Please Pause Genocide

 Observing Proceedings,

It is difficult to encapsulate the news today, though the overview is that the human economic world is going through a reduction in availability of the resources upon which our life-support system depends (peak-oil, etc.). That reduction-in-availability is reflected as increased costs, shortages and economic dysfunction in this economy based upon perpetual growth. Massive-"borrowing" has "pulled future prosperity forward" to the present, at least on the books. Investments will quit-paying-out at some approaching point.        Faith in the financial economy will soon disappear, as the world faces the fact that it is all current-trade-flows, without the reserves-of-wealth that we had imagined to "own".
This is known in the halls of power. There is currently a power struggle over those flows of valuable resources and products, affecting pipelines, railroads, and shipping routes.   The producing countries don't want to pay so much rent to the centers of financial empire, and are growing bolder as the imperial armies prove ineffectual again and again.
Russia becomes the military-champion and China the economic-champion for the producing countries (BRICS+) who want to trade without a 50% skim by the western-financial-system. Current wars reflect that, and also reflect the reluctance to nuke things you need and will be unable to replace in the leaner-future.

Israel's Reputation Takes A Hit In World Court Genocide Case  [The starvation of the Israeli economy will increase and political change will be inescapable.]
Israel has suffered its first major setback in the International Court of Justice (ICJ, or also "World Court") genocide case brought against it by South Africa, and thus has also suffered a possible hit to its reputation on the global stage.
The Hague-based court has ordered Israel to take all measures capable to prevent acts of Genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, but it stopped short of ordering a ceasefire. The interim ruling will of course remain merely symbolic as the World Court has no power or mechanism whereby it can enforce the verdict. It asserts that South Africa's case has legal merit and can proceed...
..Current president of the ICJ Judge Joan Donahue said however that the "catastrophic situation" in Gaza could get much worse by the time the final verdict in the case gets delivered while explaining why the provisional directive is necessary.
Thus this ruling points to the likelihood that things won't go Israel's way in the end...
..The Friday directive comes ahead what's expected to be a future, final ruling - and it comes as international pressure grows on Israel to reach a ceasefire - which the Netanyahu government is reportedly seeking in offering its 2-month pause plan in hopes of gaining the release of all captives...

Pepe Escobar,  Forever Wars. And No Plan B  [much edited]
..If we combine all these variants – stalemate; BRICS; the Lone Emperor; de-dollarization; garden and jungle – in search of the most probable scenario ahead, it’s easy to see that the only “way out” for a cornered Empire is, what else, the default modus operandi: Forever Wars.
And that brings us to the current American aircraft carrier in West Asia
(aka "Israel"), totally out of control yet always supported by the Hegemon, aiming for a multi-front war against the whole Axis of Resistance: Palestine, Hezbollah, Syria, Iraqi militias, Ansarullah in Yemen, and Iran.
In a sense we’re back to the immediate post-9/11, when what the neocons really wanted was not Afghanistan, but the invasion of Iraq: not only to control the oil (which in the end they didn’t) but, in Michael Hudson’s analysis, “to essentially create America’s foreign legion in the form of ISIS and al-Qaeda in Iraq.” Now, “America has two armies that it’s using to fight in the Near East, the ISIS/al-Qaeda foreign legion (Arabic-speaking foreign legion) and the Israelis.”...
..What Putin, Xi and Raisi have been explaining to the Global South, explicitly or in quite subtle ways, is that we are right in the crux of a civilizational war.
Michael Hudson has done a lot to bring down such an epic struggle to practical terms. Are we heading towards what I described as techno-feudalism – which is the AI format of rent-seeking turbo-neoliberalism? Or are we heading to something similar to the origins of industrial capitalism?
Michael Hudson characterizes an auspicious horizon as “raising living standards instead of imposing IMF financial austerity on the dollar block”: devising a system that Big Finance, Big Bank, Big Pharma and what Ray McGovern memorably coined as the MICIMATT (military-industrial-congressional-intelligence-media-academia-think tank complex) cannot control.

How Gaza is impacting the Great Power standoff
While China-led multipolarity has accelerated the decline of the American era, the war in Gaza may end it altogether.
What is unfolding today in West Asia — the Gaza war and its regional expansion — cannot be viewed separately from the international transformations that have grown in momentum over the past few years. Today, the transition to multipolarity is the underlying factor shaping the decisions and policies of most countries, particularly those of the great powers...
..Crucially, the Pentagon's stated purpose of securing navigation in the Red Sea does not align with the actual threat presented, revealing ulterior motives behind US actions. The Yemenis have repeatedly confirmed that they only intend to inhibit the passage of Israeli-owned or destined vessels — and that all other ships are free to pass.
In short, the US/UK-led coalition is acting as a naval arm for Israeli military forces, seeking specifically to ensure unimpeded access for ships heading to Israeli ports via the Bab al-Mandab Strait. That's not a position many other states will get behind if they want to maintain freedom of transport for their own shipping vessels.
Ultimately, the American show of force in these waterways seeks to consolidate US naval dominance, which war-torn Yemen, West Asia's poorest country, has contested...
..The most staggering poll result of all,... has to be the one in December... in which 51 percent of young Americans believe a final solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is for Israel to end and be given to Hamas and the Palestinians.
..While Israel remains a direct US interest in West Asia, Washington's commitment to Tel Aviv's security has already become a growing burden and increasingly difficult to justify. As the region's Axis of Resistance expands its battle with Israel on new, multiple frontlines, the US will need to reallocate ever-expanding resources and focus on matching its international rivals in further-flung geographies.
Ukraine was a test run compared to this Gaza war and the immense, direct toll it is taking on US alliances, domestic politics, and the American image globally.

John Helmer , RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY TIES RED SEA BLOCKADE TO GAZA BLOCKADE, BACKS HOUTHIS IN MOSCOW MEETING
Bogdanov’s communiqué said “special attention was paid to the development of tragic events in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, as well as the aggravation of the situation in the Red Sea in this regard. In this context, the missile and bomb attacks on Yemen undertaken by the United States and Great Britain, which are capable of destabilizing the situation on a regional scale, were strongly condemned.”
This is the plainest signal to date of Russian backing for the southern front of the Arab war against Israel, and the link which the Houthis have made between the Israeli blockade of Gaza,  the genocide of the Palestinians, and the Red Sea blockade which the Houthis have imposed on vessels owned or directed by Israeli shipowners,  US naval fleet, and American-flagged and other vessels carrying military and civil cargoes to Israel or reload ammunition for future attacks on Yemen.
At the same time across Moscow, unusually large delegations of officials of the Russian Security Council, led by Nikolai Patrushev, and Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, special presidential representative and Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, have been meeting to discuss a detailed agenda which Patrushev’s communiqué calls a “wide range of Russian-Iranian security cooperation” and “the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.”
In an open statement for reporters, Ahmadian told Patrushev: “”America’s grandeur has shattered, and today, it cannot even rally its traditional allies. A country that considers itself a superpower is engaged in war against resistance groups and the people of the region.”
The display of Russian support for the Axis of Resistance  against Israel and the US is unprecedented.

Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) was aware of the flight of the Ilyushin-76 transport plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war, but did not block the work of air defense on its route, the head of the (Russian) State Duma’s Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov told the media while commenting on the plane's crash in the Belgorod Region.
"The Ukrainian side had been officially notified. Fifteen minutes before the plane entered the zone, they were given full information, which they received and confirmed its receipt by the Main Intelligence Directorate," Kartapolov said. He stressed that after that "there should have followed the command 'Air, stop' for a certain sector. It was not issued. Instead, a command to open fire was given and the airplane with our crew and their soldiers was shot down," Kartapolov added.

Gilbert Doctorow interview and transcript on Ukrainian shoot-down or Russian plane carrying Ukrainian POWs for prisoner-exchange.
I think this plane crash is extremely important because of what it says about the government in in Kiev, who is running it, and for what purpose. This devastating event has parallels with the MH-17. It has parallels with the bombing of a Russian detention center which kept Ukrainian prisoners of war and where again dozens if not a 100 or more of the prisoners of war were killed as a result of the Kiev government action...
..The original intent was to pursue what they have done otherwise on the field of battle. The Ukrainian forces have shot in the back their own soldiers, whom they thought might be going over to the enemy. What we have here… We forget that Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union for 70 years and the morals of Mr. Stalin were applied in Ukraine and seemed to have remained there despite the fall of the Soviet Union. By that I mean in World War II it was the practice of the Soviet Army to consider prisoners of war as deserters. They may have been injured, they may have been carried off the field to hospitals, but once they were interned in Germany or in Germany’s allies, they were considered as traitors. When they came home they faced severe conditions, if not execution. This is the very type of approach to human rights that Kiev is applying to its own citizens: A very Stalinist method and that is at sharp variance with the bunny rabbit quality of Kiev that Western news media have projected from the start of the conflict...
..The supposition is in any case that very powerful ground to air missiles were used and that such weapons are approved only of the highest levels of the Ukrainian military. Therefore it is improbable this was a communications accident...

Pentagon Refused to Send A-10 Warthogs to Ukraine Amid Fears They’d ‘Fall to the Ground in Flames’

Governor Greg Abbot’s letter to the Biden Administration declaring them in violation of the Constitution for stopping Texas from securing the border is a major escalation. The States have become ‘uncomfortable’ and are beginning to bare their canines...
..That’s where Greg Abbot found himself with the Biden Administration’s open border policy whose obvious purpose was to invite the world to tilt the 2024 election in the Democrats’ favor… and by Democrats’ I mean Davos, whose agenda Biden et.al. are clearly advancing...
..Abbot’s Attorney General Ken Paxton backed him up and, as of [yesterday], 25 other States have openly expressed support for Texas’ stand against the lawlessness of “Biden’s” executive order...
..“Biden” is giving Texas an ultimatum to comply. The Democrats are demanding Biden call up the Texas National Guard. The entire thing has a wholly manufactured feel to it, but it is also something that had to happen. The States had to stand up to this.
And as I’ve talked about at length, the goal here is splitting the US up because a divided US, falling apart politically at this point in history, is exactly what our enemies want. The eventual goal is undermining the validity of the US debt markets and Washington D.C.’s ability to pay its bills.
There is no Great Reset with a fully functional United States. This is why Abbot’s move is so very important...
..The question I have now is what’s the over/under on “Biden” declaring Texas in a state of insurrection against the Union in order to deny it, as a State, its vote this fall? If Texas refuses to ‘turn blue’ then the next move would be to maneuver its governor into full opposition to DC. The question I have here is who is in control of the escalation framework here? Texas or the FedGov?

Cultural Replacement: Why The Immigration Crisis Is Being Deliberately Engineered
Elements of our own government are deliberately encouraging the acceleration of illegal immigration across the southern border and they are actively sabotaging any attempts to stop the madness. There are two questions we need to ask: Why are they doing this? And, what can be done to stop them?’...
..We’ve all heard of the Cloward-Piven Strategy by now, and it’s not all that difficult to understand – Create social destabilization by using migrants as a weapon. But there’s a lot more going on here than meets the eye. Cloward-Piven is almost too simplistic an explanation; it doesn’t really define the bigger picture. There are a few ways that this strategy could open the door to authoritarianism in the US. Let's examine these scenarios to better comprehend why.
..In 1968 the US Department of Defense at the request of the government drafted a civil disturbance plan called ‘Operation Garden Plot’ which outlined what was essentially a martial law response to large scale social breakdown. One of the main factors listed in the plan as a trigger for martial law was the uncontrolled mass migration of minorities into the US, as well as riots by minorities in light of economic uncertainty.
Garden Plot has provisions designed to install a long lasting domestic military presence in the US if deemed necessary, and was even tied to programs like REX 84 which planned out the installation of “FEMA camps” or detention facilities meant to hold large numbers refugees during a mass migration crisis. These programs were accidentally exposed during the Iran/Contra hearings of 1987 and were kept secret from a majority of representatives in Congress.
In other words, political elites designed a set of operations to swiftly impose martial law if a migrant disaster occurred. But were these measures meant to solve the crisis? Or were they meant to use the crisis as an excuse to put boots on the ground in the US and permanently end whatever constitutional protections we have left? That is to say, it may very well be the plan of the establishment to keep the borders open until illegals overwhelm the system and the public is willing to accept martial law.
[It is suggested by some that inducting migrants into the US military to act against American citizens would manage the "problem" that 70% of American soldiers would balk at this illegal action.]

“We eat a small amount of rice each day, so when I learned that flour aid was available, I walked for 13 kilometres before the Israeli army opened their machine gunfire. We were hit by shells fired, resulting in several casualties. I managed to survive, without receiving any flour.”

"If the US today stops its backing -- logistical and weapons, political and media support -- of the genocidal war launched by Israel, then I can assure you that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu will not survive for 10 minutes," Iran's top diplomat told ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz during.

Hamas Says ‘Faults Happened’ in 7 October Attacks in First Account Since Start of War on Gaza.
Regarding the events of 7 October, the report said that Hamas targeted Israeli military sites and sought to “arrest the enemy’s soldiers” in efforts to pressure Israeli authorities to release thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
“Avoiding harm to civilians, especially children, women and elderly people is a religious and moral commitment by all the Al-Qassam Brigades’ fighters,” it said, referring to the military wing of Hamas.
“We reiterate that the Palestinian resistance was fully disciplined and committed to the Islamic values during the operation and that the Palestinian fighters only targeted the occupation soldiers and those who carried weapons against our people.”
The report added that Hamas fighters were keen to avoid civilian harm “despite the fact the resistance does not possess precise weapons”.
Among those killed during the attacks were over 30 children and more than 100 elderly, according to official Israeli statistics, as well as 60 foreign workers.
“If there was any case of targeting civilians, it happened accidentally and in the course of the confrontation with the occupation forces.”
“Maybe some faults happened during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood’s implementation due to the rapid collapse of the Israeli security and military system, and the chaos caused along the border areas with Gaza.”...
..Israeli civilians were killed by an Israeli military helicopter on 7 October, citing reports from Israeli media outlets Haaretz and Yedioth Ahronoth.
“The two reports said the Hamas fighters reached the area of the festival without any prior knowledge of the festival, where the Israeli helicopter opened fire on both the Hamas fighters and the participants in the festival,” it said.
It cited the “Hannibal Directive”, an Israeli rule of engagement that reportedly stipulates that Israelis being taken hostage should be avoided at any cost, even if it it results in the deaths of its own people...
..“Hamas does not wage a struggle against the Jews because they are Jewish but wages a struggle against the Zionists who occupy Palestine,” it said.
“Yet, it is the Zionists who constantly identify Judaism and the Jews with their own colonial project and illegal entity.”
It added that Palestinians stood against injustice against civilians, including “what the Jews were exposed to by Nazi Germany”.
“Here, we remind that the Jewish problem in essence was a European problem, while the Arab and Islamic environment was – across history – a safe haven to the Jewish people and to other peoples of other beliefs and ethnicities,” it said.
“We reject the exploitation of the Jewish suffering in Europe to justify the oppression against our people in Palestine.”

Last Minute Changes

 Impromptu,

Charles Hugh Smith ,  The Template of National/Imperial Decay and Collapse
The point is the good times of seemingly endless expansion are never permanent yet human regimes become accustomed to managing only expansion.
Climate change is cyclical in nature, and these cycles can be exacerbated by disturbances such as volcanic activity. As covered by several of the books listed below, it is not entirely chance that the tumultuous 1600s in Europe coincided with The Little Ice Age, which happened to occur during the Maunder Minimum, a solar cycle likely made worse by The 1600 AD Huaynaputina Eruption in Peru, one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the past 2,000 years.
The Taiping Rebellion in China (1850 to 1864) may overlap with the Gleissberg drought cycle and other solar cycles that are associated with drier, cooler weather.
The point is the good times of seemingly endless expansion are never permanent yet human regimes become accustomed to managing only expansion. Lacking the institutional structure and motivation to undertake risky, fundamental adaptations that require cooperation, shared sacrifices and the accelerated evolution of trial-and-error, the regimes decay and collapse, overwhelmed by their own sclerosis and hubris and the mutually-reinforcing storms of a polycrisis.

Paul Craig Roberts ,  Satan’s Agent: The World Economic Forum
The WEF is an anti-human cult devoted to the destruction of freedom and human life.  In my opinion, it would be wondrous if the next time the collection of stupid and evil beings assemble, Russia, China, or Iran would launch a missile attack that completely destroys the WEF.  They won’t because Russia, China, and Iran view the WEF as an ally in the destruction of the West. This is a mistake, because the Russian, Chinese, and Iranian populations are also fated to be culled. Judging by the effort of the World Health Organization, the WEF’s ally, to centralize in its hands the health protocols of the entire world and its forecast of a doomsday pandemic, the culling device will be a biowarfare pathogen released on the world.
No Western legislature is doing anything to shut down the illegal labs. As Russia knows where many of the illegal biowarfare laboratories are located, Russia should take them out with missile strikes.  Evil has to be confronted and overcome or evil will prevail.

Evil has already recruited the corporate and political leadership of the Western world.  How much more advantage shall we permit Evil before we are overcome?

Simplicius, Iranian Axis Grinds Down US' Will as Israel Suffers Stunning Setbacks   [Can the US act rationally if controlled by AIPAC? Asking for a friend.]
There are some very strange happenings in the Middle East which underscore the historic shifts grumbling just beneath the surface, ready to break through.
Firstly, to set the stage we turn to Israel, which appears to be concealing an operation that has gone off the rails, and is not yielding any of the expected results—and in fact has done little more than turn the world against them, creating a shockwave of anti-Israeli fervor that will steer sentiment for generations.
As we now know, Israel has withdrawn many of its brigades from the north, citing ‘rest and rotation’ when in reality it appears to be ‘reconstitution’, as the brigades took major attritional losses. Now in the wake of that, the latest bombshell reports state that resistance fighters have re-infiltrated the entire north...
..During the entire time, there have been increasingly urgent secret talks between the US and Israel, with the Biden administration pleading with Netanyahu to curb his assaults...
..Israel has continued to press into Khan Younis in the south. But yesterday they suffered what was unanimously called the biggest ‘tragedy’ of the entire conflict thus far. During one of the IDF’s routine mining operations, consisting of rigging explosives on civilian buildings, resistance fighters were able to trigger a detonation with dozens of IDF still inside the building...
..Al Jazeera artificially reconstructs the epic Al-Qassam operation that led to the death of 24-28 IOF soldiers near Al-Maghazi, 2 days ago. Netanyahu calls it ‘the most difficult day’...
..Israel obviously can’t pull out now to save face, so it almost leaves one with the impression they’re floundering around, secretly panicking internally as to what to do because they’ve reached the conclusion that ‘Hamas’ is an intractable shadow they cannot brute-force their way through...
..The UN and the world increasingly call for a two state solution, but Netanyahu has vocally rejected this as impossible. In fact, his Likudniks continue to call for outrageous relocations and forced ethnic cleansing of Palestinians; for instance, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen proposed dumping all Palestinians onto an artificial island...
..Now, at the worst possible time, Iran has decided to turn the screws on Israel, creating extremely unfavorable conditions by locking down the maritime chokepoints, as well as putting unprecedented pressure on Israel’s top ally of the US, militarily, all across the region.
Even as of this writing, a new US-flagged ship, the Maersk Detroit, was said to be attacked by the Houthis in the Red Sea, though US CENTCOM claims the three missiles were all repulsed. The US Navy has been relegated to a glorified escort, but since the al-Mandab strait has effectively become a warzone, it has nonetheless crippled commerce...
..Two days ago came a rumor that the US was considering talking its Kurdish allies in Syria into ‘working with Assad forces’ to combat ISIS.’  This immediately set off speculation that the US was getting ready to abandon Syria once and for all, and was looking for a way to securely fill the vacuum. Naturally, many scoffed at this, and refused to believe US would possibly withdraw from the region.  But then came today’s Charles Lister-penned bombshell for FP... The shockwaves the article sent are still doing their laps through the world. As usual, it cites unnamed sources in the DOD and White House:
While no definitive decision has been made to leave, four sources within the Defense and State departments said the White House is no longer invested in sustaining a mission that it perceives as unnecessary.
Active internal discussions are now underway to determine how and when a withdrawal may take place...
..Most shocking of all are new reports that US is in discussions to end its occupation of Iraq entirely:
Reuters, citing sources: Initial talks between America and the government in Baghdad about ending the presence of coalition forces in Iraq against the backdrop of developments that took place as a result of the war in Gaza
...
..The US ambassador to Iraq, Alina L. Romanowski is reported to have delivered a memo today to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry regarding ‘preliminary steps’ to begin the withdrawal of US and Coalition Forces from the country. This comes amid public calls by members of the Iraqi government for US forces to depart the country due to the war in Israel and continued attacks by Iranian-backed forces. The US claims these are long-planned talks and have nothing to do with the recent attacks, but that is clearly not the case... On January 10th, the office of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said they would soon begin the process “to end the presence of the international coalition forces in Iraq permanently.”
So just what in the world is going on, exactly? At this most critical of times, why is the US thinking of tucking tail and running from the region?
My take is this: in short, the US is being run out of town by Iran. Their bluff was called and US knows their puny strikes can do nothing to truly degrade Iran’s highly decentralized hybrid warfare systems and groups. Iran has risen to become a hegemon verging on a Great Power of the region. The US has a few obsolete fleets which cannot keep up blow for blow with Iran in exchanged rounds of ammo. Iran can saturate them forever with drones and cheap rockets which the US is spending millions per every fired shot to intercept. Furthermore, the US cannot produce its most important strike weapons in enough quantity to ever win a long endurance standoff..
.. The US is currently at a precipice where it can still somewhat save face by retreating early and pretending it never intended to commit in the first place. But if it goes on and overcommits, it stands to get militarily exposed. The world will see the US as utterly weak and beatable...  I believe US is in precisely this position. It sees itself as nearing the “point of no return”...
..Each day that passes and each new strike on US bases in Iraq and Syria brings the US closer and closer toward the brink...
..Russia will begin aerial patrols of the Golan Heights corridor...  This may be a tactic to block the US in with a one-two punch. Russian planes deter Israeli strikes, which helps Iran build strength and deliver arms to its militias in Syria; then those militias increase pressure by hammering US bases in the region. Seeing the writing on the wall, the US knows the situation is untenable and unsustainable...
..Of course there’s always the chance that US may end up totally doubling down, but at this point, its position has never been weaker. And the longer things go, the more economic damage is done to the West and its allies. Russia and China continue to have free passage through the straits, as well as cheap energy, while the West is taking all the hits...
..The longer it goes, the larger the political storms that will engulf Europe. The AfD in Germany, for instance, is already now calling for a DeXit or German exit to leave the EU...
..As a last note, circling back to Israel: if things are so dire, why is Israel still talking about potentially opening up a new front against Lebanon? One popular theory is that they want to use a new even larger war against Hezbollah to hide their failure in Gaza. How would that work if the war against Hezbollah could be an even bigger failure?
It’s hard to say for certain but one idea is simply that by doing so, they would hope to somehow draw in the US into a larger total war against Iran in order to ‘cut the head off the snake’, in their eyes...
..There’s a great new article written by Patrick Theros, ex-US ambassador to Qatar. He brings up some good points about how Biden appears to be caged in by the Israeli lobby, contrasting that with previous presidents who managed to show a little more dignity and gumption in standing up to Israel’s control over the US...
..He brings up the turning tide in the US, with the young population increasingly at odds with Israel; which includes a lot of young Jewish, liberal, and Democrat people...
..He ends on a similar conclusion to my own—that there is a small window remaining:
"Biden has a very short window within which he can cut off Netanyahu before he can carry out his apparent war aim to depopulate Gaza and carry the conflict to Lebanon and possibly beyond — a conflict, in other words that could very well drag American forces into another endless Middle Eastern war. A quick and decisive decision, combined with real diplomacy to exploit the crisis and craft a workable solution to 75 years of Israeli-Palestinian conflict, would recover America's reputation." ...   This brings up one last potential explanation for the new bombshell announcements that the US may leave Syria and Iraq: it could be a threat to Israel. Since Israel does not take any other type of plea into consideration, the only remaining avenue for the US may be to simply threaten to ditch the region, with the attendant loss of direct regional military support to Israel. In short: stop your escalations or we’ll leave you hanging to fend for yourself against this emergent Iran. And some within the state department and military may be outright pushing for the total withdrawal simply to keep the US from being embroiled in a larger war they know is unwinnable.

Israel loses control of its bordersIn past wars, Israel was able to establish buffer or security zones inside enemy territory. But Tel Aviv's adversaries have flipped the map today, forcing the occupation state to evacuate its own borders — perhaps permanently.
Today, Israel is horrified to find itself retreating from direct confrontation lines with its arch-enemies in Gaza and Lebanon. The formidable capabilities of the resistance now include drones, rockets, targeted projectiles, tunnels, and spanking new shock tactics, casting doubt on the feasibility of Israeli settlers remaining safe in any of Israel's border perimeters.
There is now one common refrain among settlers in the north and south of occupied Palestine: “We will not return unless security is restored on the border.”
But prospects for their return appear elusive at present. The Israeli Defense Ministry, which pledged a swift and decisive war to safeguard its settlers over 100 days ago, is now actively devising plans to shelter approximately 100,000 people along the northern border, deeper inside its territory. This measure could involve evacuating settlements that may come under fire during any future military escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

ICJ says to rule on 'Israel' Gaza genocide case on Friday
The International Court of Justice in The Hague is set to announce its verdict on Friday in a pivotal case accusing the Israeli occupation of genocide in Gaza.
South Africa has brought "Israel" before the court, alleging violations of the UN's Genocide Convention. The case revolves around the Israeli occupation's military campaign in Gaza ongoing since October 7, which has thus far killed more than 25,000 people and wounded over 63,000 others.
The International Court of Justice has the authority to issue "provisional measures," emergency orders aimed at safeguarding Palestinians in Gaza from potential breaches of the convention. These orders are legally binding and cannot be appealed, though enforcing them poses a challenge.
This is what the ICJ will be issuing a ruling on instead of the genocide allegations, which could take years to come to fruition.

More Paul Craig Roberts , The United States Has No Borders
The 5-4 decision by the Supreme Court forbids Texas from protecting its borders, and thereby the borders of the United States, from being overrun by immigrant-invaders.  We often hear that the Supreme Court is a Republican court, but in actual fact it is a Tower of Babel Court committed to the total destruction of the United States as a nation. What the Supreme Court, like the Biden Regime, the whore media, the anti-American Woke universities, The Rino Republicans, and the Democrat attorneys general and prosecutors are creating is a non-nation, a tower of babel that has no common interests, no common morals, no common religion, and no common agenda.  This is the SATANIC CURSE of “diversity and multiculturalism.”
How did Americans fall for a program designed FOR THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION?! They fell for it because they are generous and weak-minded.
The Daily Caller reports: “federal Border Patrol agents began cutting wire fences that, among other uses, helped channel individuals— unlawful migrants and U.S. citizens alike—to a lawful border crossing at a port of entry,” Texas Solicitor General Aaron Nielson wrote.
“Border Patrol began this practice of destroying Texas’s property, according to the district court’s findings, in order to ‘facilitate the surge of migrants into Eagle Pass,’ using boats to ‘literally usher’ people across illegally.”
In other words, the Biden Regime cut the fence in order to allow entry into the US that could not be monitored.  The fence was in place to insure that immigrant-invaders had to pass through lawful border crossings, where their numbers are allegedly recorded.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has refused to back down in his border-security row with US President Joe Biden’s administration, arguing that regardless of this week’s Supreme Court ruling in Washington’s favor, his duty to protect his constituents “supersedes” any federal laws.
Abbott issued a statement two days after the Supreme Court ruled that federal Border Patrol agents must be allowed to remove the concertina wire that the state had installed to prevent illegal aliens from crossing its border. The dispute escalated earlier this month when the Texas National Guard seized control of a park at a key border-crossing point and blocked federal officers from accessing the site.
“The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the states,” Abbott said on Wednesday. “The executive branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting states, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them.”

Why is the West’s mainstream media ignoring the farmers’ revolt?
The farmers’ protests are akin to the peasant wars that have deep roots in European history, writes economist László Bogár for the Magyar Hírlap daily  (Hungarian)
“No fuel, no food, no future” — that is the slogan most often used by German farmers, obviously in English because it was the only way to get mass exposure of their current plight.
However, you’d be forgiven for missing the protests raging across Germany — and in many other countries this past week, including Romania and France — due to the mainstream media’s apparent disinterest in the farming revolution, with producers seemingly given particularly strict instructions on what to, and what not to report.
The existence of protests unfolding throughout Europe appeared to be under some form of media embargo. Perhaps it might be worth considering why.
It is true in general, but in post-WWII Europe in particular, which was in a rather dire situation, it has proven true many times over that food supply is perhaps an even more delicate and important strategic sector than heavy industry.

French Mercenaries Dying in Ukraine: The West Encourages the Enlistment of Militants to Fight on Kiev’s Side
Paris is believed to be secretly encouraging large numbers of mercenaries to join Kiev’s forces, especially after political events in the African Sahel
..Recently, Russian forces bombed military facilities in Kharkov, killing more than sixty foreign mercenaries, most of them French. The case gained great attention in the media for showing the high participation of foreign troops in hostilities against Russia, which makes it clear that NATO countries are participating in the conflict in an intense way, not only with the mere sending of money and weapons...
..These soldiers, especially those from NATO countries, help the Western bloc acquire real direct combat experience with Russian forces – preparing the alliance for a possible future scenario of total war.
Currently, the Atlantic military alliance cannot send official troops to Ukraine, as this would represent the start of a direct war with Moscow. The real meaning of the conflict in Ukraine is precisely the use of Kiev as a proxy to wage war against Russia, however this could change in the future. As Ukraine rapidly loses and anti-Russian paranoia in the West continues to grow, it is possible that the situation will become out of control at some point. In this sense, one way for Western countries to prepare is by sending unofficial troops to the Ukrainian battlefield, where frictions with the Russians are already occurring...
..With the recent wave of pro-Russian revolutions in African countries, the French sphere of influence on that continent has been severely diminished. Paris appears to be trying to “compensate” for its frustration in Africa with massive support for Kiev, sending large numbers of mercenaries to defend the regime. This is also the opinion of Stevan Gajic, an analyst at the Institute of European Studies in Belgrade, who recently said in an interview that Macron is “hysterical” about Russia.

The Ilyushin-76 was carrying 65 Ukrainian POWs to what should have been their exchange for Russians held by the Ukrainian side when it was hit by several ground to air missiles launched by the Ukrainian armed forces. The flight details of this plane had been provided to Kiev by the Russians in advance and there can be little doubt that its destruction was premeditated and ordered at the highest levels of the Kiev regime.

..“The case in particular puts Zelensky in difficulty. This case could be an element that internal opponents could [use] against the current leadership,” Graziani suggested.
Russian military analyst Alexei Leonkov agreed, saying Ukraine’s ‘Western partners’ may have been involved in the attack in an attempt to break off one of the last communication links between Kiev and Moscow in the form of prisoner exchanges. “I believe this was an operation prepared ahead of time. Because the Ukrainian air defense system fired without turning on its radar, that is, fired using external target designation means. Such means are possessed by the Americans and the British, who are now factually managing the conflict in Ukraine,” Leonkov told Sputnik...
..“Zelensky will survive this, but it is setting him up for a fall at any time the USA chooses,” international relations and Russian affairs analyst Dr. Gilbert Doctorow said, agreeing that the shootdown undermines Zelensky’s position.

Ukraine should be designated as a “terrorist state,” and the government in Kiev should be branded a “terrorist cell,” the head of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov has insisted, following the attack on an IL-76 military aircraft in Russia’s Belgorod Region.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian military transport plane crashed near the village of Yablonovo, around 90km from the Ukrainian border. It was carrying 65 captured Ukrainian military personnel for a prisoner swap, as well as six crew members and three people accompanying the POWs. It is believed that there are no survivors.
According to Kartapolov, Kiev was well aware of who this plane was transporting and accused the Ukrainian forces of shooting down the aircraft using what he claimed were “three Patriot or Iris-T air defense missiles.”

Implications Of Energy Cannibalism

 Cooking With Gas,

Periodically I revisit the 1972 "The Limits To Growth" systems-analysis work, not an economic analysis, but an analysis of the human global industrial economic system within the finite context of our planet. I learned about this almost exactly 50 years ago in 10th grade Sociology class. The Arab Oil Embargo to the US was underway from the 1973 Yom Kippur war, greatly affecting the US. I was in Japan, but everybody was fully aware that there was not enough oil, that it was finite, and that industrial economy depended upon it.
The Honest Sorcerer looks at a 2023 update of that analysis, through the World-3 model, and includes the familiar B.A.U. (business as usual) graph of global inputs to and outputs from human industrial economy.
I will point out that the global industrial output seems to have peaked in late 2018 or early 2019, both from the graph, and other analysis I have seen. This was likely a contributor to the September 2019 "Repo-Crisis", and the "necessary" going-direct cash infusion to TBTF financial institutions like BlackRock (which managed it) during COVID lockdowns.
The power/financial elites need to maintain their own control of the system as a first priority. We need the system, declining in total energy inputs, to continue to feed us, provide heat, fresh water, cooking fuel electricity and complex communications systems to coordinate all of that. 2024 may bring the return of the GFC, which was never repaired in 2008. The elites "need" to cull a lot of the human population without incapacitating industrial economy. War breaks too much, which can't be rebuilt this time, so wars should only be carried out on the territory of competitors. Disease and famine, as well as cutting off communications, electricity, water and fuel to one area at a time are all in use already.   Financially, the comfortable 10% will take a massive hit with the resumption of the financial crisis. We have seen how nobody "owns" their stocks and bonds, and that it is a Ponzi scheme, with derivative-casino gamblers having super-seniority claims upon collateral-assets ("your" wealth). Get out of debt in order to "own" anything.
  2025: A Civilizational Tipping Point
There is a growing body of evidence that the 2024–2030 period will present us with a critical juncture, upending a centuries long era of economic growth. No, it will have nothing to do with climate change or novel viruses: those two will come somewhat later. Missing entirely from mainstream discourse there is a greatly overlooked side of our predicament, which will set a nice little ‘game of musical chairs’ in motion most probably around 2025.
We live in a supermassive complex system, often referred to as modernity, industrial civilization, or the world economy. This enormous organism has a life of its own, with its own inputs (resources) and outputs (pollution), as well as its own lifecycle. It is something best understood through the lens of systems dynamics, a modelling method developed in the late 1960’s. The first results were published in 1972, in a study titled Limits to Growth...
..The latest iteration of these follow up studies was titled Recalibration23, published in November 2023.

..Just concentrate on the continuous lines: as resources (pink) go down and deplete, both industrial output (red) and food production (green) goes through a tipping point and starts to decline. As a result world population (orange) peaks and dwindles. Pollution (blue) will keep rising though as people go back to less clean technologies and burn just about everything they can put their hands on to stay warm in the winter...
,,The authors of the study conclude:
Like the [Business As Usual] scenario of the [Limits to Growth] publication, the new scenario Recalibration23 reflects the overshoot and collapse mode due to resource scarcity. […] Here, the model results clearly indicate the imminent end of the exponential growth curve. The excessive consumption of resources by industry and industrial agriculture to feed a growing world population is depleting reserves to the point where the system is no longer sustainable. Pollution lags behind industrial growth and does not peak until the end of the century. Peaks are followed by sharp declines in several characteristics. This interconnected collapse, or, as it has been called by Heinberg and Miller (2023), polycrisis, occurring between 2024 and 2030 is caused by resource depletion, not pollution. The increase in environmental pollution occurs later and with a lower peak...
..Oil is still the master resource, making all other energy and mineral resources available. Mining, agriculture, construction, long distance transport, plastics, all hopelessly depend on petroleum. Hydro, nuclear and “renewables” are also made possible by using diesel and gasoline burning vehicles to bring people, raw materials and equipment on site. Should the availability of oil decline, it would eventually bring all other resources and energy production down with it...
..The Journal of Petroleum Technology, the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ flagship magazine has published an article in 2023 saying just that:
“Energy necessary for the production of oil liquids is growing at an exponential rate, representing 15.5% of the energy production of oil liquids today and projected to reach a proportion equivalent to half of the gross energy output by 2050 (Delannoy et al. 2021).
When the energy required for the extraction and production of these liquids is taken into account, the net-energy peak is expected to occur in 2025 at a level of 400 PJ/d [1]. In the foreseeable future, the energy needed to produce oil liquids could approach unsustainable levels, a phenomenon called “energy cannibalism.”
The concept of energy cannibalism is becoming increasingly relevant, as mounting energy use in oil production means the very resources needed for the transition to renewable energy may be constrained, particularly when viewed from a net-energy perspective and in terms of economic growth.”...
..And it’s not only about net energy, but the overall availability of oil (3). For most of the second half of the 20th century, oil companies were finding more crude than global consumption, around five times the demand volumes. This ratio of discovered resources versus demand has dropped in recent decades, and is now at around 25%. (This means, that we burn four times as much oil every year than what we find.)...
..Knowing how petroleum output affects everything we do, the significance of passing this civilizational tipping point cannot be overemphasized. Again, this has very little to do with subsidies or finance: we are about to pass a point of diminishing returns from an energetic and geological perspective...
..We will be in completely uncharted territory. Once again to cite the authors of the Recalibrate23 study:
"However, it is important to note that the connections in the model and the recalibration are only valid for the rising edge, as many of the variables and equations represented in the model are not physical but socio-economic. It is to be expected that the complex socio-economic relationships will be rearranged and reconnected in the event of a collapse. World3 holds the relationships between variables constant. Therefore it is not useful to draw further conclusions from the trajectory after the tipping points. Rather, it is important to recognize that there are large uncertainties about the trajectory from then on."
Talking about the “rearrangement of complex socio-economic relationships…” How about the end of the unipolar world, and the rise of new trading blocks (BRICS+)? Perhaps a global conflict over who gets to burn the last barrels of oil available for export? Or a major financial meltdown upending the current financial system? ...
..After a few years perhaps a decade into this crisis-mode, it will no longer be possible to uphold current institutions and large political structures. The reasons, as always: the gap between interests too wide, the costs of maintaining central control too high...
..Every civilization — ours included — grew by living up its one time inheritance, be it fertile topsoil or petroleum, overshooting both the natural carrying capacity of its environment and the non-renewable resource base it relied on. Then, as resources got depleted below a critical level, they all went through their respective phases of collapse.

Utility Bill Debt For Americans Hits Record As Heating Homes Now Seen As Luxury  (It's a really-good luxury. Might die without it.)

Surplus Energy Economics looks at one aspect of the unfinished global financial crisis, which is the dependence upon $US for global trade and investment flows. The US extracts value from the rest of the world through this neocolonial financial system. This is being bypassed, and will be bypassed more and more as the rest of the world acts to reduce their own losses to the trade and investment system. A BRICS-Currency is not required. This already happened with Russian oil and gas. It is progressing.
How will “exorbitant privilege” end?  THE WHY AND HOW OF DE-DOLLARIZATION
Geopolitics aside, the critical issue is the flip-side of “exorbitant privilege”. This is the cost imposed, through the market dollar under-valuation of their output, on other countries in general, and EM economies in particular.
As we shall see, it can be calculated that the rest of the world gets only $0.54 for each dollar-equivalent of economic value that their countries produce. Put the other way around, we can calculate that the market dollar is over-valued by about 85% in relation to underlying value in the world outside the United States.
What we should expect to see is a rolling shift towards bilateral and multilateral trade and investment in currencies other than the dollar. Beginning with oil, this can be expected to move on to natural gas, chemicals, minerals and agricultural commodities.

"Israel" has been a colonial outpost of the western financial order put in place at the end of WW-2, keeping oil-producing countries in disarray, subject to price and production controls imposed by the US and allied interests. There is now a strong desire in the neo-colonialized world to break this point of leverage by ending the apartheid state arrangement of "Zionism". This is complicated by the political and financial power, especially spy-power, wielded by Israel in the western system, and by Israel's nuclear weapons policy, the Samson Option, to nuke all regional and global centers of power if their regime is about to be defeated.
Russia's Push for Palestinian State Can Help Stop Endless 'Loop' of Regional Violence
A lasting resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli crisis is the keystone to regional stability, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
“The main focus of efforts should be the creation of a Palestinian state in full compliance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. The state described in these decisions would be competent and would exist in security and good neighborliness side by side with Israel and other countries in the region...  I hope that the Israeli leadership will eventually come to this conclusion…Without the establishment of a Palestinian state, there can be not reliable security for Israel."...
..Washington’s intransigence and blind support for Tel Aviv is another problem, Al Ibrahim said, pointing out that unlike in the case of Iran-Saudi normalization, where China was able to swoop in last year and mediate a surprise normalization deal, in the case of Palestine-Israel normalization a third country coming in and finding a resolution seems impossible. This will be the case so long as the US decides that it “cannot let their favorite ally, Israel, go,” even if it means jeopardizing their position and moral standing vis-à-vis the rest of the world...
..“So if there is anybody that you can talk to on the street over here in Riyadh and you tell them, do you trust the United States’ diplomatic efforts in solving this issue, they would definitely say, ‘we don't’. So it's time for somebody to fill this vacuum, if the United States and Britain would let them in and solve this file. And it needs to start with the mindset of the Israelis,” Al Ibrahim summed up.

Lavrov calls for halt to Israeli violence in West Bank
It is necessary to halt Israel’s violence in the West Bank immediately, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at an open debate of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the Middle East.
"It is necessary to halt immediately the violence that is coming en masse, from the side of the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank," he said.
Focusing on "such disgusting ideas as the forced displacement of all Palestinians from their permanent places of residence" is particularly worrisome, the minister said, adding that "such a scenario is unacceptable."

As the graph shows, the proportion of Americans over age 16 with a disability has increased sharply since 2021: from about 115 in 100,000 (projected, shown by blue line) to nearly 125 in 100,000 (black line). During the height of COVID, the proportion was lower.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the rate is up 33% since the spring of 2021...
..The increase happens to coincide with COVID-19 vaccine rollouts, in conjunction with the similar magnitude of the rate of serious adverse events (SAEs) from the clinical trials.
