14/people-are-dancing-streets-syria-russia-iran-shrug-more-limited-feared-airstrikes
"It's not only about Syria itself, you see.  The GDP of Syria won't make a difference on the USD.  It's about stopping a revolution.  If Syria uses a Russian - Chinese financial and energy system perhaps it will spread to Jordan, Lebanon, and who next?  If half the world is suddenly using a Yuan denominated trading market, it would threaten US hegemony.  So all alternatives need to be stopped in their tracks, period.  That isn't an opinion it is the policy in DC based on research by companies like RAND."

Chinese State News, "Global Times" says:
The facts cannot be distorted. This military strike was not authorized by the UN, and the strikes targeted a legal government of a UN member state. The US and its European allies launched strikes to punish President Bashar al-Assad for a suspected chemical attack in Duma last weekend. However, it has not been confirmed if the chemical weapons attack happened or if it did, whether government forces or opposition forces launched it. International organizations have not carried out any authoritative investigation...  The US has a record of launching wars on deceptive grounds. The Bush government asserted the Saddam regime held chemical weapons before the US-British coalition troops invaded Iraq in 2003. However, the coalition forces didn't find what they called weapons of mass destruction after overthrowing the Saddam regime. Both Washington and London admitted later that their intelligence was false.  Washington's attack on Syria where Russian troops are stationed constitute serious contempt for Russia's military capabilities and political dignity. Trump, like scolding a pupil, called on Moscow, one of the world's leading nuclear powers, to abandon its "dark path." Disturbingly, Washington seems to have become addicted to mocking Russia in this way. Russia is capable of launching a destructive retaliatory attack on the West. Russia's weak economy is plagued by Western sanctions and squeezing of its strategic space. That the West provokes Russia in such a manner is irresponsible for world peace.

Provocative Israeli airstrikes in Aleppo, Syria kill about 20 Iranian military personnel. Iran is goaded to strike back, then be destroyed "to protect Israel". Nukes would suffice. (What Israeli target can Iran strike without pulling that trigger?)

"Hours after the overnight US-led missile strikes on Syria, WikiLeaks republished a crucially important diplomatic cable through its official media accounts confirming that Saudi Arabia's long term strategy in Syria has been to pursue regime change "by all means available." According to the leaked internal Saudi government document, this is the kingdom's proposed end-goal even should the United States at any point show "lack of desire" due to the threat of Russian response and possibility of a 'great power' confrontation... It is also essential to recall that the al-Qaeda linked group which originated the claims of a government orchestrated chemical attack on civilians in the Damascus suburb of Douma, called Jaish al Islam (JAI), is and has always been state sponsored by the Saudi regime. The Guardian, among others, reported beginning in 2013 that Saudi Arabia founded and trained the group, spending millions...  Notably, as Russia as well as some Western counter-terror experts continue to point the finger at Jaish al Islam (and the "White Helmets") for staging the Douma "chemical attack" in order to provoke the US military response, it has emerged through past reporting that JAI itself had used chemical weapons against Kurdish militias in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud district in 2016 (and it appears that the Saudi-backed group openly admitted to carrying out prior chemical attacksaccording to The Daily Beast)."

Arranging Armageddon

Examining the Facts,

The former UK Ambassador to Syria, Peter Ford, told BBC Radio Scotland regarding the alleged Douma chemical weapons attack: The Syrian government is probably not guilty. The sources claiming there was a chemical weapons attack are pro-Islamist jihadi propaganda outlets. The incident was probably staged, and it is likely that no one actually died. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-11/former-uk-ambassador-syria-syrian-chemical-weapons-attack-was-staged-islamic-jihadi
"There wasn't a single corpse" No corpses at all, in the Douma war zone. The made for TV movie was apparently NOT made in Douma, Syria. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-11/there-wasnt-single-corpse-russia-claims-white-helmets-staged-syria-chemical-attack
US attack in Syria is "Imminent", though uncertain, due to Trump not being smoothly in line with neocon/Pentagon consensus. John Ward has a few connections left. They say Trump favors a "surgical strike" to assassinate Assad and keep Syria in chaos, while neocons want a full court press, with boot-in-the-sand American (or other infantry?) invasion. (That would take the route for the Saudi-Qatari gas pipeline to Europe, which is critical to imperial strategy going forward. Even if Iran doesn't get a pipeline to Europe, the Russians, Syrians and friends need to prevent the US/Saudi/Israeli/NATO pipeline, and get Syria into a recovery from war, not the Libyan chaos. Europe needs gas from somebody and more gas pretty soon.) https://hat4uk.wordpress.com/2018/04/11/syria-us-attack-imminent-as-schism-
The Saker looks at the strike force being amassed by the US. (It could also strike Iran, couldn't it?)  Considering that the USS Georgia and USS John Warner nuclear submarines are also deployed in the region, the US Navy could have about 406 Tomahawks to use for its attack on the Assad government. On April 11, the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group is set to depart Naval Station Norfolk for deployment in the Middle East and Europe. The strike group includes the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy and the guided-missile destroyers USS Arleigh Burke, USS Bulkeley, USS Forrest Sherman and USS Farragut. The destroyers USS Jason Dunham and USS The Sullivans will join the strike group later. If the attack on Syria does not take place in the coming days, the USS Harry S. Truman will further strengthen the US offensive capabilities for a possible large-scale invasion against the Assad government and thus Russian and Iranian forces deployed in Syria.

Trump now walks back the announcement of missile attacks on Syria "coming soon", and says they could be any time. Aircraft carrier USS Truman will be in the region in 2 weeks. (It seems to me that the missile attacks on the Syrian airfield last April were a prelude to invasion, but did not go so well since most missiles were taken out by electronic and anti-missile countermeasures. This looks like a rerun of the spring-invasion plan. Trump apparently does not want to invade, but the most he can probably do is be a big-mouthed galoot and out of step, and awkwardly obstructionist, and not-a-team-player...)

Truthy Tucker

Questioning Motives,

[My personal view is that the critical Imperial interest in Syria is to get the Saudi-Qatari gas pipeline through to Europe, to hold the Western Empire and gulf sheikdoms together, and to make another war against Russia possible. Europe can't really make war upon Russia while expecting Russian gas to do so. The Empire really needs to control the European economy, and all oil and gas, including the Russian oil and gas.]

"What do we really know this time about chemical weapons attack in Douma?" "We know it's a fraud." Tucker Carlson , Thanks Tom.
(Who is protecting Tucker Carlson for him to say these things on TV? This is 13:40 of him calling the government liars and making his point as a Republican Senator obfuscates, implies Tucker is a Putin-enabler, and says the questions need to be asked, but not answered.)

The US State Department Accuses Syria and Russia of Gassing Civilians before any Investigation, Caitlin Johnstone

The big question is whether this development portends an impending US attack on Syria, bypassing the UN. The UN has refused to confirm there has been any attack at all. Russia and Syrian government insist there has been no attack and have approached the Organization for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons for an international investigation. The good thing is that the OPCW is deputing two teams of experts to go to Douma later this week.  http://blogs.rediff.com/mkbhadrakumar/2018/04/11/us-attack-on-syria-is-futile-but-serves-a-purpose/

When a Government declares a Verdict before an investigation, it's because there's a Pre-exising Agenda, more Caitlin (There is real urgency for the Empire to get a full scale invasion of Syria going.)

"How did you go bankrupt?" "Two ways. gradually, then suddenly." Ernest Hemmingway character in "The Sun Also Rises".
When does the "suddenly" part happen for the $US. That's critical. It is the extractive solvent for transport of wealth into the empire from the rest of the world.

"This revolution is non-ideological because the enemy that we are fighting does not have an ideology of its own. The nationless plutocratic power structure that is choking us all to death is not intrinsically socialist, capitalist, liberal, conservative, libertarian, progressive, Zionist, white supremacist, or anything else. It will use any or all of those ideologies at any given time to manipulate people toward supporting its agendas, but the rulers of the western empire ultimately do not care about any of those things. What they care about is maintaining and expanding their power, and they’ll cheerfully wave a rainbow flag today and a Nazi flag tomorrow in order to get it." More Caitlin, Thanks Cat

"Hizbullah Today", provides insight into one of the most successful groups resisting the Western Empire. Thanks Eleni.

Why Systems Fail, Charles Hugh Smith (The empire is desperately close to the structure breaking, which holds it together.)

Trump tells Russia that "Missiles are coming" to Syria. Russia expresses intention to shoot them down. (Who has more missiles? Somebody will run out first.)

Trump asks Russia to roll-over. Russia won't roll-over (ever).

Trump backpedals that tweet. (It's not up to him, anyway, is it?)

Syrian forces evacuate airfields and military bases ahead of attacks. (They are moving planes and weapons systems to Russian bases. Russia has said they will fight fire with fire if Russian soldiers are killed by western attacks. This is the brink.)

Israel vows to "Wipe Assad off the Map" if Iran attacks from Syrian territory. (Well, that's as clear as Polish troops invading a German radio station in 1939. The Israeli/US/French/Saudi response will be vigorous, I'm sure.)

French (puppet) President Macron appears ready to commit the French military to helping out Saudi friends in Syria.

Paul Craig Roberts: "There is no longer any doubt that the criminally insane government in Washington is driving the world to the last war."

10 million pounds of human feces from New York and New Jersey have been sitting on the train tracks in Parrish Alabama for 2 months, horribly stinking up the small town, which has no authority to get the cargo out of there. It was headed to a landfill in another town, which got an injunction against it. Parrish has no specific laws on the books that can defend it against this unexpected fecal invasion.  Thanks Jeanine.
Parrish only spans 2 square miles, and the town's mayor, Heather Hall, says that everything stinks because of the containers. “It greatly reduces the quality of life,” she told CNN, “You can’t sit out on your porch. Kids can’t go outside and play, and God help us if it gets hot and this material is still out here.”

Boy Cries Wolf

Seen That Movie,

In a third rerun of the same false-justification-for-more-murder, the US says Syrian government used chemical weapons on people "again", though the last 3 times the US claimed this, and killed Syrians, it was always false, or done by the Imperially-funded-good-terrorists, or just not mentioned. News comes from the "White Helmets", ISIS-in-cleaner-clothes.
" Remember when the US admitted Syrian "Rebels" have used chemical weapons? Or when earlier this year, now former Secretary of State blamed Russia for an alleged Syrian chemical attack despite admitting he doesn't know who actually did it? Or when the US finally admitted there was "no evidence" Assad used sarin gas? Or just last week, when Trump said that the US is finally pulling out of Syria as a result of the defeat of ISIS  (much to the Pantagon's fury and open-ended timetable for extracting Syrian resources)?...  On Saturday night, an alleged chemical attack on a rebel-held town in eastern Ghouta reportedly killed dozens of people, according to US-linked medical services with Washington immediately responding that the reports - if confirmed - would demand an immediate international response. Actually scratch the "if confirmed" part - after all, the last time the US "intervened" in Syria, on April 7, 2017, the US did not need confirmation; Trump just needed a geopolitical distraction....  As for Russia, its Defense Ministry immediately denied and dismissed as false reports that the Syrian government had carried out a chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta's Douma: "We strongly refute this information," Major General Yury Yevtushenko, head of the Reconciliation Center in Syria, said in a statement on Sunday. "We declare our readiness, after Douma is liberated from the militants, to immediately send Russian radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists to collect data that will confirm the fabricated nature of these allegations," he stated.  Yevtushenko said that "a number of Western countries" are trying to prevent the resumption of an operation aimed at driving militants from the city of Douma.  "For this purpose, the use of chemical weapons by Syrian government forces – one of the most widespread claims in the West – is being used," he added."

Israel is Again Pushing Washington to War. Paul Craig Roberts. Thanks Susan. Succinct, and with good links.

Thanks for this, Lucy:
The US should, but likely won’t, pull out of Syria soon, independent journalist Eva Bartlett told RT’s Lee Camp. She added that you have to be “brain-dead” to believe the myths used by the US to justify the conflict.
US President Donald Trump’s recent comments about wanting to bring home US forces currently operating in Syria caused an uproar in Washington and the media. Administration officials quickly clarified that while an immediate withdrawal was not being seriously considered, Trump was opposed to maintaining a long-term presence in the country. “I wish it were true, but I don’t think it is true,” Bartlett said, commenting on the hypothetical pull-out. “America is clearly still embedded in eastern Syria and doesn’t seem to have any interest in leaving soon.” She said that the US is “still supporting forces against Syria” and has “oil and strategic power” interests in the country. “So I don’t foresee, unfortunately, Trump’s words coming true any time soon.”

Who blew up Syria last night? Really; the Pentagon says it didn't do it.

How Fake News Becomes Fake History: British Propaganda and WW-1 (Serious historical study) Thanks Eleni.

If Western Media Were Honest about Russia, Caitlin Johnstone:
So when we told you, for example, that Russia was the only government with a motive to poison Sergei Skripal and his daughter, we weren’t being entirely honest. The international allied intelligence and defense agencies of the western empire have every motive in the world to manufacture international support for sanctions and hawkish agendas which disrupt disobedient governments.

MLK State Assassination 4/4/68

Mourners.

Travis sends this, which I copy and paste. There was a trial in 1999 and it was found that there was governmental ciulpability in the assassination of MLK, including eliminating his security deal, and moving him to the best room for a sniper, and fudging the ballistics tests to be inconclusive. They were conclusive that the weapon James Earl Ray had was not the murder weapon.

Remembering

Blacklisted trial: King vs. Jowers

url.jpg

MLK’s surviving family actively aided the appeals of James Earl Ray, never believing in his guilt.

The 1999 civil trial, King versus Jowers and Other Unknown Co-Conspirators included three and a half weeks of evidence. The Judge’s final charge: “Do you also find that others, including governmental agencies, were parties to this conspiracy as alleged by the defendant? Your answer to that one is also yes.”

The evidence included testimony that SCLC impersonators had stripped MLK of a standard security detail, and changed his Lorraine hotel room at the last minute to the vulnerable balcony location:

https://kennedysandking.com/martin-luther-king-reviews/pepper-william-f-the-plot-to-kill-king-the-truth-behind-the-assassination-of-martin-luther-king-jr

Of particular note is the testimony of Memphis Police Department homicide detective Captain Jerry Williams who had been in charge of organizing a unit of black officers that had previously provided protection for Dr. King on his visits to Memphis. Williams said that he was not asked to form his unit on Dr. King's final, fatal visit, and was later falsely informed that Dr. King's organization, the SCLC, had said Dr. King did not want protection.19 Additionally, as University of Massachusetts Professor Philip Melanson testified, MPD Inspector Sam Evans had ordered the emergency services' TACT 10 unit removed from the vicinity of the Lorraine Motel, claiming this too was done at the request of someone in the SCLC. As Pepper writes, “When pressed as to who actually made the request, he said that it was Reverend [Samuel] Kyles. The fact that Kyles had nothing to do with the SCLC, and no authority to request any such thing, seemed to have eluded Evans.”20

Not only had Dr. King been stripped of protection but a last-minute switching of his motel room had made the assassin's job all the easier. Former New York City police detective Leon Cohen testified that Lorraine Motel manager Walter Bailey told him on the morning after the assassination that Dr. King had originally been allocated a more secure courtyard room. But on the evening before his arrival, Bailey had received a call from someone claiming to be from the SCLC's Atlanta office requesting Dr. King be given a balcony room instead. Bailey said he was “adamantly” opposed to the change “because he had provided security by the inner court” but his caller had insisted the rooms be switched anyway.21 Needless to say, no genuine member of the SCLC is known to have made any such request.

The trial also demolished the ballistics evidence tying the found rifle to Ray:

Criminal Court Judge Joe Brown, who had presided over Ray's final appeal, took the stand to testify about a series of ballstics tests that he had ordered be performed on the Remington Gamemaster rifle found in the doorway of Canipe's. The FBI had never been able to establish that particular rifle as the murder weapon – supposedly because the bullet removed from Dr. King's body was too mutilated. Judge Brown, himself a ballistics expert, explained that 12 of the 18 bullets fired during his tests had contained a similar flaw – a bump on the surface – that was not present on the death slug. He also said that the rifle had never been sighted in and, as a result, had failed the FBI's accuracy test. “ ... based on the entirety of the record”, Brown said, “and the further ballistics tests I had run, it is my opinion this is not the murder weapon.”27

Frank Holloman

Frank Holloman was the Memphis Fire and Police Director at the time of MLK’s death — a former FBI veteran with 25 years of experience. He was the inspector in charge of Director J. Edgar Hoover’s Washington office for ten years. The last eight of Holloman’s FBI career coincided with the COINTEL program. As the Memphis Fire and Police Director, Holloman was responsible for the performance of the Memphis Police and the security they provided King while he was in the city.

Hoover’s Gestapo, COINTELPRO, practiced blackmail, financial pay-offs, burglary, document forging, illegal surveillance, and spreading false rumors & propaganda. Lee Harvey Oswald was an FBI informant (documented by Texas AG Waggoner Carr and the Warren Commission) who kept Hoover abreast of the CIA-Mafia conspiracies against JFK

James Earl Ray’s attorney, William Pepper, has penned three books about the assassination, the second generally regarded as the best:

An Act of State: The Execution of MLK
William Pepper

“We recommend this important book to everyone who seeks the truth about Dr. King’s assassination.”

Russian Vindication

Momentarily Silent,

Israel set up snipers, tanks, and aircraft with orders to shoot unarmed civilians walking home. And they did. These civilians are the survivors and descendants of survivors of the illegal Israeli military invasion and occupation of Palestine. Here is some video of Israeli snipers following orders to shoot and kill unarmed people walking in the desert.

Jim Kunstler casts a sideways look at foreign involvement in Syria (the usual suspects)
And so just the other day, the latest POTUS declared (in his usual way) that “we’ll be coming out of Syria, like, very soon. Let the other people take care of it now.” The utterance sent the neocon partisans in government into a paroxysm. Cries of “Say What?” echoed up and down the Great Mall. Which “other people” was Mr. Trump referring to? The United Auto Workers? Gandalf the Grey? The cast of Glee?

Oh, France might be the "other people" going in to protect "western assets" in Syria.
They had better be careful confronting Turkey to do so, since Turkey outguns ("ally") France, so very heavily.

The President of the U.S. of A. goes-off-the-reservation  again and plots to make peace with Russia in an off-the-cuff phone conversation with President-overwhelming-re-elect Putin.
Trump congratulated Putin on his victory in last month’s presidential election during their phone call, without first reviewing written guidance from White House advisers. The Washington Post reported that talking points for the call included specific advice not to congratulate the Russian leader. Trump later described the call as “very good” and said he planned to meet with Putin “to discuss the arms race, which is getting out of control.”

Russian diplomats (somewhere) have 14 questions for their UK counterparts about the alleged poisoning with immediately-fatal-nerve-agent-of-Russian origin (Novichok), of a Russian double-agent the Brits got in a trade a long time ago, and his daughter, who is perking up nicely, while dad is still 'only mostly  dead'. The last 2 questions seem rather the most important.

Hillary Clinton ordered diplomats to suppress discussion of Novichock nerve-poison information. There seems to be a lot of that information, and in a lot of different hands, especially the US and UK,

This is looking a lot like "Operation Hades" a German Secret Service false flag operation, meant to prove Russian plutonium was being smuggled out of the collapsed Soviet Union, and the West had to go in and help secure it. Also other 4/3/18 updates to this intrigue, you won't see on CNN.

Game Changers

Sidelined,

" Since large, concentrated societies contract to the Core to protect themselves and their critical assets, those in the core historically won’t offer time or resources to help anyone but themselves: the army, the police, the roads, the tax officials. When that is true, you may want to localize, decentralize and maintain your own Core, with your own people, at home. This re-localizing will re-establish the balance of power in the Periphery where most people live."
This guest essay on The Automatic Earth really looks at the gross overall structural malaise happening in this country for the last 40 years,  with a more thoughtful analysis of some comments Hillary Clinton made in Mumbai about really having won most of the people in the most important parts of America. (Everything else is so ... well, "peripheral". It was not that way when America was healthy and productive.)

Here are two essays by Murray Bookchin on local-governance-based political structure, where political power as-well-as-wealth transmit from the human-scale groupings of small economic-political entities. Bookchin calls this "libertarian Municipalism", and there is nothing Ayn Randy about it. "Libertarian" here means that the humans in this body-politic are the primary political actors, not awaiting orders from afar, as in our current political paradigm. (The first link is more succinct, second is more technicolor.)

"You Know the US is Losing, We're Willing to Talk", Tom Luongo (It's very interesting about how we might all negotiate a reasonable status for Korea, and maybe not attack Russia, if we can just get over this Putin-fit we are having.)

Russia's other Game Changing Weapons, that Putin didn't mention in his recent speech. (WOW!)

Don't worry, America! Lockheed Martin's "Skunk Works" is working on a compact-fusio-reactor that will fit on the back of a truck, power a fighter plane, power a huge aircraft-carrier or city of 100,000 people and be working as a model within a year, marketable within 3 years.
(What? that was the 2014 press release? It's 10 times bigger and oh-so-much-heavier now, but should still be working in a year or two...)

Russiagate isn't about Trump, and not really even about Russia? (How's "containing China" goin' for ya, Mate?) Caitlin Johnstone. Thanks Eleni
