Genocide In Whose Name

 Sincere Humans,

Jewish Voice For Peace, Why Israel's War on Gaza is Textbook Genocide
From the very beginning, Israeli officials have made their genocidal intentions in Gaza clear. And in the three months since October 7, they’ve followed through on their promises, inflicting incomprehensible suffering on the over two million Palestinians trapped in Gaza...
..Both South Africa and the Center for Constitutional Rights are basing their cases on the Genocide Convention — the treaty that defines the crime of genocide under international law.
This definition has two requirements for determining that a state is committing a genocide:
The state must demonstrate the intent to destroy a group of people.
There must be physical acts committed which put this intent into action.

Four minutes of testimony to Israeli Genocide in Gaza:

Israel defends itself to UN against allegations of genocide against Palestinians
Israel insisted at the United Nations’ highest court Friday that its war in Gaza was a legitimate defense of its people and said that it was Hamas militants who were guilty of genocide.

Chris Hedges, Israel Cannot Be a Colonial Power and a Democracy
The scholar, Yeshayahu Leibowitz, who Isaiah Berlin called the conscience of Israel, warned that, “If Israel did not separate church and state, it would give rise to a corrupt rabbinate that would warp Judaism into a fascistic cult. Religious nationalism is to religion what National Socialism was to socialism,” warned Leibowitz, who died in 1994. He understood that the blind veneration of the military, especially after the 1967 war that captured the West Bank in East Jerusalem was dangerous and would lead to the ultimate destruction of democracy. “Our situation will deteriorate to that of a second Vietnam, to a war and constant escalation without prospect of ultimate resolution,” he wrote.
He foresaw that, “The Arabs would be the working people and the Jews, the administrators, inspectors, officials and police, mainly secret police. A state ruling a hostile population of 1.5 million to 2 million foreigners would necessarily become a secret police state. With all that implies for education, free speech and democratic institutions. The corruption characteristic of every colonial regime would also prevail in the state of Israel. The administration would have to suppress Arab insurgency on the one hand and acquire Arab Quislings on the other. There is also good reason to fear that the Israeli Defense Force, which has been until now, a people’s army would, as a result of being transformed into an army of occupation to generate and its commanders who will have become military governors, will resemble their colleagues in other nations.”

‘Terrifying’ number of injuries since start of Gaza war: Israeli media  (Only Jewish injuries and deaths count. This might be 5% of IDF injuries and murders of Palestinians.)
According to the Israeli defense ministry, over 6,000 members of the security forces have been wounded over the past three months
Over 6,000 members of the Israeli security establishment – including the army and the police – have been injured since the start of the war between Israel and the resistance in Gaza and Lebanon, the Jerusalem Post reported on 11 January, citing defense ministry figures.
“The numbers coming out are terrifying,” the Israeli outlet wrote.  Out of the 6,000 who have been wounded, more than 2,000 are permanently disabled
[none of them small children], the report highlights.
“Nothing prepared the medical establishment for the onslaught of injuries resulting from the war over the last three months.”

Houthi spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree released a videotaped address saying "The American and British enemy bears full responsibility for its criminal aggression against our Yemeni people, and it will not go unanswered and unpunished." Houthi sources have tallied over 70 strikes across five regions of Yemen, indicating that at least five people died in the attacks. The Pentagon indicated over 100 missiles of a variety of types were used.
The US Air Force's Mideast command said in a statement that a combination of jets, destroyers, and a submarine were used, hitting Houthi "command-and-control nodes, munitions depots, launching systems, production facilities and air defense radar systems" in the operation which followed repeat Houthi attacks on Red Sea vessels. "I will not hesitate to direct further measures to protect our people and the free flow of international commerce as necessary," President Biden had said in a written statement.

But what is the "signal"? Still no 2024 images of "Lloyd Austin".  Lowry: AWOL Defense Secretary sends signal
In an age when it’s nearly impossible to go off the grid, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin managed it. He failed to notify the White House and other key players that he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. This, needless to say, is not an incidental detail about his life — like, say, that he routinely does his grocery shopping on Saturday afternoons, or is taking the Kansas City Chiefs and giving the points this weekend.
If the principal deputy assistant secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity went missing, presumably only her personal assistant would notice, and the country would be better for it.
The secretary of defense, in contrast, is a rather consequential position in the U.S. government.

Surplus Energy Economics ,  At the end of the last delusion , Dr. Tim Morgan
One discovery really can change everything. What we are now discovering is that the economy – the system which supplies material products and services to society – has stopped growing, and has started to contract.
What this discovery means is that everything affected by economic conditions – including finance, politics, and the balance of forces within society – is going to change in ways that are only now starting to become apparent.
This is isn’t a difficult discovery or, even remotely, a new one. It has been known since at least as far back as 1972, when the authors of The Limits to Growth gave us a remarkably prescient picture of how events would pan out.
Far from being a hard concept to grasp, the reality is the simple impossibility of infinite economic expansion on a finite planet. That energy is at the core of everything material – which of necessity includes the economy – is day-one knowledge for every student of biology, chemistry or physics.
What falsified the gloomy predictions of Thomas Malthus was the omission of energy from his calculus. He didn’t, and arguably couldn’t, have foreseen how the harnessing of energy from coal, oil and natural gas was going to transform everything, including the production of food.
We cannot conclude, as an absolute certainty, that the fading out of the fossil fuel impetus is going to compress society back to a pre-industrial scale and simplicity.
But we are entitled to conclude that the economy will contract unless and until a successor form of energy is discovered. That successor energy must match or exceed the energy density of fossil fuels. Neither renewables nor – in our current state of knowledge – nuclear power can deliver on that requirement.....The facts of the economy are that we use energy to extract raw materials and convert them into products and services. This, like so much else, is a duality. Just as energy is used to convert materials into products, so energy itself is converted from a dense to a diffuse form...
..Time is being called on the dissipative-landfill model, and this call is coming from two directions. It is surely clear beyond dispute that we are testing, and probably over-taxing, the absorption tolerances of the natural environment. Meanwhile, our past exploitation of the easiest, lowest-cost sources of fossil fuel energy has put us onto a decline path, where each new source of oil, gas or coal has a lesser ex-cost value than the one that it replaces...
..SEEDS – the Surplus Energy Economics Data System – interprets and projects the economy on the basis of this duality. It reveals that numerous economic problems are traceable to imbalances in the relationship between the “two economies” of the material and the monetary.
The linkage between the two is hierarchical. At least in theory, the “real” economy could exist without its financial counterpart. It is at least possible for us to operate the material economy on the basis of sharing, barter or centralised allocation.
But the “financial” economy cannot exist without its material corollary. Having no intrinsic worth, money commands value only as an exercisable “claim” on the material products and services for which it can be exchanged...
..The financial economy, in its stock function of assets and liabilities, is based on a set of assumptions which are – in most cases inadvertently – false. The idea that the economy is an infinitely-expanding system powered by money is a fallacy. The economy is, in reality, an energy system, limited by the finality of resource value and the finality of environmental tolerance.
This, ultimately, is why we’ve been using fakery – perhaps innocent, perhaps intentional – to keep the financial system from toppling over. We tried to counter the deceleration (“secular stagnation”) of the 1990s by ramping up the supply of credit to the system. When this led, not to the nirvana of accelerating material growth, but to the crisis of 2008-09, we opted to turbocharge the credit flow with monetary gimmickry.
The result has been the simultaneous creation of an “everything bubble” in asset prices (which is destined to burst) and a liabilities mountain (which must collapse because it cannot possibly be honoured).

Charles Hugh Smith ,  The Chinese Connection: Here's Why Inflation Won't Fall to 2% and Stay There Indefinitely
Where is the global deflator expansive enough to replace China's one-off deflation of global inflationary forces? There isn't one.
In broad brush, central banks got away with the illusion of permanently low inflation even as they pumped trillions in new currency into the global economy for one reason: China. It is useful to think of China in the early-to-mid 1990s as a system of vast, interconnected, untapped pools of:
1. Cheap labor just awaiting exploitation by global corporations, local entrepreneurs and state entities
2. Ambition, drive and long-frustrated desires for improved opportunities for individual/family betterment
3. Need for capital/credit to build a modern economy and infrastructure
4. Potential for national issuance of currency and credit on an unimaginably large scale
All four pools were tapped at ever larger scales over the past 30 years, enabling China to deflate the cost of goods globally as "the workshop of the world."

John Ward, The Slog, presents the view from 2026 (or so) , Analogies and Outcomes: At the End of the Neoliberal Road

Gambia is further down the road to impoverished perdition…and this why I contend that Brits in particular and the EU in general would do well to use my adopted country as a yardstick for what the coming Apocalypse might entail.
Ultimately, neoliberal capitalism is a cul de sac economic system doomed to eat itself. It gives more and more ridiculous wealth to the tiny percentage of winners, but has no solution to the bust that inevitably follows the mortal combat [between rising interest rates and the level of lax household borrowing to maintain the feverish repeat consumption level] required to keep the ideology solvent.

Jacques Baud ,  The Russian Art of War: How the West Led Ukraine to Defeat
The problem with the vast majority of our so-called military experts is their inability to understand the Russian approach to war. It is the result of an approach we have already seen in waves of terrorist attacks—the adversary is so stupidly demonized that we refrain from understanding his way of thinking. As a result, we are unable to develop strategies, articulate our forces, or even equip them for the realities of war...
..The way Russians understand conflict is holistic. In other words, they see the processes that develop and lead to the situation at any given moment. This explains why Vladimir Putin’s speeches invariably include a return to history. In the West, we tend to focus on X moment and try to see how it might evolve. We want an immediate response to the situation we see today. The idea that “from the understanding of how the crisis arose comes the way to resolve it” is totally foreign to the West...
..The reason the Russians are better than the West in Ukraine is that they see the conflict as a process; whereas we see it as a series of separate actions. The Russians see events as a film. We see them as photographs. They see the forest, while we focus on the trees. That is why we place the start of the conflict on February 24, 2022, or the start of the Palestinian conflict on October 7, 2023. We ignore the contexts that bother us and wage conflicts we do not understand. That is why we lose our wars…

Chinese Scientists Reveal Experiments With Virus 100% Fatal To Mice
Scientists in China, experimenting with a coronavirus closely related to the virus that causes COVID-19, found that it had a 100 percent kill rate in a small mouse study, according to the researchers’ announcement on Jan. 4.
The scientists, including a doctor trained by the Chinese military, cloned a pangolin coronavirus and infected modified mice to “assess its pathogenicity,” they said in a preprint paper published on bioRxiv.
Of the four mice infected with the virus, all began to lose weight five days post-infection. Shortly thereafter, they exhibited symptoms including sluggishness and white eyes.
The four mice died within eight days of inoculation. Researchers described the results as “surprising.”
Researchers then infected eight additional mice, euthanized them, and selected organs from four to analyze. High levels of viral RNA were found in various organs, including the brain, lungs, and eyes. While the viral load in the lungs decreased by the sixth day, it increased in the brain.
“This finding suggested that severe brain infection during the later stages of infection may be the key cause of death in these mice,” the scientists said.
The experiments were on a mutant strain of the pangolin virus, known as GX_P2V(short_3UTR). The results suggest a risk for the virus to “spill over into humans.”

Greg Hunter interviews Meryl Nass MD , Disaster If WHO Gets Total Medical Control – Dr. Meryl Nass
Dr. Meryl Nass is an expert on vaccines.  She has testified to Congress many times.  Dr. Nass warned about the dangers of the CV19 vax.  Massive amounts of deaths and disabilities have been documented around the world caused by what many doctors say are simply bioweapon injections.  Early on, Dr. Nass was a proponent of treating Covid with Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine with outstanding results for her patients.  For this, her medical license was suspended in the State of Maine two years ago.  This did not stop Dr. Nass from fighting to get the word out about the evil being caused by the CV19 shots.  Just when you think it’s over, and we can all get back to normal, Dr. Nass warns of a more evil global plan to take control of your healthcare (and life) in the next pandemic.  The UN and the WHO are wanting to do this by May 2024.  Dr. Nass explains, “The WHO is an agency under the UN.  One document, that has never existed before, is called a ‘Pandemic Treaty,’ and they are drafting it now.  The other is an ordinary document called ‘International Health Regulations.’. . . . What has happened is they want to use this document and amend it massively.  They want to completely change what the document is about and have it become orders that all the nations of the world will have to obey.  The person giving the orders is the Director General of the WHO.  This director can declare a pandemic under any circumstances he likes. . . . It gives the Director General of the WHO enormous power to dictate healthcare to anyone around the world. . . .

Analysis Demonstrates RSV Will Easily Mutate to Escape Monoclonal Antibodies
As a clinician, it makes more sense to me to reserve monoclonal antibodies for acute treatment in high-risk cases where mechanical ventilation and death are potential consequences such as children with severe lung disease at baseline. With widespread use of monoclonal antibodies on the first day of life, it is very likely RSV resistance will emerge and babies will have been unnecessarily injected with a novel product having no assurances on long-term safety. All the more reason to curtail this new, mass indiscriminate program for newborns before the entire population is put at risk.

First Day In Genocide Court

Gaza grandmother gunned down by Israeli sniper as child waved white flag

   M. K. BHADRAKUMAR , Blinken’s window dressing tour of Arab capitals
What truly distinguishes the present crisis is that the Arab world is profoundly concerned and feels outraged by the barbaric Israeli behaviour toward hapless Palestinians — ‘animals,’ as Israeli politicians have described them. The Arab psyche is convinced that an enduring final settlement of the Palestine problem cannot be postponed indefinitely. Something has fundamentally changed even for Saudi Arabia which had clandestine dealings with Israel for decades and was inching toward establishing formal relations with it.

South Africa's statement begins at 15:50 on the time mark. South Africa on Thursday presented its case against Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and asked the World Court to order Israel to stop its military operation.  Watch the replay. Israel responds on Friday.

CRACK IN A 75-YEAR-OLD WALL OF IMPUNITY: SOUTH AFRICA CHALLENGES ISRAELI GENOCIDE IN COURT
1948 was a year of tragic irony. That year saw the adoption of both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, together promising a world in which human rights would be protected by the rule of law. That same year, South Africa adopted apartheid and Israeli forces carried out the Nakba, the violent mass dispossession of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Both systems relied on western colonial support.
In short, the modern international human rights movement was born into a world of racialized colonial contradictions. Seventy-five years later, the world is watching in horror as Israel has continued the Nakba through its months-long, systematic ethnic purge of Gaza — again with the complicity of powerful western governments led by the United States.
The horrors of the original Nakba were met with decades of absolute impunity for Israel, feeding further violence. But this time, three decades since the overthrow of apartheid in South Africa, the post-apartheid “Rainbow Nation” is taking the lead in challenging Israel’s genocidal assault.
On December 29, South Africa became the first country to file an application to the UN’s high judicial arm, the International Court of Justice, instituting genocide proceedings against Israel for “acts threatened, adopted, condoned, taken, and being taken by the Government and military of the State of Israel against the Palestinian people.”

The initial hearing is not going to determine definitively whether Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The issue before the court this week is whether there is sufficient evidence to move the case forward, whether South Africa has legitimate standing to bring the case, whether the case is based on plausible treaty rights and obligations, and most importantly, whether to grant the provisional measures South Africa is seeking.
It is very likely that the Court will find that the legal questions of standing and legitimacy merit moving the case forward. That is particularly so because the Court does not have to rule definitively on those questions in order to move the case forward. They can decide later that, for some reason, South Africa does not have standing or that the ICJ doesn’t have jurisdiction over this case. By the time the case is fully adjudicated—a process that is likely to take months or years—the court could decide that the case for genocide is not conclusive.

Pepe Escobar ,  BRICS member South Africa takes Zionism to court
Whatever happens at The Hague could go way beyond a possible condemnation of Israeli for genocide. Both Pretoria and Tel Aviv are members of the ICJ – so the rulings are binding. The ICJ, in theory, carries more weight than the UN Security Council, where the US vetoes any hard facts that tarnish Israel’s carefully constructed self-image.
The only problem is that the ICJ does not have enforcement power...
..Reading the full South African application is a horrifying exercise. This is literally history in the making, right in front of us living in the young, tech-addicted, 21st century, and not a science fiction account of a genocide taking place in some distant universe...
..Every grain of sand from the Negev to Arabia knows that the neocon psychos in charge of US foreign policy, including their pet, remote-controlled, senile occupant of the White House are not only complicit in the Israeli genocide but oppose any possibility of a ceasefire.
Incidentally, such complicity is also punishable by law, according to the Genocide Convention.
Hence, it is a given that Washington and Tel Aviv will go no-holds-barred to block a fair trial by the ICJ, using every means of pressure and threat available. That dovetails with the extremely limited power exercised by any international court to impose the rule of international law on the exceptionalist Washington–Tel Aviv combo...
..The Israeli Foreign Ministry has regimented its embassies to arm-twist host country diplomats and politicians to swiftly issue an "immediate and unequivocal statement along the following lines: To publicly and clearly state that your country rejects the outrageous, absurd, and baseless allegations made against Israel."

An international law expert explains why South Africa’s case at the ICJ is so important
“This is important in the history of the Palestinian cause, since we haven’t had an opportunity to get a binding international decision on any of the important questions that we have been dealing with, including for example, the issue of the Palestinian refugees, the [Israeli] occupation, etc,” Dr. Nuseibah continued.
The last time the ICJ made a decision in relation to Palestine was a 2004 advisory opinion that found Israel’s separation wall, which at that stage was still early on in its construction, violated international law and should be torn down.
However, because that decision was a non-binding advisory opinion, Israel was not obligated to stop construction or take down the wall. Instead, Israel continued constructing the wall, which today spans across hundreds of kilometers, cutting off Palestinians from their land and swallowing up swaths of Palestinian territory.

Jonathan Cook ,  War on Gaza: The West will stand in the dock alongside Israel at the genocide court
According to a cable from the Israeli foreign ministry, leaked to the Axios website, Israel hopes that, given the difficulties of making a legal case in defence of its actions, diplomatic and political pressure on the court’s justices will win the day instead.

The war within Israel's war cabinet
The Israeli body politic is beset with political and security differences exacerbated by the deadly costs of their Gaza war. Now they're fighting over whether to investigate their string of failures - before or after launching another war with Lebanon.
Undermining those efforts every step of the way is a growing Israeli chorus advocating for the reoccupation of southern Lebanon up to the Litani border as the only solution that would ensure the security of Israeli settlements. Recently, Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman proposed the occupation of southern Lebanon, placing the area between the Litani River and the border with occupied Palestine under Israeli control with UN supervision.
Recognizing the potential catastrophic consequences of a full-scale confrontation with Hezbollah which has formidable - and unknown - offensive, armament, and intelligence capabilities at its disposal, the Israeli military is keen on addressing the root causes of its recent failures before engaging in any further battles.
For its part, Hezbollah conditions any discussion about military actions with Israel on the cessation of the genocidal war on Gaza. The Lebanese resistance emphasizes that side actions intended to bait Hezbollah into war, such as targeting Hamas leaders in Lebanon, are not part of the debate.

Blinken Admits Iran Behind 'Biggest Attack' Targeting US Ships, But There's No Plan
The Tuesday night attack saw up to 24 missiles and drones sent against international shipping lanes in the southern part of the Red Sea, and crucially directly against a US warship, as we detailed previously. The Pentagon said that three destroyers that are part of Operation Prosperity Guardian took part in shooting down the incoming barrage.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has in fresh comments charged that ultimately Iran was behind this "biggest attack" by the Yemen-based Houthi rebels. He warned "there will be consequences" if the aggression continues. "We had the biggest attack just yesterday, aided and abetted by Iran."

Jeffrey Epstein and his VIP associates had “prior knowledge” of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in the months before they happened, according to Prince Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Lady Victoria Hervey.
Hervey took to social media to break her silence regarding what she knows about Andrew’s relationship with the notorious child sex offender, claiming that Epstein’s contacts knew details about 9/11 before they happened, including the flight numbers of the commercial airplanes to be used in the attacks.
According to Hervey, Epstein and some of his close associates bought plane tickets “as souvenirs” of the horrifying and heartbreaking national tragedy.
“Regarding 9/11 which I’ll touch more on tomorrow, I have a story that connects it to Epstein,” she wrote on Instagram. “As in he knew it was going to happen and so did his close circle. They even bought plane tickets as souvenirs and never got on the planes. This is a whole new level of Sick.”

The Real Reason

 Reasonable People,

Following up on yesterday's post about "Schrodinger's Generals" is the video from late yesterday from Dima at Military Summary, who spends the first 5 minutes explaining the military necessity of creating fictions when officers are killed or wounded in a conflict zone where they officially ought not be. He says he has no authoritative/official source, but that it appears Austin was wounded in Ukraine. He wishes him well in any case, whether war wounds or prostate cancer, but presumes that Austin will not be seen much, at least for a while. He discusses General Zaluzhny's injuries related to Russian bombardment last May, and subsequent doctored videos of Zaluzhny.

There are no 2024 images of Lloyd Austin to be found online, just old stock photos.  Pentagon's Austin in good condition in hospital, release date uncertain

General Zaluzhny is apparently alive and upset, perhaps by injuries to other senior level military command personnel and/or a recent personal experience...
British military analyst Alexander Merkouris commented on the reaction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces command to the latest missile and drone strikes of the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian military infrastructure. He noted that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, reacted violently to these events, especially to the possible death of officers from his entourage.
According to Mercouris, at a speech in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Zaluzhny looked irritated and was in a state of complete hysteria, which, according to the expert, may indicate a nervous breakdown of the general.
"He was hysterical. He looked like a general and commander-in-chief who was about to have a nervous breakdown. And that perhaps tells us a lot about the situation at the front.", - said Mercouris.

At the 6:45 mark in this evening's Military Summary, a picture of Zaluzhny meeting with other military commanders in Kharkov is presented. Russia seems to be starting an offensive in the Kharkov region, to reduce Ukrainian strikes on Belgorod.  Russia Opens The Kharkov Front. Desperate Times In Ukraine. Military Summary 2024.01.10

Simplicius has a Ukraine war update focusing on the rapid development of military technology, particularly cheap, effective, small attack drones, which are already being fielded in semi-autonomous targeting mode, to resist blocking interference between the drone and a distant controller. The west just does not have swarms of small FPV attack drones, nor thousands of operators. Larger drones are useful for distant surveillance and targeting, but are expensive to lose when used for close attacks.

Schrodinger's Generals

 Outside The Box,

Red found this:  Russian Claim: Austin Dead In Ukraine
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was allegedly killed in Kyiv on January 3 when Russian cruise missiles peltered a command bunker where Austin and Lieutenant General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, commander in chief of the Ukrainian Army, met secretly to discuss mounting an asymmetrical offensive to “bring Vladimir Putin to his knees,” claims a Russian FSB source known for providing invaluable intelligence and the truth behind Putin’s Special Military Operation in Ukraine.
FSB agent Andrei Zakharov’s tale, however, directly contradicts an administration narrative about Austin clandestinely hospitalizing himself for an unknown ailment at Walter Reed Hospital...
..Austin had spent so much time in Kyiv he ought to have applied for Ukrainian citizenship, Zakharov joked, adding that the secretive and self-admittedly reclusive Austin had traveled to Ukraine from Poland eight times in 2023...
Vladimir Putin, Zakharov said, had bestowed upon Austin the title of “war criminal.” Putin, he added, delighted in Austin’s demise.
“We knew Austin was in Ukraine, and we discovered their rendezvous point. We also know the pig Zaluzhnyi, and he is killer of the women and the children, was to meet his lieutenants to learn them about new drone warfare. They were our intended targets. Austin was a bonus.”
Twenty cruise missiles, he said, destroyed surface buildings and collapsed a labyrinth of interconnecting chambers underground. A battle damage assessment revealed the strike had razed the structures and cratered what lay beneath. Only rubble remained.
“Nothing on this earth could survive what we sent. Yes, he is dead. He must be dead,” Zakharov said.
Real Raw News’ American sources in the White Hat community, while stopping short of dismissing Zakharov’s story as wishful thinking, said they want to see irrefutable proof of Austin’s death before scratching his name off their own “most wanted” list. However, they’ve called the official narrative a blatant lie, for if Austin had gone to Walter Reed, their sources would have taken notice and informed General Smith’s office.
“We don’t know if that Russian story is baloney or not. Our sources at Reed are unimpeachable and they say he was never there. And as far as your other question, Mike, we don’t have him. If I learn more and can share, I’ll let you know,” a source in the general’s office said.

TIMELINE: When key figures found out about Lloyd Austin's hospitalization , The Pentagon says Austin was transported to the hospital on New Year's Day.

Celia Farber ,  Explaining What Monarch Means In The Context of All We Are Enduring
A few have asked, here: What is Monarch programming? What do I mean exactly when I invoke it?
This is a vast field of study and analysis. I’ve quoted Serge Lang before, one of the patron saints of clarity (as ethics), who posed this question:
“How do you address a morass without becoming part of it?” (AIDS=Morass, Covid-19=Morass)
If I had to put it very simply I would say that “Monarch Programming” is an engineering program of human minds, designed to undetectably detonate meaning, structure, truth, clarity, consequence, resolution—basically what we once thought of as “Western Civilization.”
That feeling, so common of late, that the mind is being assaulted, and the “normal”responses are fleeing into the sub-conscious/repressed, where shame grows.
What is worse, or more degrading, than being told (repeatedly) that what is clearly happening is clearly not happening?

Caitlin Johnstone ,  Westerners Have An Absolutely Psychotic View Of Airstrikes
In response to multiple complaints from a retired Humber College professor about the wildly biased language that Canada’s state broadcaster has been using to describe Israel’s war on Gaza, Waugh acknowledged that the CBC routinely uses words like “murderous,” “vicious,” “brutal,” “massacre,” and “slaughter” to refer to the October 7 Hamas attack while using far less emotionally charged words like “intensive,” “unrelenting,” and “punishing” to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza over the last three months.
Waugh defended this extreme discrepancy by saying that Israel’s attacks in Gaza differ from the Hamas attack on Israelis in that Israel’s killings are done “remotely”.
“Different words are used because although both result in death and injury, the events they describe are very different,” Waugh wrote. “The raid saw Hamas gunmen stream through the border fence and attack Israelis directly with firearms, knives and explosives. Gunmen chased down festival goers, assaulted kibbutzniks then shot them, fought hand to hand, and threw grenades. The attack was brutal, often vicious, and certainly murderous.”
[or Israeli choppers, tanks and troops did...]
“Bombs dropped from thousands of feet and artillery shells lofted into Gaza from kilometers away result in death and destruction on a massive scale, but it is carried out remotely,” Waugh continued. “The deadly results are unseen by those who caused them and the source unseen by those [who] suffer and die.”  ...
..Military explosives rip human bodies apart. They burn people alive. They trap them under rubble where they die excruciatingly slowly in one of the most horrifying ways imaginable. They leave people without limbs. They dismember and disfigure children for life...
..A UNICEF report released last month said that more than a thousand children had had one or both legs amputated since October 7 as a result of damage received by US-sponsored Israeli airstrikes, a number which would be significantly higher by now. We know that many such amputations have occurred without anaesthesia, because Israeli siege warfare has cut off Gaza’s healthcare system from the necessary supplies.

Israeli MK Comes Out in Support of South Africa’s Genocide Case Against Israel , Other Knesset members are calling for Ofer Cassif to be removed
MK Ofer Cassif, a member of the left-wing Jewish and Arab Hadash-Ta’al party, and around 200 other Israelis have signed a petition supporting South Africa’s 84-page filing that will be submitted to the ICJ later this week.
“The information that emerges from the lawsuit is both horrific and credible. Israel is indeed taking systematic and thorough steps to wipe out the population of Gaza; to starve, abuse, and displace it. It has implemented a policy of erasing options for livelihood, which is leading to genocide,” the petition reads, according to Haaretz.
Explaining his reasoning for signing the petition, Cassif wrote on X: “My constitutional duty is to Israeli society and all of its residents, not to a government and its coalition members who call for ethnic cleansing and even actual genocide. They are the ones that harm the country and its people; they are the ones who led South Africa to approach The Hague, not me and my cabinet members.”

Jordan’s King Abdullah said on Monday that Israel had created a whole generation of orphans with its “brutal” war in Gaza, where he said over 30,000 people, mostly women and children, had been killed or were missing as a result of the conflict, Reuters reports...
..“More children have died in Gaza than in all other conflicts around the world this past year. Of those who have survived, many have lost one or both parents, an entire generation of orphans,” he said. “How can indiscriminate aggression and shelling bring peace? How can they guarantee security, when they are built on hatred?” Abdullah said of Israel’s war against the Hamas group.

Moroccan group: Israel kills journalists to cover up its crimes in Gaza
Morocco’s Al-Adl Wal-Ihsane (Justice and Kindness) group said Israel’s goal in killing journalists is to “discourage the media from reporting the truth, and to cover up its crimes against civilians, children and women, and the failure of its war in the Gaza Strip.”
In a statement after Israel killed journalist Hamza Al-Dahdouh, the eldest son of Al Jazeera’s Wael Al-Dahdouh, and his colleague Mustafa Thuraya yesterday, the organisation said this is “a deliberate war crime through which Israel seeks to discourage journalists from reporting the truth.”
Hamza and Mustafa were killed in an Israeli bombing that targeted a car they were travelling in as they covered events unfolding in the besieged Gaza city of Khan Yunis. Some 109 journalists have now been killed in Gaza since the start of the genocide. In killing journalists, Al-Adl Wal-Ihsane said, Israel “aims to cover up [its] crimes against civilians, children and women, and its failure [in its war] in the Gaza Strip.”

Demands for Israeli Ambassador to UK’s Expulsion After ‘Clear Call for Genocide’
"The Israeli ambassador has gone on national British radio and incited genocide," said one columnist. "This is an illegal act under the 1948 Genocide Convention."
A member of British Parliament demanded the foreign secretary “take the strongest possible action against” Tzipi Hotovely, the Israeli ambassador to the U.K., after she appeared on a radio broadcast of LBC and told host Iain Dale in no uncertain terms that Israel’s military must target civilian infrastructure in Gaza—a war crime under the Geneva Conventions.
Hotovely told Dale that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have found that “every school, every mosque, every second house, has an access to tunnel,” referring to the tunnels used by Hamas—which were first built when Gaza was under Israeli control in 1980.
“That’s an argument for destroying the whole of Gaza, every single building,” Dale said, prompting Hotovely to ask, “Do you have another solution, how to destroy the underground tunnel city?”

NATO Weakness Exposed as US-Led Red Sea Coalition Flops - Italian Admiral
The West’s failure to put together a coalition to secure the Red Sea is a worrying sign for NATO and EU unity, Luigi Binelli-Mantelli, a retired Italian admiral and former chief of staff of the Italian Navy and Italy’s Defense Staff, has said.
“France and Italy won’t join the US-led coalition in the Red Sea. This will have no impact from an operational point of view, since navies are well trained to coordinate their actions even outside a definite chain of command, but politically it’s proof of our weak cohesion as NATO as well as EU partners,” the senior former naval officer said.
“We must cope with [the Red Sea crisis] because this is not simply aimed against Israel, it’s a direct challenge to all Western countries, testing our determination and cohesion to protect our economy and our common values and way of life,” Binelli-Mantelli suggested.
[Has this train already departed?]  The admiral encouraged the Western bloc to “revise and widen its role in the world’s stability and security,” and called on Brussels to “wake up from its ecumenic dream and think twice about its own solidity,” presumably referring to European nations’ efforts to create joint military forces based in EU structures instead of relying solely on NATO and the US.

Opinion: Russia Must Be Asia's Peace Maker , Declan Hays
The two main lessons East Asia can glean from the Suez/Red Sea stand off is that Israel, which has recently bombed civilians in Beirut, Damascus and Tehran in addition to its countless other war crimes, has torn up the rules of war by making everyone and everything legitimate targets. When we further factor the asymmetries Houthi missiles and Iranian war ships cause in the Red Sea, there are very major implications both for NATO’s plans to contain China and for China’s plans to propel its own neomercantilist agenda forward.
As the navies of China and NATO both see it, there are a series a pivot points, layered strings of pearls, as the Yanks call them, stretching from Vladivostok in the north, down through Japan’s home islands, past South Korea, onwards to Okinawa, Yonaguni and Taiwan, Itbayat, Basco, Batanes, Luzon and the Philippines, westwards through Palawan, the Spratly and Paracel Islands, Vietnam, Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, Myanmar’s Coco Islands and Kyaukphyu port, Pakistan’s deep water Gwadar port and back to the Gulfs of Aden, Persia and Oman. One big tinderbox, from Siberia to Syria, being welded in by China’s Belt and Road Initiative to other tinder boxes, a pyromaniac’s paradise.
The importance of all those choke points and potential flashpoints is that both NATO and China are militarising them to degrees the world has never previously witnessed. NATO’s plan, much like Harry Truman’s earlier NCS 68 plan to contain the Soviet Union, is to corral China’s lines of advance into a relatively narrow waterway across the Taiwan Strait to Taiwan’s west and to then bombard China’s sea and land positions from forward bases on the front islets of Japan and the Philippines to Taiwan’s east.
China, meanwhile is colonising the South China Sea by turning Fiery Cross Reef, Gaven Reefs, Mischief Reef, Subi Reef and other once insignificant pinpricks like them into fully fledged military bases, complete with runways, fighter planes and missile batteries. When China’s DF-21D carrier killer missiles are added into the mix, China presents a real and present danger countries like India must factor into their own calculations, all the more so as China attempts to build land and sea bridges through Pakistan to Gwador thereby further threatening India to its north, and giving NATO and its fleet of Australian nuclear subs opportunities aplenty to stir the Asian pot further.
Although NATO’s Freedom of Navigation Operations (FONOPS) are designed to keep all these sea lines of communication (SLOCS) not only open but outside the grasp of China’s strategic strong points, there are plenty of chances for miscalculations, particularly in the South China Sea where China has been particularly aggressive, as evidenced by its repeated attacks on the Filipino marines on BRP Sierra Madre, which sits atop the 2nd Thomas Shoal.
Although China and its adversaries have a number of symmetric and asymmetric options available to them that range from Nordstream style no claim no blame attacks on hostile shipping to blowing up, in pre-emptive strikes, the Three Gorges Dam and thereby drowning the 1 billion or so Chinese unfortunates who live in the Lower Yanzgtse Valley, outside the lunatic asylums of Washington, most of those are not realistic choices.
That said, China’s reaction to the results of Taiwan’s pending 13 January elections might bring unwanted fireworks to bear on what already is a tense tinderbox. Should William Lai Ching-te, the incumbent vice president and the candidate of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), prevail over Hou Yu-ih from the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) Party, China will most likely spit the dummy again and launch massive military drills around the island or even grab Penghu Island as a sign it is serious about subjugating Taiwan.
Though China certainly carries a big stick, it doesn’t yet seem to grasp the notion that one should speak softly and only wave or use the stick as a last recourse. That is where the diplomats of Russia, which currently chairs the loose and untested BRIICS alliance, comes in.
As a long standing ally of Vietnam, China and India, and as one which understands the nuanced goals of all three of those countries, Russia can bring a lot to the table. Not only did Russia help broker peace in the 1965 2nd Kashmir war between Pakistan and India but Russia fully understands that India and Vietnam both want strategic autonomy, and that neither will ever submit to being a vassal of a revanchist China.
Taiwan currently leads the world in the crucial field of semiconductors and that is unlikely to change any time soon. And nor is Taiwan’s status as, for Taiwan to revert to the 1683-1895 era when it paid tribute to the Qing Dynasty, would mean empowering China to annex the entire region as Imperial Japan did in late 1941 from its Taiwanese/Formosan base. Because Japan, India, Vietnam and even the Philippines cannot accept that, China is thereby opening up the door for NATO’s carrier groups and sundry other legacy defence systems and that is far from being an optimal state of affairs if peace and trade, rather than war and all it entails are the goals.
There are two or even three ways out of this morass, only one of which is really acceptable. The first of these is to duke it out across the Taiwan Strait and every other strait or reef that is deemed important along the String of Pearls from Siberia to Somalia. The second way is for China to goose step ahead with its neomercantalism until the global economy revolves around it and it alone. The third and best way is for the BRIICS and allied countries to take the opportunity Russia’s chairmanship of that group offers and chart some way through all the straits and reefs they might sink or run aground on.
