The Midazolam mystery remains – despite attempts by many to explain the doubling of its use in care homes and NHS hospitals after March 2020. Dr Amy Proffitt, of the Association for Palliative Medicine, told the Daily Mail, “I absolutely do not believe that there have been cases of euthanasia in care homes related to Covid-19. I can understand why people are raising concerns, but when prescribed and used appropriately, midazolam will not hasten or prolong someone’s death – it will just give comfort.”
She added that a rise in the use of midazolam was to be expected because the drug would have been an “obvious choice” to give to those with problems breathing – a symptom of coronavirus.
I have no axe to grind about Ms Proffitt, but her explanation really doesn’t cut it. She doesn’t give us any evidence to support her lack of belief in the anomaly – nor does she accept any possibility that the drug might not have been “used appropriately”. Perhaps most unconvincing, however, is Amy’s contention that it was ‘an “obvious choice” to give to those with problems breathing – a symptom of coronavirus’. This flatly contradicts most medical opinion I’ve seen.
The authoritative RXlist site clearly states that ‘Intravenous midazolam has been associated with respiratory depression and respiratory arrest’. The British Journal of Pharmacology stresses that it ‘requires special precaution if used among the elderly, and can repress efforts to breathe’. Covid19 is, in its critical phase, essentially a condition involving respiratory difficulties. Given that reality, midazolam is hardly an “obvious choice”.
But Amy Proffitt is also choosing to ignore one simple fact: in the Gosport Hospital case, the drug was at the centre of a misuse and abuse scandal where the elderly were very clearly being quietly bumped off. Further, this has prompted several police forces to investigate 15,000 deaths involving Midazolam during 2020. The investigation is still active this year...
(This will potentially serve to create walled monopolies in the ranks of "compliant" megacorporations, and to beel societies for the good of the global environment, and those who have raced to completely destroyed it up until yesterday morning.)

As you can see, the Delta variant has a 0.1% case fatality rate (CFR) out of 31,132 Delta sequence infections confirmed by investigators. That is the same rate as the flu and is much lower than the CFR for the ancestral strain or any of the other variants. And as we know, the CFR is always higher than the infection fatality rate (IFR), because many of the mildest and asymptomatic infections go undocumented, while the confirmed cases tend to have a bias toward those who are more evidently symptomatic.
In other words, Delta is literally the flu with a CFR identical to it. This is exactly what every respiratory pandemic has done through history: morphed into more transmissible and less virulent form that forces the other mutations out since you get that one.

The details of last week's Royal Navy HMS Defender incident near Crimea in the Black Sea which saw "warning shots" fired by the Russian side continue to be shrouded in mystery and accusations and counter-accusations between the Kremlin and the West. On Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin inserted a new bombshell allegation regarding the dangerous June 23 encounter which could have sparked open conflict. During a live call-in news show, an annual tradition where the Russian leader fields ordinary citizens' direct questions, Putin said that a US reconnaissance aircraft was present during the incident. The FBI team was in fact expelled from Iceland by the Icelandic government, who viewed what the FBI was doing with Thordarson as wholly illegitimate.
Thordarson has now told Icelandic magazine Stundin that his allegations against Assange contained in the indictment are untrue, and that Assange had not solicited the hacking of bank or police details. This is hardly a shock, though Thordarson’s motives for coming clean now are obscure; he is plainly a deeply troubled and often malicious individual.

Edward Snowden has tweeted that Thordarson recanting will end the case against Julian Assange. Most certainly it should end it, but I fear it will not.
