Between Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan roughly $350 million was paid out to settle claims they hid payment flows related to the sexual assault of children which under various suspicious activity laws they were required to report and had a duty to interdict. This is factual, not speculative, and involved roughly two hundred identified victims who came forward. In addition roughly $150 million more was paid out from Epstein's Estate to the very same myriad former children, now adults who were apparently trafficked, and that includes only those who were brave enough to both come forward and decided to waive the right to sue -- they received on average somewhere around three quarters of a million dollars each.

The Hague Group announced on 16 July that 12 nations have agreed to “unprecedented measures" aimed at stopping the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, following an emergency summit in Bogota, Colombia.
According to the summit's final statement, the measures include implementing an arms embargo on weapons to Israel, preventing ships carrying weapons to Israel from docking at ports, reviewing public contracts that support the Israeli occupation of Palestine, fulfilling obligations to ensure accountability for the most serious crimes under international law, and backing prosecutions of Israeli war criminals at national and international levels.

In this context, the role of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is worrying. While proclaiming herself a champion of democratic values, she is contributing to the construction of a system in which truth, dissent, and public debate are suppressed or marginalized. There is no doubt that no one has ever pursued policies as totally anti-democratic, liberticidal, and homicidal as hers (as in the cases of Ukraine and Palestine)...

The Trump administration continues to escalate its economic war against its largest trade partner, Mexico. In recent weeks alone, Washington has imposed potentially fatal sanctions on two smallish Mexican banks and a brokerage house, which were quietly paused last week; it has implemented a 3.5% tax on the remittance payments US-based migrants, many of them Mexican, send home; and it has escalated its raids on migrants, many of them also Mexican. Now, to cap things off, Washington just imposed a 17% tariff on US imports of tomatoes, almost all of which come from Mexico...

At the same time, it has significantly increased its exports to the US of tomatoes, chiles, avocado, coffee, grapes, strawberries and water melon. But it’s the staple crops that matter most.
Salgado Uberto Salgado Nieto, a researcher at the Institute of Economic Research, points out that the the main consequence of NAFTA, almost certainly intended, “was the loss of food sovereignty, because the large producers [that were left standing] were not geared at producing basic grains for the Mexican diet such as corn and beans, but at producing avocados, berries and tropical fruits that are in high demand outside the country.”
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations estimates that the threshold at which a country becomes what it calls “food-vulnerable” is when as much as 25% of its food supply comes from abroad. According to a study published by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, or UNAM, by 2011 Mexico was sourcing 50% of the food it consumes, especially basic grains, from abroad, mostly from the US.
