More Greater And Lesser Evils

Judged on Performance,

"Repeatedly threatening global war and actually making aggressive regional war should clearly have marked Mme. Hillary Clinton as unfit for the Presidency of the United States. She is politically, intellectually and emotionally unable to deal realistically with an independent Russia and any other independent power, including China and Iran. Her monomania is a course of violent ‘regime changes’, unable to evaluate any of the catastrophes her policymaking has in fact already produced."
(Donald Trump promises a retreat from "globalist" policies, but how can that be delivered?) Thanks Eleni

"Veterans Today now has two confirmed sources that an American CIA agent was captured this week near Mount Simeon, outside Aleppo.  The American was part of a group commanding an operations room Jabat al Nusra, al Qaeda’s “franchise” in Syria.  The CIA has denied the claim, but it has already floated an offer through 3rd party sources to buy their man back... Highly placed sources told VT that Hezbollah seized four intelligence officers in a quality military operation near Khan Toman, the stronghold of Al Nusra, on May 12th. The officers are American, French, Turkish and Saudi. They were running the joint operations room with Al Nusra leading militants.
There is lots more update on Syrian war here as well, including strategic insights. Thanks Eleni

"General Joseph Votel, head of US Centcom, talked over cooperation with Kurdish and Arab militant groups while on a secretive trip to Syria on Friday. The talks were said to involve coordinating the US-led coalition and rebels plans on recapturing Raqqa from Islamic State." More thanks, Eleni.

Daesh in Raqqa is reported to have major infighting ahead of upcoming military assault by Syrian forces.

Let's revisit that Iranian story from a few days ago about the US, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia preparing a joint strike force to attack northern Syria:

Military Coup Brewing in Turkey?
"The divisions between the Turkish military and Erdogan have a long history, but today it is amplified by tumultuous events in and outside the country. For instance, the plans to create a buffer zone in Northern Syria and send the Turkish troops to Syria and Iraq are opposed by military brass. "

Saudi Arabia is paying contractors in IOUs. Bin Laden construction lays off 50,000 workers, and the Saudis may be forced to abandon their peg to the $US, which would drop oil prices. Money is fleeing Saudi Arabia by every exit now.

What "Peak Oil" actually looks like in our financialized world is laid out here. We are about to see a long "demand-destruction" cycle, by this analysis. (That means global depression.)

"Bomb blasts killed scores of people in the Syrian coastal cities of Jableh and Tartous on Monday, and wounded many others in the government-controlled territory that hostsRussian military bases, monitors and state media said. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks in the Mediterranean cites that have up to now escaped the worst of the conflict, saying it was targeting members of President Bashar al-Assad's Alawite minority." Thanks Eleni  (What does this tell us? ISIS showing capacity to slaughter civilians?)  http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-mideast-crisis-syria-latakia-idUKKCN0YE0ON?feedType=nl&feedName=uktopnewsearly&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=UK%20Lunch%20Break%202016-05-23&utm_term=UK%20Lunch%20Break
Greece will keep receiving a hot flow of human suffering from the wars being forced on North Africa and the Mideast. Turkey won't get what it  demands from the EU this year...     http://www.reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-turkey-visa-idUSKCN0YE0IP
Despite economic depression, Greece is forced to raise sales tax and other taxes, as Refugees fill camps and promises of financial help from EU/IMF remain elusive.

"Just-Call-Me-Dave" Cameron's closest political friend ("guru"), Steve Hilton, breaks ranks and says the UK must leave the EU or become ungovernable.
"One way of thinking about this referendum is that the choice is actually not between staying and leaving; but between leaving, and joining a new EU."
(That looks like a single speed bike. Good choice, but he should wear a helmet in that neighborhood.)
British corporations are losing their taste for EU membership this year. (Maybe they will pull out, let it collapse, and step into a restructuring project after the massive mess happens across the channel. Reasonable strategy.)

Austria elects nationalist, anti-immigration President (largely ceremonial position).

Charles Hugh Smith: "The global financial system is in the eye of an unprecedented hurricane. The inevitable consequence of borrowing from the future, the obsession with "growth" at any cost and financialization /monetary stimulus, a.k.a. the rich get richer thanks to central banks is systemic collapse."

Science supports chemtrails to geo-engineer against global warming, but don't worry, it's all theoretical. They don't exist. No word on cooling-performance of aluminum and barium oxides, compared to sulfur-dioxide.
"The study also showed that current traffic and industry induced aerosol emissions cool down the climate. However, their cooling effect on the global temperature is significantly smaller than the warming effect of current greenhouse gas emissions. Nevertheless, it would be possible to harness, for example, global airline traffic and ship traffic for the purposes of atmospheric temperature regulation by increasing the sulphuric concentrations of fuels."

Presidential hopeful and underdog for the Democratic nomination Bernie Sanders said one of the reasons he is staying in the race is because he does not want Americans "voting for the lesser of two evils."

If Bernie Sanders wins California, does Hillary Clinton have to withdraw her candidacy?
