In his just published book, The CIA As Organized Crime, Douglas Valentine reports that by the early 1950s the success of the CIA’s Operation Mockingbird delivered into CIA hands respected members of the New York Times, Newsweek, CBS, other communication organizations plus stringers, coming to four to six hundred human media assets.
And it didn’t end there.
“The CIA established a strategic intelligence network of magazines and publishing houses, as well as student and cultural organizations, and used them as front organizations for covert operations, including political and psychological warfare operations directed against American citizens. In other nations, the program was aimed at what Cord Meyer called the Compatible Left, which in America translates into liberals and pseudo-intellectual status seekers who are easily influenced.

The CIA, State Department, and apparently the Pentagon as well, are already operating in social media, and they use trolls in comment sections to discredit truth-tellers... The NYTimes asks: “What plausible reason could Donald Trump have for trying so hard to discredit America’s intelligence agencies and their finding that Russia interfered in the presidential election?”...
(regarding Russian-manipulation-of-DNC-inside-information claims) Perhaps there is an effort to force Assange to reveal his source (which could be that DNC staffer who was mysteriously shot down in the street) as this would be a surefire way of getting rid of WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks has never revealed a source...
The CIA is making it clear to Trump that they are playing for keeps. Trump is a strong man, but don’t be surprised if he comes out of the briefing with the CIA accepting their story, as he might be brought to the realization that the alternative to compliance with the CIA could be death.
The US Director of National Intelligence does not dispute, at all, the authenticity of the Wikileaks of DNC emails. They are real. (Russia did it! Not fair! War!)

The problem for empires, like the British and Ottoman empires, and now NATO, is that people live there and see the island as their home country, not as a strategic military base. This messy situation remains messy, which is probably the best-case scenario.
There is an urgent push by the neocon-controlled-Obama-regime to get Cyprus firmly under control before the Trump regime takes over and makes all those foreign diplomats come home on the first day. This involves cutting-out Greek interests. Greek Cypriots are about 80% of the population and see Cyprus as part of Greece, or culturally-Greek. Turkey wants Cyprus back for the reconstitution of the Ottoman empire, but the UK, which got it from the collapsing Ottoman Empire, insists on maintaining UK military bases there, which may never be questioned in any way. Henry Kissinger almost got everything under perfect control in 1974, when Turkey invaded Cyprus in two-steps. Not quite perfect though. The critical assassination of the beloved head-of-state failed. Things have been a mess ever since.
Henry Kissinger, and Victoria Nuland, plan to fix the "Cyprus Problem" forever on January 12.
The people of Cyprus, and their representatives, are not invited. They can get their referendum to complain after everything is finalized.

The NATO war preparation against Russia, ‘Operation Atlantic Resolve’, is in full swing. 2,000 US tanks will be sent in coming days from Germany to Eastern Europe, and 1,600 US tanks are deployed to storage facilities in the Netherlands. 5 million residents of Damascus, Syria are without drinking water, since their water supply was captured by US paid moderate rebels, and hugely poisoned with diesel fuel.
The UN says that poisoning the water for 5+ million civilians "might be a war crime".
This article infers that the UN is inclined to blame the Syrian government in Damascus for failing to keep their own water supply out of the hands of the moderate-foreign-mercenaries-exacting-revenge-for-Aleppo-liberation. Syrian military may have poisoned-own-water by crudely attacking said vengeful moderates with artillery or something.
The US House of Representatives Condemns the UN Security Council Resolution (toothlessly) demanding that Israel begins to comply with international law and stops stealing more Palestinian-owned land for Jewish-only real-estate-developments. (The whole debate has been moved far-far-away from actually complying with international law and all prior UN resolutions and giving back lands taken by military-genocide.)
