Touche' Tulsi

Front and Center,

In a rare and unprecedented speech delivered on the House floor just two days after the nation memorialized 9/11, Democratic Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday slammed Washington's longtime support to anti-Assad jihadists in Syria, while also sounding the alarm over the current build-up of tensions between the US and Russia over the Syria crisis.
She called on Congress to condemn what she called the Trump Administration’s protection of al-Qaeda in Idlib and slammed Washington's policies in Syria as "a betrayal of the American people" — especially the victims and families that perished on 9/11.
Considering that Congresswoman Gabbard herself is an Iraq war veteran and current Army reserve officer who served in the aftermath of 9/11, it's all the more power and rare that a sitting Congress member would make such forceful comments exposing the hypocrisy and contradictions of US policy.

The owners of American power are who Congresswoman Gabbard is up against. She is brave. She knows. Hawaii supports her.
Cat sends this article about America's smug ruling elite.

Cat also sends this article about rapidly escalating censorship of ideas and history, in this case, Amazon's new policy.
Since it is "not government", there is no explanation and no recourse. Anything distasteful to the owners just disappears.
It's never been about Alex Jones. It's invisible book burning. This is what happens in wartime, but starts just before the conflagration...

Trump administration comes down hard on criticizing Israel. "Antisemitic", hate speech.
Calling Isreal "racist" is hate speech. Palestinians are haters. Boycotting Israei products is illegal.
Get back in line! Bad College Students!

The latest threat to our fragile minds is here. Please protect us!
Thanks to modern technology, the U.S. government ruling class now has another scary fear-mongering problem they are dubbing “deep fakes.” Technology has reached a point where people can now create near-perfect faked videos of people saying things they never actually said, reported Tech Crunch. “Deep fakes” use existing footage mixed with artificial intelligence and machine learning to be made to look like, or at least come close to, the real thing...
“Deep fakes could become a potent tool for hostile powers seeking to spread misinformation,” wrote Representative Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, in a letter to Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence. “As deep fake technology becomes more advanced and more accessible, it could pose a threat to United States public discourse and national security, with broad and concerning implications for offensive active measures campaigns targeting the United States,” said the letter, co-signed by Representatives Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) and Carlos Curbelo (R-FL).  If you guessed that the government is more likely than not going to use this as an excuse to continue to kill free speech, you’d most likely be correct.

This is what WW-3 has to be about, the restructuring of global economy out of the capitalist mold, which depends on cheap fuel and resources and cheap labor, and broad markets. All of that is exhausting... There will be survivors and losers.
Capitalism as we know it is over. So suggests a new report commissioned by a group of scientists appointed by the UN secretary general. The main reason? We’re transitioning rapidly to a radically different global economy, due to our increasingly unsustainable exploitation of the planet’s environmental resources and the shift to less efficient energy sources.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/long_reads/capitalism-un-scientists-preparing-end-fossil-fuels-warning-demise-a8523856.html

Charles Hugh Smith explains the tightly interlinked global financial system, where each part of the system depends upon the stability of the whole system, which is fine until it suddenly collapses. All that happened with "nonlinear dynamics" in 2008, just got more and more that way.

The massive wealth redistribution that happened in 2008 can't happen again. there just aren't enough resources. What's Plan-B?
The response to the financial crisis was about reorganizing property rights. If you were close to power, you enjoyed unlimited rights and no responsibilities, and if you were far from power, you got screwed. This shaped the world into what it is today...
One of the first things Roosevelt did, even before he took office, was to embarrass powerful financiers. He did this by encouraging the Senate Banking Committee to continue its probe, under investigator Ferdinand Pecora, of the most powerful institutions on Wall Street, which were National City (now Citibank) and JP Morgan. Pecora exposed these institutions as nests of corruption. The Senate Banking Committee made public Morgan’s "preferred list," which was the group of powerful and famous people who essentially got bribes from Morgan. It included the most important men in the country, like former Republican President Calvin Coolidge, a Supreme Court Justice, important CEOs and military leaders, and important Democrats, too.

Matt Taibbi, with Rolling Stone gets the perspective clear on the 2008-2009 bank bailout. this will "unwind" this next time. Who will be in power?
The public to this day has no understanding of the scale of the intervention.
To put it in perspective, the War on Terror has cost America about $5.6 trillion since 9/11, or about $32 million an hour.
The bailouts probably dwarf that effort. Most studies suggest it was a world-war-level mobilization of cash, a generation of savings used to plug a single hole.
The Special Inspector General of the TARP put the gross government outlay at $4.6 trillion, with over $16 trillion in guarantees. Bloomberg concluded the rescue expenditure was $12.8 trillion. Fortune (which saluted the investment as hugely profitable for America in the end) put the number at $14 trillion. The Levy Institute at Bard College did probably the most extensive study, and put the number at $29 trillion.

The EU prepares to do a Greek-colonization on Hungary, which land locked country has the gall to refuse refugees from wars perpetrated by former colonialists and NATO members.
Poland says it will vote in Hungary's favor, to prevent Hungary's vote being revoked. (Hungarians got particularly screwed by financial capitalism as they exited the soviet sphere and were deeply and ruthlessly exploited, which is not yet over.)

Hungary's Fighting-Vic Orban goes into the ring with George Soros funded European Parliament, with only Poland in his corner, but plenty of resolve.
"A few months ago ... there was an election in Hungary. The Hungarian people decided what should happen, and during the election campaign we discussed all of the issues — including CEU, the NGOs, and all of the important political issues. And the people decided on these issues. And now the European Parliament is taking upon itself the task of overruling the decision made by the people of Hungary and forcing the Hungarian government to implement what they are attempting to impose on us in place of the people's decision."

Palm oil destroys massive swathes of forest every year, until... The forest can never come back.
"Sustainable biofuel" is a scam. Use less fuel.
The biosphere is going away forever, as far as life forms like us are concerned. Somebody, somewhere has to stop it, right?

Two leading scientists have issued a call for massive swathes of the planet’s land and sea to be protected from human interference in order to avert mass extinction.
Current levels of protection “do not even come close to required levels”, they said, urging world leaders to come to a new arrangement by which at least 30 per cent of the planet’s surface is formally protected by 2030.
Chief scientist of the National Geographic Society Jonathan Baillie and Chinese Academy of Sciences biologist Ya-Ping Zhang made their views clear in an editorial published in the journal Science.

Ig Nobel Prizes have been awarded again:
Japanese gastroenterologist Akira Horiuchi won the medical education prize for an experiment in which he reviewed the comfort and efficiency of self-colonoscopy in the sitting position by performing a colonoscopy on himself while seated. He reported only “mild discomfort.”
Other winners included a team that demonstrated that most people who use complicated products do not read the instruction manual (Literature Prize); researchers who surveyed Spanish drivers to determine the frequency, motivation, and effects of shouting and cursing while in a car (Peace Prize); a group that investigated whether using Voodoo dolls to retaliate against abusive bossesmakes employees feel better (Economics Prize); and a team that tested the effectiveness of a “spit shine” by cleaning 18th century sculptures with saliva and several alcohol-based cleaners(Chemistry Prize). Spit won.

Narrative Control Problems

News-Biting,

2 minutes of truth about Syria by Jeffrey Sachs.
(Notice the defensive postural reaction of the female news anchor when this starts to get real. Deer in headlights look and grabbing arms of chair.)

Professor Paul Craig Roberts:
For some time I have pointed out the paradox of the American liberal/progressive/left being allied with the CIA, FBI, military/security complex and deep state. Now leftist Ann Garrison has noticed the paradox of this alliance. She concludes that the left has lost its mind...
I have explained that the leftwing lost its bearings when the Soviet Union collapsed and socialism gave way to neoliberal privatizations. The moral fury of the leftwing movement had to go somewhere, and it found its home in Identity Politics in which the white heterosexual male takes the place of the capitalist, and his victim groups—blacks, women, homosexuals, illegal immigrants—take the place of the working class.
The consequences of the leftwing’s alliance with warmongers and liars is the leftwing’s loss of veracity. The left has endorsed a CIA orchestration—“Russiagate”—for which there is no known evidence, but which the left supports as proven truth...
At one time, Congress—both parties—would have been all over the invalid Mueller appointment. However, after 16 years of Cheney/Bush and Obama regime lawlessness, even Republicans accept that the Constitution’s restraints on executive branch power, along with the laws and regulations Congress has established specifying the exercise of these powers, have been rendered meaningless by the “war on terror,” a hoax designed to further Israel’s interests in the Middle East and the neoonservative doctrine of US hegemony, while making billions of dollars for the military/security complex.

Moon of Alabama has "a few items related to Syria" (European colonialist powers are experiencing various mild to moderate difficulties coordinating the planned massive attacks, in retaliation for the Assad chlorine gas attacks on Syrian civilians that Nikki Haley said he gave the orders for.)
The U.S. asked the Merkel administration to participate in "retaliatory" regime change strikes on the Syrian government forces when, likely soon, another faked 'chemical' incident will be blamed on it. Several high ranking members of Chancellor Merkel's party want to follow that call. But now the Scientific Services of the German Bundestag, the equivalent of the U.S. Congressional Research Service, released an authoritative legal opinion (pdf, in German) on the issue. Such an attack would be illegal under international law and it would also violate the German constitution. There will be no official German support for such a wider attack on Syria. (In an earlier opinion the Scientific Service found that the continued U.S. presence in Syria is illegal.)

Tom Luongo: The way out of Syria for the U.S. with its face-saved is to thunder and bluster, threaten fire and brimstone just like Trump did with Kim Jong-un and use that to explain why Assad showed restraint and didn’t use chemical weapons this time.

Turkey wants Idleb province in Syria, and is making Ottoman Empire ownership claims on this internationally recognized part of Syria.
Turkey is massively supplying the Idleb terrorists they were supposed to get rid of over the past year, but continue to support.
Russian and Syrian airstrikes are on hold, so the US can't stage that chlorine-barrel-bomb false-flag and have an excuse for massive air assaults on Syria.
Civilians in Idleb are getting picked up and tortured to death by terroristsmercenaries while Syrian Army forces are in holding pattern for politics.
Stress between US and Russian forces remains. US should really not go to conventional war against current Russian technology, nor nuclear...

YouTube bans media presenting Syrian National viewpoints. Only Western media views of Syria are "real news".

Vladimir Putin sends telegram to Kim Jong Un on 70th anniversary of North Korea (sad birthday) expressing confidence for future, and pleasure with friendly relations.

Russia pushes to relax sanctions on North Korea, since they are moving in the agreed direction toward denuclearization.
Moscow will propose to the UN Security Council to reward North Korea with a gradual relaxing of sanctions if it takes the necessary steps towards denuclearization, Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said.
“As North Korea takes steps on denuclearization, we believe that the UN Security Council has the authority and should address the issue of adequate easing of the sanctions against North Korea. We will raise this issue with the understanding that North Korea will also take the required steps,” Morgulov said on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

Russian President Putin points out that $20 trillion of American government debt (accelerating growth of debt, too) makes the $US a risky financial asset.
(It is backed by the full faith and destruction of the US military, for the moment, but that may be slipping.  How about some gold?)

Ilargi, at The Automatic Earth:
In the wake of a number of the Lehman and 9/11 commemorations in America, and as a monster storm is once again threatening to cause outsize damage, we find ourselves at a pivotal point in time, which will decide how the country interacts with its own laws, its legal system, its Constitution, its freedom of speech, and indeed if it has sufficient willpower left to adhere to the Constitution as its no. 1 guiding principle.
The main problem is that it all seems to slip slide straight by the people, who are -kept- busy with completely different issues. That is convenient for those who would like less focus on the Constitution, but it’s also very dangerous for everyone else. Americans should today stand up for freedom of speech, or it will be gone, likely forever.
The way it works is that president Trump is portrayed as the major threat to ‘the rule of law’, which allows other people, as well as companies and organizations, to drop below the radar and devise and work on plans and schemes that threaten the country itself, and its future as a nation ruled y its laws.
Bob Woodward’s book “Fear: Trump in the White House” and the anonymous op-ed published in the NYT a day later serve as a good reminder of these dynamics. If you succeed in confirming people’s idea that Trump is such an unhinged idiot that an unelected cabal inside the White House is needed to save the nation from the president it elected, you’re well on your way.
Well on your way to separate the country from its own laws, that is. Not on your way to saving it. You can’t save America by suspending its Constitution just because that suits your particular political goals or points of view.

According to a State Department email from Sid Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton Bob Woodward has been an FBI asset ever since his Deep Throat days.

Democratic Party Dept. of Loose and Locked Lips:
More general infidelity pops up as additional Strzok-Page emails are made public.
A December 15, 2016 email appears to discuss a "political" leaking operation, in which others were "leaking like mad" amid the Trump-Russia probe.
“Oh, remind me to tell you tomorrow about the times doing a story about the rnc hacks,” Page texted Strzok.
“And more than they already did? I told you Quinn told me they pulling out all the stops on some story…” Strzok replied.
A source told Fox News “Quinn” could be referring to Richard Quinn, who served as the chief of the Media and Investigative Publicity Section in the Office of Public Affairs. Quinn could not be reached for comment.
Strzok again replied: “Think our sisters have begun leaking like mad. Scorned and worried, and political, they’re kicking into overdrive.”

Kenneth Starr, Clinton Special Prosecutor, finally speaks/publishes after 20 years, figuring the Clinton Dynasty is safely over.
Bill was politely evasive. Hillary just rattled off "I don't recall" for hours, making no pretense of honesty.
Starr says Hillary actively enabled President Bill's sexual escapades. (If Starr figures the Clinton game is over, he's likely right, don'tcha think?)

Tom sends video and transcript of Google General Staff meeting, the day after Google's best and sincerest efforts to help candidate Clinton win were dashed against the rocks. There was no joy in Mudville; bigwigs or worker-bees.
There was lots of interest in making the milieu of online political education more hyper-local, consistent, and personalized.
The uneducated voters just don't understand. sigh...
It is very good that these beneficent and intelligent people are always vigilant in defense of what is best for those of us who don't understand.

Google responds to leaked video: "Will investigate":
Study shows that American teens now prefer text chats to face-to-face meetings (less risky, of course...)
Some 35 percent of kids aged 13 to 17 years old said they would rather send a text than meet up with people, which received 32 percent.
The last time the media and technology-focused nonprofit conducted such a survey in 2012, meeting face-to-face hit 49 percent, far ahead of texting's 33 percent.
More than two-thirds of American teens choose remote communication -- including texting, social media, video conversation and phone conversation -- when they can, according to the study.

Dead Man Speaks

Living Witnesses,

On 9/28/2001 Osama Bin Laden gave an nterview with a Karachi newspaper. Thanks for the link, Wigs. Osama said this:

I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. Neither I had any knowledge of these attacks nor I consider the killing of innocent women, children, and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children, and other people. Such a practice is forbidden ever in the course of a battle. It is the United States, which is perpetrating every maltreatment on women, children, and common people of other faiths, particularly the followers of Islam. All that is going on in Palestine for the last 11 months is sufficient to call the wrath of God upon the United States and Israel. There is also a warning for those Muslim countries, which witnessed all these as a silent spectator. What had earlier been done to the innocent people of Iraq, Chechnya, and Bosnia? Only one conclusion could be derived from the indifference of the United States and the West to these acts of terror and the patronage of the tyrants by these powers that America is an anti-Islamic power and it is patronizing the anti-Islamic forces. Its friendship with the Muslim countries is just a show, rather deceit. By enticing or intimidating these countries, the United States is forcing them to play a role of its choice. Put a glance all around and you will see that the slaves of the United States are either rulers or enemies [of Muslims]. The US has no friends, nor it wants to keep one because the prerequisite of friendship is to come to the level of the friend or consider him at par with you. America does not want to see anyone equal to it. It expects slavery from others. Therefore, other countries are either its slaves or subordinates[...]Whoever committed the act of 11 September are not the friends of the American people. I have already said that we are against the American system, not against its people, whereas in these attacks, the common American people have been killed[...]The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself; the people who are a part of the US system, but are dissenting against it. Or those who are working for some other system; persons who want to make the present century as a century of conflict between Islam and Christianity so that their own civilization, nation, country, or ideology could survive[...]Then there are intelligence agencies in the US, which require billions of dollars worth of funds from the Congress and the government every year. This [funding issue] was not a big problem till the existence of the former Soviet Union but after that the budget of these agencies has been in danger. They needed an enemy. So, they first started propaganda against Usama and Taliban and then this incident happened. You see, the Bush administration approved a budget of $40 billion. Where will this huge amount go? It will be provided to the same agencies, which need huge funds and want to exert their importance. Now they will spend the money for their expansion and for increasing their importance. I will give you an example. Drug smugglers from all over the world are in contact with the US secret agencies. These agencies do not want to eradicate narcotics cultivation and trafficking because their importance will be diminished. The people in the US Drug Enforcement Department are encouraging drug trade so that they could show performance and get millions of dollars worth of budget. General Noriega was made a drug baron by the CIA and, in need, he was made a scapegoat. In the same way, whether it is President Bush or any other US President, they cannot bring Israel to justice for its human rights abuses or to hold it accountable for such crimes. What is this? Is it not that there exists a government within the government in the United Sates? That secret government must be asked as to who made the attacks[...]

Foreseeing The Future

Prescient,

Psychic Nikki Haley: "If there is a future chemical weapons attack, Assad did it" Caitlin Johnstone
“If they want to continue to go the route of taking over Syria, they can do that,” said Nikki Haley at a UN press conference today, without explaining how a nation’s only recognized government can ‘take over’ the country it governs. “But they cannot do it with chemical weapons. They can’t do it assaulting their people. And we’re not gonna fall for it. If there are chemical weapons that are used, we know exactly who’s gonna use them.”
[I guess that makes it all clear enough.]

US says it has intelligence to the effect that Basher Assad MD will gas some of his own people, as soon as the Syrian army starts to win decisively in the province of Idlib, which has been taken over by moderate renamed terrorists, employed by the CIA.
The Wall Street Journal has just published a bombshell on Sunday evening as Russian and Syrian warplanes continue bombing raids over al-Qaeda held Idlib, citing unnamed US officials who claim "President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has approved the use of chlorine gas in an offensive against the country’s last major rebel stronghold."
"Project Underpants", US plans for permanent bases in Syria to extract oil, money and favors.
Syria and its allies Russia and Iran should proceed with their plans to cleanse Idleb of terrorist. The U.S. is bluffing. It has no realistic means to prevent the operation. Any U.S. attack on Syrian and Russian forces involved in it would likely escalate into a conflict between nuclear powers. That is a risk the U.S. military is unwilling to take. It knows that the forces it planted into Syria are vulnerable to attacks.

US jets attack Syrian town with banned white phosphorous bombs (which burn skin and lungs horribly when the aerosol seeks out flesh to react with chemically) Nobody wants to die like this. The world agreed long ago to never use this stuff again. Chemical weapon of mass destruction. War Crime.
The use of any incendiary munitions in populated civilian areas was banned by the 1980 Protocol III of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. The US signed the protocol back in 2009.
White phosphorus, however, is also used for smoke screens and signals, which are not banned under the Convention. The loophole allows several nations, including the US, to keep the white-phosphorus based weapons in their arsenal.

America as Diabolical False Flag Empire (nothing particularly new for over 150 years), a book review and summary.
The attacks of 11 September 2001 are the false flag fulcrum upon which his two books pivot. Their importance cannot be overestimated, not just for their inherent cruelty that resulted in thousands of innocent American deaths, but since they became the justification for the United States’ ongoing murderous campaigns termed “the war on terror” that have brought death to millions of people around the world.  An international array of expendable people.  Terrifying as they were, and were meant to be, they have many precedents, although much of this history is hidden in the shadows.  Griffin shines a bright light on them, with most of his analysis focused on the years 1850-2018.

Exhausted Venezuelans have more to protest about in the streets, with the revelation that the US was trying to stage a coup in their country, which has weakened with a decade and a half of covert warfare, economic, political, criminal, etc.

American farmers can't actually live and farm any more. It's final. They are debt slaves with double the suicide rate of Iraq War veterans. They have to strictly do precisely as they are told, but have no right to pay or benefits, being wholly-owned-debt-slave-independent-contractors. Kansas is vacant.
You’ll have to get off the land. The plows’ll go through the dooryard. …It’s not us, it’s the bank. A bank isn’t like a man. Or an owner with fifty thousand acres, he isn’t like a man either. That’s the monster.

North Korean Military Parade has Floats and Flowers, not Missiles (Style Points!)
“North Korea upholds the consensus of the Singapore meeting between the leaders of North Korea and the United States and has taken steps for it and hopes the United States takes corresponding steps, to jointly promote the political resolution process for the peninsula issue,” the report paraphrased Kim as saying.

Africa is not really getting bad deals from China, and some outright aid, and no regime-change pressure. Pepe Escobar has the story.
As Nick Turse extensively documented in his must-read book Tomorrow’s Battlefield, there are at least 50 US military bases Africa-wide – ranging from what AFRICOM designates as “forward operating sites” to fuzzy “cooperative security locations” or “non-enduring contingency locations.” Not to mention 36 AFRICOM bases in 24 African nations that have not previously made it to official reports.
What this spells out, once again, is further evidence of the ever-replicating Empire of Bases. And that brings us to Africa’s stark “contingency location” choice. In the ultra-high-stakes development game, who’re you gonna call? FOCAC and the New Silk Roads, or Ghostbusters AFRICOM?

I know who wrote the anonymous “senior Trump official” op-ed in the New York Times. The New York Times wrote it.
The op-ed (http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/50194.htm) is an obvious forgery. As a former senior official in a presidential administration, I can state with certainty that no senior official would express disagreement anonymously. Anonymous dissent has no credibility. Moreover, the dishonor of it undermines the character of the writer. A real dissenter would use his reputation and the status of his high position to lend weight to his dissent.

Choosing One

Suspects,

Is VP Mike Pence the "coward" who wrote the NYT resisting-Trump-from-inside-the-White-House op-ed? The writer used the word "lodestar" which Pence, and only Pence uses. To me, that may be like a throw-down-gun at a crime scene where the cop killed somebody. Everybody knows about speech analysis to identify people, these days. This could be an editorial false-flag. Is there really an insider who wrote the article? If so, did that insider use "lodestar" to create a false lead? Pence says he didn't write it. Makes sense. He'd lose too much.
Bookies are taking odds on who it is. Pence and Sessions are front-runners. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchen, "globalist-but-I-like-him" per Trump, is at 4:1 odds. He's the kind of Decepticon who could arrange this, but he would have covered all his trails and used speech patterns unlike his own.

Eleni sends "How People Become Easily Controlled by Tyrants", by Brandon Smith. This is a good psychological profiling of how sociopaths with narcissisitic features (and talent) manipulate perceptions in individuals and crowds, turning populations to zealotry, at which point they can be told to do anything (for the higher cause), having given up individual judgement of morality.

The Jerusalem Post has confirmed it was told to remove a story on Israel providing weapons and supplies to anti-Assad factions fighting in Syria by the Israeli army's military censor.
In a written statement to RT News, the Jerusalem Post said, “We were told by the army’s military censor to remove that part of the story.”

Eleni also sends: What Lies Beneath: The US-Israeli Plot to "Save" Gaza
Maximum strangulation has been applied for years, with repeated Israeli bombing, bombardment and shooting of civilians of all ages. Now, humanitarian aid is being cut off by the US, creating acute crisis on chronic crisis, desperation for the isolated families of prisoners in Gaza, represented by Hamas. Hamas and Fatah have long since been divided. This is another push to allow a little air, food and water, for agreeing to a settlement on Israeli terms, giving up all that is recognized by UN resolutions. No right of return, nothing but some food and water now. (It's like that Jewish story of Jacob giving up his birthright to Esau for some soup.)

Late Wednesday evening North Korea announced it would pursue denuclearization by the end of President Trump's first term, or by early 2021. The announcement came via South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his national security advisor Chung Eui-yong, who met with North Korea's Kim Jong Un the day prior.
Kim has reportedly set down a timeline for denuclearization, the first step of which is a meeting summit between himself and the South Korean president in Pyongyang on Sept. 18-20, during which the two have pledged to discuss "practical measures" toward denuclearization.
This included a personal "good faith" message reportedly sent from Kim to President Trump via the South Korean envoy, to which the president has already responded early Thursday morning via Twitter: Kim Jong Un of North Korea proclaims “unwavering faith in President Trump.” Thank you to Chairman Kim. We will get it done together! - Trump stated.

In his remarks on the planned timeline, Chung further said that Kim showed “frustration over the doubt raised by some parts of the international community about his willingness to denuclearize, and asked us to convey his message to the United States”.
“He said he would appreciate that such good faith is accepted with good faith,” Chung said. “He expressed his strong will to carry out more proactive measures toward denuclearization if action is taken in response to the North’s preemptive steps.”

(psst... midterm elections. Looks like the Koreans will do the work to make this happen, There has to be a peace treaty to get this started, then US leaves.)

Tom Luongo looks at the steady resurgence of nationalism in Europe. Globalists are losing their grasp, and the finances for their usual short term bribes.
This looks at Italy, Germany, Hungary and Spain, where politics are very much in transition.

It's either hemp or...
We explore the risk that self-reinforcing feedbacks could push the Earth System toward a planetary threshold that, if crossed, could prevent stabilization of the climate at intermediate temperature rises and cause continued warming on a “Hothouse Earth” pathway even as human emissions are reduced. Crossing the threshold would lead to a much higher global average temperature than any interglacial in the past 1.2 million years and to sea levels significantly higher than at any time in the Holocene. We examine the evidence that such a threshold might exist and where it might be.

Deck Chairs Again

Bottom 99.99974%,

Eleni sends: Exposing the Giants: The Global Elite
Phillips identifies the 199 directors of the seventeen global financial Giants and offers short biographies and public information on their individual net wealth. These individuals are closely interconnected through numerous networks of association including the World Economic Forum, the International Monetary Conference, university affiliations, various policy councils, social clubs, and cultural enterprises...
The Giants, Phillips documents, invest in each other but also in many hundreds of investment management firms, many of which are near-Giants. This results in tens of trillions of dollars coordinated in a single vast network of global capital controlled by a very small number of people. ‘Their constant objective is to find enough safe investment opportunities for a return on capital that allows for continued growth. Inadequate capital-placement opportunities lead to dangerous speculative investments, buying up of public assets, and permanent war spending.’...
Phillips identifies two very important global elite policy-planning organizations: the Group of Thirty (which has 32 members) and the extended executive committee of the Trilateral Commission (which has 55 members). These nonprofit corporations, which each have a research and support staff, formulate elite policy and issue instructions for their implementation by the transnational governmental institutions like the G7, G20, IMF, WTO, and World Bank. Elite policies are also implemented following instruction of the relevant agent, including governments, in the context. These agents then do as they are instructed. Thus, these 85 members (because two overlap) of the Group of Thirty and the Trilateral Commission comprise a central group of facilitators of global capitalism, ensuring that‘global capital remains safe, secure, and growing’...

So what is the global elite’s purpose? In a few sentences Phillips characterizes it thus: The elite is largely united in support of the US/NATO military empire that prosecutes a repressive war against resisting groups – typically labeled ‘terrorists’ – around the world. The real purpose of ‘the war on terror’ is defense of transnational globalization, the unimpeded flow of financial capital around the world, dollar hegemony and access to oil; it has nothing to do with repressing terrorism which it generates, perpetuates and finances to provide cover for its real agenda. This is why the United States has a long history of CIA and military interventions around the world ostensibly in defense of ‘national interests’.

India joins China in arranging mechanisms to import Iranian oil. (Iran will provide the ships and the insurance in both cases. If these ships are taken or destroyed, it is completely the loss of Iran. Such acts of war are certainly a consideration for the US military, Israel, etc.) China and India could use all Iran exports.

Turkey and Russia also refuse to sanction Iran. Europe is working on work-arounds, but more importantly, alliances are shifting to re-align with national interests that are not being met by the US.

Iran moved some Scudlike short range missiles into Iraq, spreading out potential targets for US/Israeli airstrikes. Israel says (what others already said) that they might go blow up those missiles in Iraq. (Surely Israeli pilots are free to bomb any country they please. What could possibly stop them?)

Ahead of the Battle Of Idleb, there are negotiations, threats, posturing and last minute arrangements.
How much of a deal can be made? What terms? Syria will take the province. Where will 100,000 Jihadis and their families go?
HTS and its allies must have some 15-25,000 fighters, the groups aligned with Turkey may have a slightly lower number, some are locals and they are probably less willing to fight. In total the Syrian army is likely to face a force of some 30-45,000 capable and willing fighters.
What these groups currently lack is the supply of weapons and ammunition. In August 2018 not one anti-tank guided missiles was used against the Syrian army. The U.S. officially ended its supplies for the "rebels". The Gulf states have washed their hands over Idelb. It is no longer their fight. Turkey also seems to have stopped weapon supplies. Without constant resupply of anti-tank weapons and especially artillery ammunition the "rebel" groups will soon run out of the basic necessities for waging war...
The current situation can not continue. It is unconscionable to leave the 1-2 million civilians in Syria under the rule of al-Qaeda. HTS is just now arresting hundreds of civilians who want to reconcile with the government. It builds gallows as warning to not talk to the government. It executes those who do and publishes pictures of it.

On American Capitalism. It's working fine. Don't look for reform.
Capitalism isn’t broken; it’s working precisely as it’s supposed to: generating surpluses and giving all of them to a small ownership class. The New Deal and postwar prosperity, which barely lasted until 1980, represent historic outliers—the one significant period in which growth at the top was somewhat constrained and a relatively large share of wealth went to the middle.

Jim Kunstler: The Uncomfortable Hiatus:
Agri-biz style farming, based on oil-and-gas plus bank loans is a ruinous practice, and will not continue in any case. Can we make choices and policies to promote a return to smaller scale farming with intelligent methods rather than just brute industrial force plus debt? If we don’t, a lot of people will starve to death. By the way, here is the useful work for a large number of citizens currently regarded as unemployable for one reason or another.
Pervasive racketeering rules because we allow it to, especially in education and medicine. Both are self-destructing under the weight of their own money-grubbing schemes. Both are destined to be severely downscaled. A lot of colleges will go out of business. Most college loans will never be paid back (and the derivatives based on them will blow up). We need millions of small farmers more than we need millions of communications majors with a public relations minor. It may be too late for a single-payer medical system. A collapsing oil-based industrial economy means a lack of capital, and fiscal hocus-pocus is just another form of racketeering. Medicine will have to get smaller and less complex and that means local clinic-based health care. Lots of careers there, and that is where things are going, so get ready.

Senator Mark Warner: "Congress will have to set social media regulations."

GOOGLE won't be talking to the Senate, just now...
The Senate Intelligence Committee wanted to hear from Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive, or his boss Larry Page, the chief executive of Google’s parent firm, Alphabet.
Barring a dramatic, last-minute change of plan, the BBC understands neither will attend. It would mark the first time a technology firm has refused to comply with the wishes of Congress since the far-reaching inquiries into misinformation and meddling began in the wake of the 2016 election.
Google had instead hoped to send Kent Walker, one of its top lawyers. The offer was abruptly shut down by the committee. Its vice chairman, the Democratic Senator Mark Warner, said an empty chair would be left out to represent Google’s non-appearance.

"Obesity is a disorder of excess fat accumulation, not overeating, and not sedentary behavior."
"Consuming excess calories does not cause us to grow fatter, any more than it causes a child to grow taller."
"Expending more energy than we consume does not lead to long-term weight loss; it leads to hunger."
"Fattening and obesity are caused by an imbalance - a disequilibrium - in the hormonal regulation of adipose tissue and fat metabolism. Fat synthesis and storage exceed the mobilization of fat from the adipose tissue and its subsequent oxidation. We become leaner when the hormonal regulation of the fat tissue reverses this balance."
"Insulin is the primary regulator of fat storage. When insulin levels are elevated - either chronically or after a meal - we accumulate fat in our fat tissue. When insulin levels fall, we release fat from our fat tissue and use it for fuel."

Belabored

Day Laborers,

From the same friendly folks who brought you the Vietnam War, Afghanistan, Iraq 1&2, Libya, and are STILL bringing you the Korean War...

Plans for a nuclear war devised by the US Army in the 1960s considered decimating the Soviet Union and China by destroying their industrial potential and wiping out the bulk of their populations, newly declassified documents show.
A review of the US general nuclear war plan by the Joint Staff in 1964, which was recently published by George Washington University’s National Security Archive project, shows how the Pentagon studied options “to destroy the USSR and China as viable societies.”
The review, conducted two years after the Cuban Missile Crisis, devises the destruction of the Soviet Union “as a viable society” by annihilating 70 percent of its industrial floor space during pre-emptive and retaliatory nuclear strikes.
A similar goal is tweaked for China, given its more agrarian-based economy at the time. According to the plan, the US would wipe out 30 major Chinese cities, killing off 30 percent of the nation’s urban population and halving its industrial capabilities. The successful execution of the large-scale nuclear assault would ensure that China “would no longer be a viable nation,” the review reads.
The Joint Staff had proposed to use the “population loss as the primary yardstick for effectiveness in destroying the enemy society with only collateral attention to industrial damage.” This “alarming” idea meant that, as long as urban workers and managers were killed, the actual damage to industrial targets “might not be as important

Thierry Meyssan is a French investigative reporter who happened to be filming in New York on 9/11/01 and put forth the first significant documentary pointing out the obvious impossibilities and falsehoods contained within the official government and media "narrative". Eleni sends the stories from Voltaire Network today, including this open letter to President Trump.
Notably, Real Estate Tycoon Trump immediately pointed out the impossibility of the planes bringing down the towers on New York TV. He had previously been to examine the (minimal) damage after the first WTC truck-bombing in the parking garage, along with one of the architects who worked for him. That architect  had also helped design and build the WTC.
Mister President, not only are you and your compatriots suffering from the diarchy which has sneaked into power in your country since the coup d’état of 11 September 2001, but the whole world is a victim.
Mister President, 9/11 is not ancient history. It is the triumph of transnational interests which are crushing not only your people, but all of humanity which aspires to freedom.

Tom Luongo says "Trump doesn't want peace with the EU":
Donald Trump is on a mission.  His goal? Destroy the post-WWII institutional order that has outlived its usefulness.

After Facebook got rid of Alex Jones (who went through hell under Bush for opposing the post 9/11 wars, whether you like him or not) it got rid of an anti-globalist-empire voice from South America. This is just the start. "Fake news" is whatever those former CIA Directors say is fake. Got it?
TeleSur also produces information in English that Mark Zuckerberg intends to eliminate from the web. It is indeed essential for the US command of Latin America (US SouthCom) to prevent the Venezuelan authorities from communicating their vision of the crisis which crosses their country to the American citizens.

According to the (UN) Charter, the purpose of the Organization is to peacefully settle differences between nations. However, since July 2012, the real power is no longer held by the Secretary General, but by his "number 2": the Director of Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman...
It turns out that in October 2017, Jeffrey Feltman issued a secret directive to all agencies and departments of the Organization prohibiting them from participating in any action that could help lift the Syrian economy. The Security Council has not been informed of this initiative.
Former US ambassador to Beirut, then Hillary Clinton’s deputy for the wider Middle East, Jeffrey Felman had already written, when he took office in New York in July 2012, a plan for total and unconditional surrender of the Syrian Arab Republic [2]. On this basis, he foiled all peace negotiations, led by Kofi Annan, Lakhdar Brahimi or Stefan de Mistura.

The U.S. is not fighting ISIS in Syria. It is building semi-permanent bases, trains a large proxy force, and controls Syria's oilfields. Its aim is still regime change, the same aim it had when it launched the war on Syria seven and a half years ago. To achieve that it will continue to sow as much chaos as possible.

In 2013, top Obama Administration officials described their policy in the Syrian War as one of keeping the war going. The administration wanted a big seat at the table for a political settlement, which officials clarified meant ensuring that the war kept going so that there was never a clear victor.
The Trump Administration seems to be slipping into that same destructive set of priorities in Syria. TheWashington Post this week quoted an unnamed Administration official as saying that “right now, our job is to help create quagmires [for Russia and the Syrian regime] until we get what we want.”
It is this desire that has the US repeatedly threatening Syria and warning them not to attack Idlib. It is this desire that is sparking almost daily US threats to intervene militarily if the Idlib offensive involves chemical weapons. Most importantly, it is this desire that has Russia very much believing media reports that the rebels could “stage” a fake chemical attack just to suck the US into the war, and be fairly confident it would work.

Due to unfavorable advance publicity the chemical weapon false flag attack, needed to justify American missile and air attacks against Syrian soldiers, is being rescheduled. Details to follow later.

The US military and intelligence have already compiled a list of preliminary targets they would strike in response to another chemical-weapons incident in Syria, CNN reported, citing US administration officials.
The military are ready to “respond very quickly”

On September 1, two Tu-142MK maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft of the Russian Naval Aviation arrived in the Hmeimim airbase in western Syria
.
The Tu-142MK has a combat radius of 6,500km and can fly as high as 12km. The maritime reconnaissance and ASW aircraft can be also armed with different types of torpedoes, bombs and anti-ship missiles, such as the advance Kh-35. The two aircraft are expected to participate in the ongoing massive drills of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Syria, which will end on September 8. According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Russia has deployed its largest naval armada since the Syrian war amid mutual allegations of an imminent chemical attack, and includes 25 warships led by the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser and 30 aircraft, including the strategic Tu-160 missile-carrying bombers are participating in the drills.

No wonder 18,000 Ughurs are working as "rebels" in Syria; there's nothing but detention centers back home.
The United Nations has called on China to end the detention of what it has cited as "tens of thousands to upwards of a million Uighurs" in the far western Xinjiang province.
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Thursday urged China to "halt the practice of detaining individuals who have not been lawfully charged, tried, and convicted for a criminal offense in any extra-legal detention center."

John McCain and the Uniparty's Funeral for Itself:
Yesterday the country was forced to endure an extravagant display of the Uniparty’s self-regard, and of the media’s boundless dishonesty, when everyone who represents everything that is wrong with America gathered in the National Cathedral for the funeral service of John McCain.

"Hothouse Earth" is the beginning of the end. This is another moment to reflect on how we will change our lives: proactively, or as herded beasts (or both).

Curt Cobb points out that the tools we rely upon to solve problems will have already been undermined by climate change, when we are finally prepared to use them to adapt.
In the United States, we are starting with an infrastructure that has been very badly neglected—so badly that the American Society of Civil Engineers gave the country a D+ on its latest infrastructure report card. The organization estimated that the country needs to spend $4.5 trillion by 2025 just to bring its infrastructure up to good conditio

Chris Martenson: Our precious ecosphere is disintegrating. The fossil fuels bonanza we are hopelessly addicted to is ending. But there is no Plan B to deal with these existential challenges (beyond the elites' private plans to bunker down and ride out the trouble when it begins).
The message to take from this is: You are on your own.  There’s no benevolent government preparing to step in and sort things out for you if/when collapse arrives.  Your pensions are already gone -- the math is cruelly certain on that. Self-interested corporations set the rules. Power will never be fairly redistributed due to elections.
Were a future of unlimited growth possible, these worries wouldn't really matter.  But it isn’t. So none of this is fine.  Now that the pie is no longer growing, the obvious truth is that the rigged system is handing over a larger and larger portion of that stagnant pie to fewer and fewer people.

Flesh Eating Deep State

Fed Like Mushrooms,

Beginning the month of September, and approaching "Patriot Day" 9/11, it is as relevant as ever to look at the events that happened in New York 9/11/01, and consider the laws of physics, vs the official account of what  befell some tall buildings with asbestos that were too expensive to refurbish or demolish for their new owner, who had just taken out some very special insurance on them.
This story does not do that, but Russia is now distinguishing, in official speech, between the elected and official government of the United States, and the other pole of political power, which we commonly call "the deep state".
Eleni sends this.
In the space of two days, the Federation of Russia called into question the coherence of the United Nations and that of the United States.
At the beginning of the Cold War, the United States thought about how they would be able to survive a Soviet atomic attack which would have killed their President and parliamentarians outright. President Eisenhower therefore nominated a phantom government tasked with ensuring continuity in case such an attack should occur. This secret entity was renewed periodically by his successors and still exists today.
For eighteen years, I have been defending the thesis according to which the United States are no longer governed by their President and Congress, but by this replacement entity. Basing my work on official US documents, I interpreted the attacks of 11 September 2001 as a coup d’etat operated by this unelected authority. Fearing that I am contesting the democratic ideal, my critics have rejected my work in its entirety, without really discussing it nor even reading it.

Pepe Escobar again looks at the Great-Game of geopolitics. It's starting to boil...
Both Eurasianist Russia and civilization-state China are already on post-Westphalian mode. The redesign goes deep. It includes a key treaty signed in 2001, only a few weeks before 9/11, stressing that both nations renounce any territorial designs on one another’s territory. This happens to concern, crucially, the Primorsky Territory in the Russian Far East along the Amur River, which was ruled by the Ming and Qing empires.
Moreover, Russia and China commit never to do deals with any third party, or allow a third country to use its territory to harm the other’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
So much for turning Russia against China. Instead, what will develop 24/7 are variations of U.S. military and economic containment against Russia, China and Iran – the key nodes of Eurasia integration.

The (deep state) empire will not be able to keep Afghanistan as an area of turmoil in the Eruasian heartland forever. China has been ploddingly making moves and building relationships there.
China will build a brigade-size military training facility in the strategic Wakhan Corridor, the land bridge between Tajikistan and Pakistan, which is located in Afghanistan’s northeast Badakhshan province and borders China...
China is already Afghanistan’s biggest investor. In 2007 it took a $3 billion, 30-year lease for the Aynak copper mine. China and Pakistan have offered to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan. Some have concluded that the CPEC invitation is a prelude to positioning China as a mediator to end the Afghan conflict.

In the media we get a very different portrayal of what Trump and Kim agreed for Korea, which was to declare peace, and then begin the road to complete denuclearization of a peaceful (not militarily occupied) Korea. This is because the machine that runs the empire is not in agreement with negotiator-in-chief Trump.
The North Koreans are wondering if Trump can deliver – and if he’ll even be in the Oval Office much longer. “Fragmented and messed-up US politics” is synonymous with the possibility that the President may be impeached by a Democratic-controlled Congress, depending on which way the midterm elections go.
“President Trump has a ‘dream,’ which is about achieving the epochal cause of improving North Korea-US relations and establishing world peace, but he has too many enemies.
“His administration and even his advisors are sleeping in the same bed with the president but dreaming different dreams. They are speaking and acting in a way that is inconsistent with the president’s wish, and they are misleading facts to blur the president’s eyes and ears and steering him toward making unintended decisions."https://original.antiwar.com/justin/2018/08/29/korea-fake-news-and-whats-really-going-on/

Trump's promise to end the Korean War would remove the automatic justification for massive US military presence in Asia, and the continuing pretext that keeps open the option of undebated military attacks upon North Korea.

The US blocks preparation for a train to run the tracks from South Korea to North Korea this year to check out the route. NO!

The deep state was so powerful, and self-assured, that it allowed a whole lot of sloppiness. Hillary Clinton's "private" email server, when she was Secretary of State, selling American Uranium to Russia for cheap-and-a-bribe, was sending "courtesy updates" to a Chinese company every time Mrs. Clinton emailed. We can't see that. It's private. The FBI said "careless, but harmless". Trump says it's a big breach of security and needs criminal investigation.
This does appear to be an instance of Trump against at least one branch of the deep state.
(Sorry, I can't find anything more mainstream than Fox and Sputnik on this one.)

According to three Iranian officials, two Iraqi intelligence sources and two Western intelligence sources, Iran has transferred short-range ballistic missiles to allies in Iraq over the last few months. Five of the officials said it was helping those groups to start making their own.
“The logic was to have a backup plan if Iran was attacked,” one senior Iranian official told Reuters. “The number of missiles is not high, just a couple of dozen, but it can be increased if necessary.”
Reuters identifies the Zelzal, Fateh-110 and Zolfaqar missile systems as among those transferred — with ranges of between 200 and 700km, which puts "Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh or the Israeli city of Tel Aviv within striking distance if the weapons were deployed in southern or western Iraq".
The Iraqi official continued, “Iran will definitely use the missiles it handed over to Iraqi militia it supports to send a strong message to its foes in the region and the United States that it has the ability to use Iraqi territories as a launch pad for its missiles to strike anywhere and anytime it decides.”

Israel declares (again) that some buildings in Syria are Iranian missile emplacements, directly threatening Israeli  "freedom" to bomb Syria.
You know what this leads to...

Eleni sends this article, proposing that since Syrian regime change is not hppening, the next target is Hezbollah. (Hezbollah is almost impossible to "target".)

Saudi Arabia condemns UN report on war Crimes in Yemen (of course). "They ignore our good reasons!"

Trump's off-the-record gloating about privately humiliating Canada in trade negotiations was leaked. He wanted to avoid public humiliation and the loss of national honor, which Canadian negotiators would be unable to accept. Bloomberg is in trouble for whispering the off-the-record blockbuster to the Toronto Star. Was this intentional? Why did he say stuff like that to reporters if he did not want it to get out? He's not denying it. Odd face-slapping game...
Trump took to Twitter on Friday, saying that the "powerful understanding" between Bloomberg and him was "blatantly violated" by the leak of his comments that weren't intended for public dissemination. He said that it was yet another example of "dishonest reporting," which he already got used to since moving into the White House.
"At least Canada knows where I stand," Trump added, thus confirming the authenticity of the leak.

Italian Minister of Economic Affairs, Paolo Savona says that The Euro is Germany's 1940 Reichsbank Plan and Italy should withdraw. Thanks Eleni.
Paolo Savona, the new Italian Minister of Economic Affairs, believes that Germany is executing the 1940 Walther Funk plan.

Walther Funk was Director of the Bank of International Settlements and, in 1939, Hitler appointed him as the President of the Reichsbank. Mr Savona laid down his views in a 2012 letter to his German and Italian friends. “The Funk Plan, provided for national currencies to converge into the German mark’s area and this is what you would like and have partially achieved,” Paolo Savona wrote. “It also envisaged,” he continued, “that industrial development only pertained to yourselves and that you would only be accompanied by France, your ‘historical’ ally, a solution now caused by the common European market and the single currency. The Plan wanted other countries to devote themselves to agriculture and tourist services, something that will happen out of necessity or because of a natural ‘calling’ and they will lend skilled labour to your leadership project.”
