  Firstly, two of my close family members are much improved from COVID today, on ivermectin, zinc and doxycycline treatment.

  Secondly, people need to be people, and part of that is getting together to maintain the bonds of kinship at Thanksgiving and Christmas. 

This is human identity, not an optional consumer choice. This is core human life.

  So far this year I bought over $500 worth of vitamin-D in 5000 unit (125 microgram) dosage and gave it away. 

It may have been a lot more than $500. I didn't keep track. 

There was an outbreak of 6 cases among staff at Jenny's school recently. 

She gave away $120 worth of vitamin-D and I prescribed ivermectin, zinc and doxycycline for 3 people as a favor.

  Yesterday morning I ordered #200 bottles of #100 capsules each of 5000 unit vitamin-D for $670 to give to anybody and everybody by Christmas. 

I gave a bottle to a panhandler I often donate to yesterday morning on my bike commute to work, 

I gave another bottle to a school crossing guard who waves at me. 

I explained to both guys why to take it every day. I'm out now.

Missouri & Louisiana Join Texas Taking The Election Fight To Supreme Court

A Texas-sized mess may have just appeared but if you check the news you will not see much reference to it.
​  ​Yesterday, the Arizona supreme court refused to hear a Trump appeal, and the Nevada supreme court looks to be leaning against a similar case too. Those moves towards ‘game over’ for Trump got covered. The US Supreme Court heard the reply from Pennsylvania in the case over the constitutionality of voting by mail there, which basically did not deny the complaint but said “You really don’t want to open this constitutional can of worms”; and the Court then denied the call for emergency injunctive relief against certifying its election results. That ‘game over’ got covered too.
​  ​What did not get covered is that Texas filed a case with the Supreme Court against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin calling for the election results to be overturned in those states, and for the constitutional remedy of returning the selection of electors to state legislatures, claiming:
​  ​Non-legislative actors’ purported amendments to States’ duly enacted election laws, in violation of the Electors Clause’s vesting State legislatures with plenary authority regarding the appointment of presidential electors.
​  ​Intrastate differences in the treatment of voters, with more favorable allotted to voters -whether lawful or unlawful– in areas administered by local government under Democrat control and with populations with higher ratios of Democrat voters than other areas of Defendant States.
​  ​The appearance of voting irregularities in the Defendant States that would be consistent with the unconstitutional relaxation of ballot-integrity protections in those States’ election laws.
​  ​As one election law expert put it, the US constitution is effectively a contract between the 50 states, including how their president is elected, and Texas is claiming other parties broke parts of that contract. Texas is apparently now supported by Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee. Talk about a divided country. 

​  ​Perhaps not a surprise, the Supreme Court took the Texas case in expedited fashion, and has called for a response by 3PM Thursday.

​  An awful lot has been churning in the deep background for months before the election. Mr. Trump was onto the mass write-in vote scam enabled by the media-assisted hysteria over Covid-19. The wheels of genuine US intel against national security threats still turned in spite of whatever Deep State perfidy had been aimed at Mr. Trump himself from Day One in office, and the president made use of his own private counter-intel hackers to suss out the game — which was finally to overthrow him by ballot fraud. The result was Executive Order 13848 issued in September 2020, which specified foreign interference in elections as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security” and laid out some pretty stringent remedies.
  The main one was a requirement for the top executive agencies — DOJ, DOD, Homeland Security, Treasury plus the Director of National Intelligence (Mr. Ratcliffe) — to deliver an assessment within 45 days of the election. We’re now in the sweet-spot of that 45-day delivery period when something has to pop. Looks a little like the AG, Mr. Barr, has been dithering and wriggling painfully over this, and even making noises about resigning. But he may have already surrendered his credibility, with the foot-dragging of the FBI under Christopher Wray and the agency’s apparent lack of interest in election fraud. The consequences of EO 13848 will roll out with him or without him.
  The real action was over at the Department of Defense, where the President hastily cleaned house this fall and installed the trustworthy Christopher Miller as SecDef, along with top aide Kash Patel and Ezra Cohen-Watnick as Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security. Mr. Cohen-Watnick had been an assistant to General Michael Flynn, former Director of Defense Intelligence, in his brief tenure as National Security Advisor before getting sandbagged by Barack Obama and James Comey.
  Both Mr. Cohen-Watnick and General Flynn are intimately familiar with the apparatus of Defense Intelligence, of course, and have been actively using it to identify DNC and Joe Biden activists who played a role in election irregularities as well as foreign actors...

  The “remedial actions” are interesting. They include pretty severe sanctions against any “persons” (entity or company) involved in or enabling foreign interference in elections: attaching property in the US, blocking trade, and an array of financial restrictions and penalties. The EO does not spell out criminal penalties that might fall under the sedition and treason statutes, but expect these to be activated as the law provides.   

  Quite a few political celebrities and figures in the news and social media may have exposed themselves to liability in this. If it doesn’t mean the end of Facebook or Twitter, it may spell the end of Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey running them. Also include the less-well-known execs at The WashPo, The New York Times, and several cable news networks.

  Controlling this bloated, undemocratic blob is no easy task, and shrinking it seems nearly impossible. The Founders envisioned the core dilemma: creating a central state energetic enough to act but constrained enough to stay within constitutional bounds. The path to restoring more “ordered liberty” begins with limiting a government run by executive orders and bureaucratic regulations, preventing unfettered, one-party control, and clawing back the Supreme Court precedents that give the president and federal bureaucracies such vast authority.
  Voters get a voice in these big choices. Their next opportunity is Jan. 5 in Georgia.

  Taking 5000 units per day vitamin D3 is a good baseline. If you have never taken it, then taking twice that much per day for 2 months is a good idea to get your level up into the normal range. If you weigh over 100 kg, you could even take 3 X 5000 units per day for a couple of months. It is diffused into fat. 40,000 units is equal to 1 little milligram of vitamin D. 400 units (USRDA) is indistinguishable from nothing.

  SARS-CoV-2 infection begins in the nasopharynx, and most people, about 80%, especially young, healthy people, contain it there, with the innate immune system.

I'm not sure if it can/does cause fever when only in the nasopharynx. I am inclined to consider fever a sign that it has gotten into the system, like lungs, gut and bloodstream.

  Once the virus is in the systemic circulation it does unique things, especially where ACE-2 receptors are expressed. It binds to these (and also cholesterol receptors, but weaker), gains entry to cells and begins replicating. This virus can heavily infect cells without destroying them, very heavily and this is unusual. It also suppresses the cellular expression of marker protein that guide the immune system to destroy infected cells. HIV does this same trick.

  ACE-2 receptors are expressed in respiratory mucosa and epithelium, arteries and arterioles, in the gut, and in heart muscle cells, cardiomyocytes, where there is evidence that it can induce permanent changes that make cellular contraction quite dysfunctional. These are permanent cells, like brain cells. They are not replaceable.

  Some people of any age get long term fatigue, aches, weakness and shortness of breath on exertion, even after fairly mild illness. Nobody wants to be in this group. This has made me have a lower threshold for treating with antivirals.

I feel like any patient with a fever, lung or gut symptoms who wants treatment will get it prescribed from me.

  There has been a good case for treatment with hydroxychloroquine + zinc, but there is now a better case to treat with ivermectin, zinc and (or not) doxycycline.

Any antiviral treatment will work better to reduce morbidity when it is given sooner, reducing viral spread and systemic viral loads.

  I am currently treating with ivermectin at 200 micrograms per kilogram per dose (1 mg per 11# body weight) on days 1, 3, 5 and 7, but stopping if all symptoms have resolved except mild nasal symptoms like loss of smell.

  There is also a good case for taking: Zinc (any form) 50 mg 3 times per day, vitamin-C 1000 mg 3 times per day, NAC 600 mg 3 times per day, higher dose vitamin-D 5000  units 3 times per day, and doxycycline 100 mg twice per day during the treatment course.

Quercetin can also be taken, at divided doses in the range of 200 mg per day to 600 mg per day. It helps zinc enter infected (and other) cells, which is also what HCQ seems to do.

  Only ivermectin and doxycycline are prescription drugs. The doxycycline might be considered optional at this point.

This again raises the question I keep having about the possibility of low level viral infection causing persistent symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of smell.

​  ​I would describe the WEF as a combination capitalist consulting firm and gigantic lobby.  The futuristic predictions are designed to guide investors into profitable areas in what Schwab calls “the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR)” and then, as the areas are defined, to put pressure on governments to support such investments by way of subsidies, tax breaks, procurements, regulations and legislation.  In short, the WEF is the lobby for new technologies, digital everything, artificial intelligence, transhumanism.
​  ​It is powerful today because it is operating in an environment of State Capitalism, where the role of the State (especially in the United States, less so in Europe) has been largely reduced to responding positively to the demands of such lobbies, especially the financial sector.  Immunized by campaign donations from the obscure wishes of ordinary people, most of today’s politicians practically need the guidance of lobbies such as the WEF to tell them what to do.
​  ​In the 20th century, notably in the New Deal, the government was under pressure from conflicting interests.  The economic success of the armaments industry during World War II gave birth to a Military-Industrial Complex, which has become a permanent structural factor in the U.S. economy.
​ ​It is the dominant role of the MIC and its resulting lobbies that have definitively transformed the nation into State Capitalism rather than a Republic.​..

​  The WEF can be seen as analogous to the MIC.  It intends to engage governments and opinion manufacturers in the promotion of a “4IR” which will dominate the civilian economy and civilian life itself.
​  ​The pandemic is a temporary pretext; the need to “protect the environment” will be the more sustainable pretext.  Just as the MIC is presented as absolutely necessary to “protect our freedoms,” the 4IR will be hailed as absolutely necessary to “save the environment” – and in both cases, many of the measures advocated will have the opposite effect.​..

  But the real danger of all power going to the Reset lies not with what is there, but with what is not there: any serious political opposition.

​  ​Those who think that well-being is largely self-generated, dependent on attitudes, activity and lifestyle choices, miss the point. “The combination of AI [artificial intelligence], the IoT [internet of things] and sensors and wearable technology will produce new insights into personal well-being. They will model how we are and feel […] precise information on our carbon footprints, our impact on biodiversity, on the toxicity of all the ingredients we consume and the environments or spatial contexts in which we evolve will generate significant progress in terms of our awareness of collective and individual well-being.”

  The problem with PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing for SARS-CoV-2 is a problem of where the limits of sensitivity and specificity are set. Each cycle amplifies "positive" tendencies of the test. If you have to wait to 35 cycles to get a "positive", the chances are 97% that it is a false-positive. 

Most US labs are performing 35-40 amplification cycles, testing at the end, and reporting that as an absolute fact. 

   All of the specimens that would have been positive at 15 cycles, likely "clinically relevant positives" will show as positive, but so will the "positives" from 30-cycles and up, which are mostly amplified noise.

  That is why there is a clinical push for the rapid tests, antigen tests, which are much less sensitive, and may miss a few pre-symptomatic early infections, but won't create a lot of false positives. 

  PCR tests with an upper threshold of 25 cycles would be more like this, but still much slower.

​  ​When the risks of an event are small, odds ratios can be misleading about absolute risk. A more meaningful measure of efficacy would be the number to vaccinate to prevent one hospitalization or one death. Those numbers are not available. An estimate of the number to treat from the Moderna trial to prevent a single “case” would be fifteen thousand vaccinations to prevent ninety “cases” or 167 vaccinations per “case” prevented which does not sound nearly as good as 94.5 percent effective. The publicists working for pharmaceutical companies are very smart people. If there were a reduction in mortality from these vaccines, that information would be in the first paragraph of the announcement.

(The fine point is that this is a 400 IU dose, the minimum USRDA, so little as to never have been shown helpful in any medical study for any purpose. Doses for immune support are higher than for bone formation support. It takes A LOT to get blood levels up into normal range.) 

400 IU (10 microgram, 1/100th milligram) is the dose you give if you need to show vitamin-D not working. 

I'm a scientist. I have done medical research. This is how "science" is done if you know you need to show a failure.

(Notice that 4 months of 400 units per day is about 48,000 units cumulative winter dose of vitamin-D. It is less than a single day's dose in the study I reference below, which gave this as a daily dose for 14 days or more, attempting to get vitamin-D levels into the mid-normal range.)

 It's a small study, but it helps define vitamin-D dose for hospital inpatients, or anybody who needs to get vitamin-D levels up quickly. 60,000 units per day is 12 of the 5000 unit pills of vitamin D3 that we can buy at the store. That's the daily dose for about 2 weeks. Most people got into the mid-normal range on this dose and nobody's level went above the normal range. The people who got vitamin-D cleared the virus sooner, based on repeat testing. Thanks to commenter "Amazed".

​  ​The Associated Press reports on the horrific conditions in nursing homes around the country that may have led to the deaths of tens of thousands of residents in excruciating and horrific circumstances, as their families have been forbidden from caring for them. What’s more, it seems many patients simply withered away, their spirits broken from being locked in veritable solitary confinement with no contact with friends or family for months.
​  ​Medical central planning that doesn’t even recognize the spiritual and social aspect of human existence has caused the deaths of untold numbers of people around the country, perhaps more than the virus itself in the long run.
​  ​Our vaunted leaders may act like pure materialists when it comes to their dictatorial decrees obliterating society and our very humanity, but on some level they obviously understand the importance of their own spiritual health. Why else would the leaders of California be breaking their own rules to dine at luxurious restaurants or flying to Hawaii for meetings and not be content with takeout and Zoom like the rest of us peasants? But what else can be expected from a system of top-down control?
​ ​Humans are both material and spiritual beings. Just as we have material needs that central planners cannot anticipate, so too do we have spiritual needs that can only be filled in a myriad of ways that central planners cannot plan for, especially when they don’t even recognize they are needs at all. When they are not fulfilled, our physical health suffers just as assuredly as if we had a virus. The social and communal aspects of human life, whether a holiday dinner with family, going to church, having a wedding, or even the mundane relations of everyday life are not mere luxuries that can be dispensed with, they are human life itself.
