Living Each Day,
I'm repeating myself again, again...
We are at an awkward suspended moment in historical time this year, with the world moving in directions of fundamental economic change, but acting like things are the same, just more expensive, because what else can you do?
The money we spend as "cash" promises to be worth its face value in itself, "for all debts public and private", so you can pay your taxes with it, which is an important function for any currency. It variably loses value over time, so it is a currency, not a store-of-value. It is the Red Queen trotting faster and faster to stay still. The debt service of the money, payable in the money, rises exponentially, as the real economy has long been stagnant, but financial redefinition of everything is making the real-world appear to fit the financial world.
Now that debt becomes more difficult to service, and many people in the world are in such real economic austerity as to feel like they have nothing to lose, and they have been robbed of their lives.
Those people may suddenly be joined by the gated-community high-earning crowd with lots of stock investments, but no stock certificates-of-ownership, because when part-2 of the 2008 crisis strikes, they will find themselves to be unsecured creditors of Cede & Company, while the big derivatives positions at Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and similar "investment banks" have super-seniority and take everything, "The Great Taking", as it is called. We are ill at ease with how AI can be used to turn refrigerators into crock pots in grocery stores, impair public utilities, and now steal $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance, much of which is well beyond reach, already. Starving North Koreans with nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles may have done it. https://x.com/AZ_Intel_/ status/2116021433264451858
We are seeing foreshadowing themes of world war, AI apocalypse, and loss of our life support systems, so our elite script-writers have lots of leeway to paint in broad strokes when the crash happens. And what choice will we have but to cooperate or starve to death?
Larry Fink's 2024 WEF speech avoids saying "replacing people with machines". BlackRock has profiting from fewer humans figured out BlackRock's Larry Fink on Social Challenges in Human-Machine Substitution
“I can argue in the developed countries the big winners are countries that have shrinking populations […] These countries will rapidly develop robotics and AI and technology […] The social problems that one will have in substituting humans for machines is going to be far easier in those countries that have declining populations” BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, World Economic Forum, April 2024 “We always used to think shrinking population is a cause for negative growth, but in my conversations with the leadership of these large, developed countries that have xenophobic immigration policies, they don’t allow anybody to come in, shrinking demographics — these countries will rapidly develop robotics and AI and technology.
“And if the promise, and it’s going to happen, if the promise of all of that transforms productivity, which most of us think it will, we’ll be able to elevate the standard of living of countries, the standard of living of individuals, even with shrinking populations.” ["Individuals", I believe, not "countries".] https://hackernoon.com/blackrocks-larry-fink-on-social-challenges-in-human-machine-substitution
I think Fabio Vighi should say "Selling Out the Worker". Corporate Hygiene and the Interregnum - Buying Out the Worker to Subsidise the Machine
Microsoft recently offered voluntary redundancy to 60,000 employees, around 27% of its global workforce. This was of course presented as an issue of flexibility and delivered as a courteous invitation to those who might already be contemplating a better future elsewhere. Yet, the vocabulary of corporate hygiene cannot hide a confession about its own insane objectives. The company effectively announced, in the blandest possible corporate language, that human labour is an adjustable liability in the face of a far more urgent object of devotion: compute.....The implosion of the work society may well drag on for decades, even centuries, as a hybrid “neo-techno-feudal capitalism” becomes normalised. Microsoft supplies the blueprint for this supposed “brighter future”: it cannibalises the social substance of work – jobs, wages, security, collective capacity – in order to build the automated future ahead of schedule. This is the material inverse of the techno-optimist delusional fantasy. Marc Andreesen’s manifesto assures us that technology ‘drives wages up, not down’ and that the ‘techno-capital machine’ of markets and innovation ‘spirals continuously upward’ for everyone. What Microsoft demonstrates is the opposite: technology is the instrument through which capital liquidates the wage relation, and the upward spiral is financed by the workers it expels...
..What I’ve described above is the template of today’s corporate hygiene. The evidence is quickly accumulating and can no longer be dismissed. Oracle’s workforce fell by 13% (approximately 21,000 employees) in fiscal year 2026, with the company citing AI adoption among the reasons for such reduction. Amazon announced 16,000 corporate cuts in January, while Meta shed roughly 8,000 employees (10% of its workforce), partly to offset heavy AI spending. Across the tech sector, 134,917 jobs were eliminated at 328 companies in 2026 as of late October, already surpassing the 122,606 recorded for all of 2025, averaging 459 losses per day. In short, the horse has already bolted, and well beyond Silicon Valley. Barclays is cutting 5,000 jobs, 60% in support functions including developers, as it presents AI as a source of new efficiency. American Express is eliminating 5% of its workforce (roughly 3,500 positions) while raising its profit forecast. Its Chief Financial Officer described the goal as becoming ‘leaner, more agile, and also to prepare for AI.’...
..Here, the rapid expansion of surveillance threatens to close the circle, since the very infrastructure that makes labour disposable is also making populations legible and sortable. Palantir – the company of self-appointed billionaire-philosopher-benefactor Alexander Karp – has developed ELITE for ICE, which populates a map with deportation targets, assembles dossiers, and assigns “confidence scores” to people’s addresses by drawing on Medicaid data and other sources. ICE’s data stored on Microsoft’s Azure infrastructure reportedly more than tripled as the agency used Azure AI tools to analyse video and translate text...
..Amazon is directly complicit in the surveillance state by hosting the Department of Homeland Security’s massive biometric databases on its AWS GovCloud servers. These include facial records, fingerprints, and iris scans for over 230 million people. Amazon also provides much of the cloud infrastructure behind Palantir’s tracking software. This gives the company a direct role in the processing of personal information, including mobile phone records and driving licence data.....The BIS now explicitly compares the logic of the massive shock in the making to that of recent speculative manias: capital cannot find profitable investment in labour, so it bets on automation. Apollo’s Chief Economist Torsten Slok spells out the implicit fragility of the bet: ‘Despite massive investments and widespread hype around artificial intelligence, the technology has delivered zero financial payoff to corporate America outside of tech.’...
..We should therefore be precise when invoking Antonio Gramsci’s interregnum. The old work society is dying (Microsoft’s 60,000 buyouts is among its latest death certificates) but we should not fool ourselves: what cannot be born yet is not the new “radical emancipation”, but the automated afterlife of the old order. Why? Ultimately, because its financing depends on liquidating the very demand (wage labour) that would make it profitable. It is for this reason that the interregnum is populated by a chain of morbid symptoms: bubbles, surveillance, manipulations, disavowals. In a recent essay, Alenka Župančič asks whether the interregnum might not be the regnum itself – whether there is anything ‘on the other side’ – and she is right that the injunction to ‘adapt to the new reality’ is an ideology that wants us to accept the worst of the old order under a new name...
..In its necessary alliance with technology, capital increasingly treats the wage as unaffordable – not because it cannot pay, but because capital serves only its headless self-expansion, indifferent to the social destruction it wreaks. This is why it is making the wage relation unworkable, while also enjoining us to embrace the delusional fantasy that the same technology will deliver us from the trouble it creates...
..The workers are not merely being replaced; they are being asked to fund the conditions of their own technological redundancy. That is a ransom note written in depreciation schedules. In the meantime, ICE uses Microsoft’s cloud to track deportable bodies, while Meta records its employees’ keystrokes to train the agents intended to replace them. The circuit closes: labour’s social substance is converted into financial capital, and part of that financial capital is converted into an architecture of mass control and manipulation. As I argued in a recent note, the same AI machinery that identifies and tracks populations also provides the automated apparatus for their elimination – deportation is just one modality among others.
The work society is being abandoned while also being replaced by something colder, financed by the same capital that once depended on the wage. That is our interregnum. Our only chance lies in the failure of this apparatus – not because failure automatically delivers “the new”, but because it keeps the new from being foreclosed in advance. https://fabiovighi.substack.com/p/corporate-hygiene-and-the-interregnum The Honest Sorcerer on the reduction of stuff that keeps humans alive and fed: The Persian Polycrisis Unfolds
..The price of rice, the most widely consumed staple food for over half of the world’s population, has risen over 70% in the past 12 months due to all of the factors above. Fertilizer. Diesel. Shipping. El Nino. None of these are one time events, but major shocks to the system with long lasting effects. Taken together these factors could easily precipitate the biggest destabilization of South and South-East Asia in living memory...
..According to oil market analyst and widely quoted expert in global commodities markets, Rory Johnston, in a recent interview on the Great Simplification, 2026 was the “best year” to start a war on Iran, with markets awash with oil and storage tanks both on land and on water filled to the brim. This massive surplus was used as a buffer against the biggest oil-shock the world has ever seen. Buffers, however, have an annoying tendency of running out when relied on for too long. As Amin H. Nasser, President & CEO of Saudi Aramco warned earlier: “[T]he system is already straining. And, with precious little else the world can turn to, the supply resilience cushion is scarily thin.”...
..The price of this war and the coming escalation (if it arrives) will be paid by the average citizen of the world. Higher food and energy prices, product shortages, lay-offs, bankruptcies. The civil unrest over the ever rising cost of living and the dismal state of government services in France and elsewhere in Europe is just the start. The real upheaval will affect poorer countries in the Global South. Africa. South-East Asia. The Persian polycrisis and the war for energy dominance, unleashed by the reckless foreign policy of the United States, will have an affect on us all. https://thehonestsorcerer.substack.com/p/the-persian-polycrisis-unfolds
Simplicius, US’s Swelling Hormuz Costs Drain Treasury Amid Promises of Renewed War
These massively ballooning costs are all to drive the political agenda that the US remains “in control” of Hormuz and is happily facilitating the transit of global energy. In reality, there continue to be various oddities associated with this narrative.
Reuters reports that Iran has been quietly shipping gas and jet fuel through Hormuz despite US’s “ironclad” control of the strait...
..The dance reveals that behind the scenes things are not as clear-cut as they’re made out to be. We’ve written repeatedly here of secret backroom deals which allow for various energy products to pass the strait despite claims of “blockades”.
The administration is forced to play a two-way game because Trump simultaneously needs the optics of a successful and “ironclad” blockade, while likewise desperately needing energy to keep flowing in order to bolster the ailing economy on the eve of the all-important midterms...
..Iran has been consolidating its position as regional hegemon that it has inherited by way of Trump’s historic military blunder. The administration is forced to play a two-way game because Trump simultaneously needs the optics of a successful and “ironclad” blockade, while likewise desperately needing energy to keep flowing in order to bolster the ailing economy on the eve of the all-important midterms...
On October 26th, representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey arrived in Tehran for major talks. These included Chief of the General Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir, Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Salman, and head of the Turkish intelligence agency (MIT) Ibrahim Kalin...
..One of the main worries for the US was undoubtedly the announcement that one of the focal points of the meeting emphasized that regional security should be handled endogenously by the region’s members themselves...
..As an obvious sharp blow to the US, it represents waning US influence in the eyes of the Mideast’s power players who had front-row seats to America’s failure of imposing its will on the Iranian giant in the Strait of Hormuz.....The meeting was notably hosted by Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsan Rezaei, who has emerged as a key figure in Iran in the eyes of the US...
..WaPo writes that the White House is courting Rezaei in the hopes that he will be the influential Iranian official with the power to end the conflict. JD Vance has taken to personally jockeying for a sit-down with the newly-risen Iranian mover-and-shaker...
..In a letter sent directly to Rezaei, Vance describes the ex-IRGC leader as the only man who can galvanize an agreement to halt Iran’s nuclear program—the same one Trump buried under thousands of tons of rock—and is said to be among the few people in constant contact with the enigmatic Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.....WaPo writes that the White House is courting Rezaei in the hopes that he will be the influential Iranian official with the power to end the conflict. JD Vance has taken to personally jockeying for a sit-down with the newly-risen Iranian mover-and-shaker...
..The WaPo piece notes that behind the urgency is the US’s belief that the window to peace “may be closing” amidst Israeli pushes for further military escalation. Reading between the lines tells the whole story: Vance’s desperate and unprecedented act of direct outreach to an ex-IRGC head for a personal meeting is meant to front-run what he knows to be an imminent Israeli provocation that will once more drag the US into a disastrous continuation of the war...
..The newly promised campaign of strikes will likely be the weakest and least effective of all. That’s because at this point, Trump’s boasts have become inversely proportional to his military’s capabilities, given the historic degradation that the conflict has unleashed on it... ..On top of which, Iran has reconstituted most of what was lost during the war and now has a much deeper understanding of US’s tactics. The US is also at a severe disadvantage compared to the first go-around, given that it has lost major amounts of regional assets in the form of bases, C2 nodes, radar installations, ISR drones, and troop morale. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/uss-swelling-hormuz-costs-drain-treasury
Andrew Korybko, The Post-War European Security Architecture Is Beginning To Take Shape
The grand strategic goal that Russia sought to advance through its large-scale military intervention in Ukraine was to reshape the European security architecture in order to resolve the NATO-Russian security dilemma that was brought about by the bloc’s continued eastward expansion over the decades. NATO rejected Russia’s security guarantee requests from late 2021, spring 2022’s peace talks with Ukraine were sabotaged, and Russia has been unable to achieve its maximalist goals in Ukraine by force.
This state of affairs contextualizes several recent developments that altogether set the stage for a series of US-mediated compromises between European NATO (E-NATO) and Russia aimed at building the most realistic and sustainable post-war security architecture for the continent. The overarching trend is the US’ formation of NATO 3.0, which refers to Trump 2.0’s vision of E-NATO containing Russia so that most American forces in Europe can then redeploy to the Homeland, Ibero-America, and the Asia-Pacific.
Provided that the latest trends remain on track, then the countries between Germany and Russia that are collectively known as the Intermarium will play the most significant role in this respect. The center of military-security gravity would then become the Baltic over which the Swedish-led Viking Bloc and Poland will exert joint military patronage over its eastern reaches (Finland and the Baltic States). The US and the E3 (Britain, France, and Germany) will “Lead From Behind” by optimizing the “military Schengen”.
In order for Russia to agree to the deployment of the E3’s peacekeepers to Ukraine, the US would have to commit in writing to not extend its Article 5 guarantees to them and NATO’s pre-1997 members would have to withdraw from those countries that joined after that year’s NATO-Russia Founding Act. The only exception might be a permanent US military base in Poland, which could be required for the Intermarium’s Polish anchor to agree to all of the compromises that’ll be touched upon in this piece.
Likewise, possibly apart from the US, France and the UK would also have to commit in writing not to extend their nuclear umbrellas over the bloc’s post-1997 members...
..Separately, the US could obtain stakes in the Nord Stream, Yamal, and Brotherhood pipelines in order for Russia to resume energy exports to the EU under the US’ supervision so that everyone has shared stakes in keeping the peace...
..The resource-centric strategic partnership that Russia and the US are actively negotiating per Western media reports would give Washington tangible, financial, and strategic stakes in preserving the post-war order amidst whatever provocations Ukraine, the UK, and/or whoever else might stage for ruining it. Through these means, the US could more freely “Pivot to Asia” for containing China, Russia could focus on addressing emerging threats in Central Asia, and the EU could rebuild its sanctions-tattered economy. https://korybko.substack.com/p/the-post-war-european-security-architecture Poland is a key country that nationalists and globalists are fighting to control. Simplicius, The Constitutional Crisis at the Heart of Poland’s Judicial “Coup”
The entire saga centers on the struggle between the Brussels-aligned Tusk government and President Nawrocki’s nationalist opposition party, which is hated by the globalists because it seeks to preserve Polish sovereignty in the face of the totalitarian EU system attempting to subvert it. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/the-constitutional-crisis-at-the
Andrew Korybko, Tusk’s Attempted Judicial Coup Is Similar To Zelensky’s Earlier Successful One
Unlike Zelensky, Tusk probably won’t manipulate political-legal processes in a bid to remain in power indefinitely regardless of however fall 2027’s next Sejm elections turn out, but what he’s attempting is much more insidious since it’s about subordinating Poland to the German-led EU. Former President and Deputy Chair of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote that “There’s a constitutional coup in Poland. The liberals of Tusk’s Brussels fosterling are oppressing the conservatives of PiS. Apparently, in part because of the latter’s hatred of Banderovites. And the method is exactly the same as in neo-Nazi Ukraine: annulling the powers of the Constitutional Tribunal. It’s long since disappeared there—a goateed bastard in a green tunic has purged the court. Well, what can you say?”
He made a good point by comparing Tusk to Zelensky since the former’s attempted judicial coup, which aims to shape the post-war European order by preventing a future conservative-led coalition from stopping the EU’s transforming into a German-dominated federation, is similar to Zelensky’s from 2020. As a reminder, Zelensky suspended the Constitutional Court’s chair during that year’s political crisis sparked by their ruling on anti-corruption reforms...
..The similarity between Zelensky’s earlier successful judicial coup and Tusk’s attempted one is that both leaders suspended the heads of their respective constitutional courts (technically the Constitutional Tribunal in Poland’s case) amidst a highly sensitive dispute in order to centralize their own power. In Poland’s case, the aforesaid dispute is over the prior conservative government allegedly stacking the Tribunal, which the ruling liberals blame for them tending to prioritize Polish law over EU law... What he’s attempting is much more insidious since it’s about subordinating Poland to the German-led EU. It’s for this reason why many patriotic Poles are accusing him of treason and demand that he be brought to justice for his attempted coup or at least resign in disgrace...
..The only realistic way out of Poland’s worst crisis since communism is to hold the early elections that reputable polling before Tusk’s attempted coup suggested would return the conservatives to power in a coalition with their newly breakaway faction and the two libertarian-nationalist parties. After what just happened, which united the aforesaid fractured right-wing forces and led to most Poles rallying around Nawrocki as led the resistance to the coup from the front, they’d probably achieve a landslide victory.
The geopolitical fate of the post-war European order will be decided by the resolution of this crisis. Either Tusk wins, he subjugates Poland to Germany, and then the EU completes its transformation into a German-dominated federation, or the rule of law wins, Poland leads the EU’s reform into a union of nation-states like Nawrocki declared late last year that he’s dedicated to doing, and Poland resumes its historical role as a regional power.
Conservative Polish MP-turned-MEP Dominik Tarczyński shared an infographic summarizing his viral video exposing the modus operandi of the larger coup that liberal Prime Minister Donald Tusk is attempting, which goes beyond his government’s armed takeover of the Constitutional Tribunal. According to Tarczyński, Tusk plans to oust conservative President Karol Nawrocki if successful, after which he’ll take over the Central Bank, introduce the euro, and transfer Poland’s gold to Germany.
About his last three points, Poland’s national currency remains strong, and the country now boasts the 10th largest gold reserves in the world. As of early this year, the Polish Central Bank has more gold than the European Central Bank, which is based in Frankfurt. Conservative grey cardinal Jarosław Kaczyński once accused Tusk of being a “German agent” due to how suspiciously close he’s been to Germany throughout his career. Tarczyński’s warning about Tusk’s plans should therefore be taken seriously. https://korybko.substack.com/p/tusks-judicial-coup-amounts-to-an

The big factor is the American addiction to cars, and one assumes also the scale of trucking needs given distances in the US, such as from ports to cities and towns, and other diesel needs, from agriculture to construction to warehouses. Trump has been saying that high oil prices are good for the US. https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2026/10/americans-hit-hardest-by-war-driven-oil-price-surge.html The geopolitical fate of the post-war European order will be decided by the resolution of this crisis. More from Korybko today: Tusk’s Judicial Coup Amounts To An Attempted German Takeover Of Poland By Proxy
His judicial coup aims to oust the conservative president so that he can’t veto Poland’s financial subordination to the EU upon the liberal-controlled Sejm’s introduction of the euro and consequent transfer of Poland’s gold to the European Central Bank as part of a German takeover of Poland by proxy. Remarkably cogent analysis: Six questions on the Israeli election, Abdalla Nasef
Meanwhile, most polling over the past three years has shown Israelis shifting significantly rightward. For example, a recent survey by the Jewish People Policy Institute found that one-third of Jewish Israelis report having shifted rightward since the attacks and the start of the Gaza war—compared to 14% who have shifted leftward. The same poll found a quarter of Israeli Jews identifying as “strongly right-wing,” compared to half that many before 2023. That said, a right-wing affiliation does not necessarily translate into votes for Netanyahu—there are multiple other right-wing parties on offer, both among the prime minister’s expected coalition and even among the anti-Netanyahu opposition. The results suggest that Netanyahu and his Likud party still command deep personal loyalty among a significant swath of the electorate. https://sfs.georgetown.edu/news/six-questions-on-the-israeli-election/

Poland is the new story: riot police at the Constitutional Tribunal, a president pushing through its doors after midnight, and each camp calling the other usurpers. The Gulf moved from "options" to a leaked date (Nov. 4) as at least four tankers were hit on Friday, the AI unwind reached the funding itself (OpenAI's raise cut, Anthropic "high junk", Meta's outlook negative), and silver fell below $50. Continuation: Russia-Ukraine's strike-and-truce routine, the Binance cleanup, and a Treasury borrowing at a record pace regardless. Poland's court fight turned physical. Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska suspended Tribunal president Bogdan Święczkowski, riot police surrounded the building, and President Nawrocki turned his plane around and pushed inside shortly before 1:00 AM (MyLordBebo). On October 27, Israelis took to the polls to elect the 26th Knesset, Israel’s 120-seat parliament, at a record-setting 77.7% turnout, the highest since 1999. It was Israel’s sixth national election since 2019 and the first since the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, and the following wars in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. The outgoing 25th Knesset was the first to serve a full term without dissolution since 1988.

Thousands rally in Israel urging ‘Jewish-Arab’ coalition to oust Netanyahu - In a counterprotest, Netanyahu supporters demand that Israel should not have a government with ‘terrorists’.
Israel’s three Arab-led parties won 19 seats, having made significant gains in Tuesday’s election. Nearly 840,000 people voted for Ra’am and the Joint List, a coalition of three Arab-led parties, a 64 percent increase from the last elections in 2022, according to the Central Election Committee.

The ouster of the Pentagon’s chief planner, Army Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, from the Joint Chiefs of Staff may have stemmed from differences between his position on the war with Iran and that of War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Earl Rasmussen, a retired US Army lieutenant colonel, tells Sputnik.
“[Sylvia] is a career person. He’s very well respected. He’s got the background. He’s got an understanding of the situation, probably including the geopolitical situation as well,” Rasmussen says.
The timing of Sylvia’s removal – as the US administration considers a new attack on Iran – may offer a clue to the reasons behind his dismissal. Rasmussen doubts that Sylvia was fired for allegedly leaking classified information to the news media, as Hegseth has accused him of doing, according to The New York Times. https://sputnikglobe.com/20261029/pentagon-chief-strategist-may-have-been-fired-for-opposing-new-iran-operation--us-military-veteran-1124976728.html

•Sunlight is one of the most important things for our health (e.g., avoiding it makes you 60% more likely to die), yet all we ever hear is how important it is to avoid it.•Energy efficient light bulbs emit a narrow, blue-heavy spectrum that disrupts sleep and metabolism, while lacking the infrared our mitochondria depend upon.
•Decades of forgotten research (now being confirmed by modern studies) show unnatural light is a root cause of many inexplicable physical and behavioral illnesses.
