Forms Of Warfare

Distant Observers,

This Ukraine-War update from The Vineyard of the Saker points out that 4/11/22 was a bad day for Ukrainian forces in Mariupol, now kettled in the fortified industrial district, and subjected to increasingly harsh measures, like fire and water. Would you die by drowning or surrender in a 2 day time window? There have been massed break-outs, which resulted in mass casualties and mass surrenders.
Explored here is the evidence that Ukrainian military are very competent, perhaps better supplied than US military (recently) and quite likely more proficient in warfare than US military.
This implies (if true) that the US military would want to strictly avoid direct battle against the Russian military. It would be humiliating and bad for business.
I'll keep the hypothesis in mind.

SouthFront has a video and transcript of Ukrainian soldiers, who surrendered to separatists, reporting that they had been held captive by a militia unit, after refusing to shoot civilians who had been trucked in, and escaped at night when their guards were drunk. They were shot at by Ukrainian forces as they crossed the front to surrender, one wounded and 2 of the 8 killed. The wounded man is interviewed. The video has one man telling the story, and none of them look happy. It can't be taken as fact, but does fit with a lot of reports...

Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol are increasingly accepting the better option:
On April 12, the largest group of the AFU soldiers surrendered in Mariupol. Another attempt to break out from the trap in Mariupol, was confirmed.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 1,026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily laid down arms and surrendered in the city of Mariupol, near the Illich plant
151 wounded Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade were provided with primary medical aid on the spot, after which they were all taken to the Mariupol city hospital for treatment.

Western psychological-warfare operations appear to be exceptionally effective upon Americans.
70% now see Russia as an enemy, and opinions of NATO are much improved, as well.
This is partisan anti-western polemic, but presents important insights, like this, about the neoliberal/neoconservative beliefs vs the current reality taking place.
And we have to keep in mind that they REALLY and SINCERELY thought they would (finally!) break the will of the Russian people and that they know this long awaited and oh-so-sweet revenge-victory is slipping away from them – just imagine the rage they must feel.  After eight years of endless provocations, insults and “negotiations” the Neocons have FINALLY forced Russia to intervene openly, which was always the dream of the Neocons.  But what they did not expect (and neither did anybody else, myself included) was that instead of “just” liberating the LDNR from constant Ukronazi strikes, Putin chose to liberate the entire Ukraine and change the entire collective security architecture of Europe.

Americans Are “In Charge” of the War Says French Journalist Who Returned From Ukraine
A French journalist who returned from Ukraine after arriving with volunteer fighters told broadcaster CNews that Americans are directly “in charge” of the war on the ground.
The assertion was made by Le Figaro senior international correspondent Georges Malbrunot.
Malbrunot said he had accompanied French volunteer fighters, two of whom had previously fought against ISIS.

Moon of Alabama (German) explores the causes and players, and the motives which contribute to this war. A couple of interesting points:
If this two-level perception is correctly analyzed in its appreciation of the different actors with contradictory priorities, then it becomes crucial to understand that in the geopolitical war the US is the aggressor as much as in the traditional war on the ground Russia is the aggressor...
Towards the end of a talk with Gonzalo Lira former Marine officer and UN Inspector Scott Ritter disputes the potential for escalation. The Pentagon, he says, knows the real situation on the ground and that the Ukrainian army will lose the war. Neither NATO, nor the U.S. nor single countries like Poland have their forces configured in a way that would allow them to successfully wage war against Russia. They would need more time to get ready than Russia will need to win the war in Ukraine.  Ritter predicts that the Pentagon will overrule any escalation the Ukraine warmongers in the State Department and National Security Council may plan...   (I also hope Ritter is right.)

The finance ministers of the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have decided to create their own financial mechanisms to continue trade between nations of similar disposition.  Once the internal issues inside the BRICS alliance are resolved, and once the mechanisms are created, then other nations will be able to decide to join or not.  The great global cleaving will commence.

Only Ukrainian forces use these missiles, and they drop the solid-rocket booster from the warhead, so it lies along the flight path for inspection.
On April 8, a Ukrainian Tochka-U missile hit the railway station in the city of Kramatorsk. As a result, at least 57 civilians were killed, dozens more were injured.
According to the traditional scenario, immediately after the incident, the Ukrainian authorities sent foreign reporters to the town. However, this time the plan went wrong. The journalists filmed the serial number of the Tochka-U missile which killed dozens of civilians. They left no doubts that the missile was launched by the AFU.
The Tochka-U missile in Kramatorsk has a series number Sh91579:
(photograph of serial number)
The Tochka-U missiles, including of the Sh915 series, are actively used by the AFU on the Donbass front lines.
The following cases of the strikes with missiles of the same series have been recorded so far: (#6 are listed, also with photographs of serial numbers.)

According to bioweapons expert Francis Boyle, Russia’s accusation that Ukraine is conducting U.S.-funded bioweapons research appears to be accurate
If true, everyone involved is subject to life in prison under the (US) Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989
According to Boyle, the U.S. government and Pentagon have had a “comprehensive policy” to “surround Russia with biological warfare laboratories” and “preposition biological weapons” there for use against them.

U.S. Firm With Ties to WEF, DOD Implicated in Bioweapons Cover-Up
As evidence of a potential bioweapons cover-up begins to emerge, a company called Metabiota, whose founder is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader graduate, is gaining prominence...
Metabiota investors include In-Q-Tel, a CIA venture capital firm that specializes in high-tech investments that support or benefit the intelligence capacity of U.S. intelligence agencies, Hunter Biden’s investment fund, Rosemont Seneca and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), which contracted Metabiota to run operations in U.S.-connected labs in Ukraine.
In addition to having close ties to the WEF and its Great Reset agenda, Nathan Wolfe, the founder of Metabiota, has also served on the EcoHealth Alliance’s editorial board since 2004. In 2017, he co-wrote a study on coronaviruses in bats together with EcoHealth president Peter Daszak, Ph.D. EcoHealth worked closely with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China, where SARS-CoV-2 is suspected of having originated.

Persisting

Not Dead Yet,

Ellen Brown has been reading and thinking about the same fall-of-the-petrobuck issues as I have, and reading a lot of the same essays and authors. Thanks Dan.
(Do keep a lookout for anything by Sergei Glazyev, Russia’s foremost independent economist and former advisor to V. Putin.)
I leap to her conclusion that the $US losing global reserve currency status (we assume) is a blessing in disguise for the real American economy, and it will be, but not for Americans who live on limited and fixed incomes, like retirees. The $US must lose about 75% of its current buying power to re-equilibrate, and to pay off the 120% of GDP that the federal government now owes.
How will people live if their Social Security check is worth half of what it is now?
The cost-of-living-adjustments are designed to not-keep-up with inflation, as we know.
I will point out , as does Ms. Brown, that moving away from the for-private-profit "Federal Reserve" banking system, to a national central bank, not for profit, and representing national economic interests, would greatly soften that blow.  (Digital currency is the threat to individual free choice.)
Exorbitant Privilege or Exorbitant Burden?
If that (global commodity linked reserve currency) system succeeds, what will the effect be on the U.S. economy? Investment strategist Lynn Alden writes in a detailed analysis titled “The Fraying of the US Global Currency Reserve System” that there will be short-term pain, but, in the long run, it will benefit the U.S. economy. The subject is complicated, but the bottom line is that reserve currency dominance has resulted in the destruction of our manufacturing base and the buildup of a massive federal debt. Sharing the reserve currency load would have the effect that sanctions are having on the Russian economy – nurturing domestic industries as a tariff would, allowing the American manufacturing base to be rebuilt.
Other commentators also say that being the sole global reserve currency is less an exorbitant privilege than an exorbitant burden. Losing that status would not end the importance of the U.S. dollar, which is too heavily embedded in global finance to be dislodged. But it could well mean the end of the petrodollar as sole global reserve currency, and the end of the devastating petroleum wars it has funded to maintain its dominance.

The Russian Ruble is still weaker against the $US than it was before the (still present) 2014 sanctions, but stronger thanit was 5 months ago..
Despite sanctions the ruble is stronger than before the war. Why?

Graph of Ruble to Dollar over time:

Michael Hudson closes his most recent currency WW-3 analysis with this (and yes, what will support the Euro going forward?):
From its planning stages, U.S. diplomatic strategists viewed the looming World War III as a war of economic systems. What side will countries choose: their own economic interest and social cohesion, or submission to local political leaders installed by U.S. meddling like the $5 billion that Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland bragged of having invested in Ukraine’s neo-Nazi parties eight years ago to initiate the fighting that has erupted into today’s war?
In the face of all this political meddling and media propaganda, how long will it take the rest of the world to realize that there’s a global war underway, with World War III on the horizon? The real problem is that by the time the world understands what is going on, the global fracture will already have enabled Russia, China and Eurasia to create a real non-neoliberal New World Order that does not need NATO countries and which has lost trust and hope for mutual economic gains with them.

  Boycott Russia! ,,, Look, It's a Squirrel!
In the past week, the US administration has increased its imports of Russian oil by 43%, reaching 100,000 barrels a day.

Vast swathes of NATOstan have been corralled into behaving like a Russophobic lynch mob. No dissent is tolerated. The full psyops has de facto upgraded the Empire of Lies to the status of Empire of Hate in a Total War – hybrid and otherwise – to cancel Russia...
“Europe has chosen its fate. And chose fate for Russia. What you are seeing now is the death of Europe. Even if it does not come to nuclear strikes on industrial centers, Europe is doomed. In a situation where European industry is left without cheap Russian energy sources and raw materials – and China will begin to receive these same energy carriers and raw materials at a discount, there can be no talk of any real competition with China from Europe. As a result, literally everything will collapse there – after industry, agriculture will collapse, welfare and social security will collapse, hunger, banditry and chaos will begin.”...
Bucha allowed the disappearance of Pentagon bioweapon labs from the Western mediasphere, complete with its ramifications: evidence of a concerted American drive to ultimately deploy real weapons of mass destruction against Russia...
[This is WW-3 between 2 global economic models. May the better model "win" for awhile.]
What may be seriously in dispute is whether the U.S., after “the economic conquest of Europe”, will be able to “lock in African, South American and Asian countries”. The Eurasia integration process, rolling in earnest for 10 years now, conducted by the Russia-China strategic partnership and expanding to most of the Global South, will go no holds barred to prevent it.

Moon of Alabama has the story of a Ukrainian army missile, fired from Ukrainian held territory, that killed a lot of people at a train station, and is blamed on Russia, which has not had any of these outdated missiles for years. Parts 1 and 2. Lots of clear details, maps and photographs.
Ukrainian Tochka-U Missile Killed Dozens At Kramatorsk Train Station
https://www.moonofalabama.org/2022/04/a-ukrainian-tochka-u-missile-killed-dozens-at-kramatorsk-train-station.html#more
The publicly available evidence shows that the Ukrainian military must have fired the missile that killed some 50 Ukrainian civilians in Kramatorsk.
The only purpose of the attack I can think of was to create propaganda that, when distributed as 'Russian attack' through 'western' media, will create more military support for Ukraine.
Everyone who urges to give more arms to the Ukraine or who eggs it on to continue this war is guilty of creating impetus for more incidents like the one seen in Kramatorsk.

Russian military won't answer the phone these days, but it's ok, this news video from yesterday proves that General Cloutier was safely in Turkey and not captured in Mariupol, so there's really nothing to talk about, anyway. (The commenters are unkind to the nice young man who proves Cloutier is OK in Turkey.)

Veterans Today is sticking with the story that General Cloutier has not been produced in the flesh by the Pentagon, so presumably remains a Russian Prisoner Of (not)War:

On US relations with Pakistan over the decades, and recent attempts to unseat the recently elected nationalist Prime Minister:
“To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.” — Henry Kissinger...
The irony is that the US does not want to be a friend of Pakistan, nor does it allow any other country to be friendly with Pakistan. To understand  American mentality, the above-quoted saying of Henry Kissinger is a perfect example. The US might succeed in punishing Prime Minister Imran Khan, but the narrative he has left among the youth of this nation will remain alive. Pakistan will not bow to any foreign power and will resist any pressure and coercion. The US has been exposed and lost its credibility as a sincere friend. The US is neither friend nor well-wisher of any country or nation.

Jim Kunstler with perspective from the unhealthy core of empire:
Why ... is the head of the CDC, one Rochelle Walensky, still telling the public to vaxx-up and boost when the number of really grave adverse events associated with said vaxxes is so out-of-this-world, compared with previous vaxxes, that liability lawyers from sea to shining sea could be magnificently employed piercing Big Pharma’s EUA shield with fraud charges until the next ice age?
The VAERS program is front-and-center in Ms. Walensky’s CDC purview. Does she not cop a glance at it now and again? It will be fascinating to hear her testify in the Nuremberg-style proceedings that ought to come for America’s public health officialdom. Are they running scared at CDC, FDA, and Dr. Fauci’s NIAID? The waiting must be the hardest part. So much is ominously unknown. But despite official suppression and obfuscation of patient outcome data from the compromised medical establishment, all-causes death numbers are wafting out of the life insurance industry like the Furies from the cosmic darkness.
Is it true, as is hotly rumored now, that the mRNA shots lead uniformly to autoimmune deficiency syndrome? Ditto the alarming rise in cancer cases among the vaxxed… ditto heart damage, organ damage, grievous neurological damage? We’ll know a lot more about this in May and June, and it’s hard to imagine what the collective emotional reaction will be if all that turns out to be true. Never in history will so many face the prospect of an untimely death, and at the hands of such banal bureaucratic villainy. Will they just compliantly check out of this world, the same way they lined up for their vaxxes and boosters, or finally rage against that machine?
The latest venture in unreality these days spills out of Russia’s operation in Ukraine. The mind-fuckery over it sure seems advantageously amplified here as a cover for the tragic developments in the Covid-19 vaxx melodrama and other domestic torments. All the evidence suggests that our country’s leadership wanted this war to happen in the worst way. We set up the provocations in Donbas and let’er rip. It looks like the "amyloid" clogging up the blood vessels and organ tissues is Spike Protein.
When they made the mRNA "vaccines" they were worried that the body would not make enough spike protein, or for long enough, to get a good immune response, so they made sure that the mRNA in the cells, coding to make spike protein, would last longer than the Energizer Bunny, sometimes months... Ooops.

Verification

 Investigating Reports,

Moon of Alabama: The Bucha Provocation
The Bucha 'Russian' atrocities propaganda onslaught may have worked well in the 'west' but it lacks evidence that Russia had anything to do with it.
The former Indian ambassador M.K. Bhadrakumar calls it an outright fake...
..Even more surprising is that within minutes of the “breaking news”, western leaders — heads of state, foreign ministers, former politicians — popped up with statements duly kept ready and only based on the videos, seconds-long videos and a clutch of photos, ready to pour accusations. No expert opinion was sought, no forensic work was done, no opportunity given to the accused to be heard...
(Detailed Bucha timeline with links is included in this article.)
Gonzalo Lira, who is in Karkiv, has previously directed a professionally made movie. In this video he asserts that the main 'Russian' atrocity video, which shows cars driving down a street strewn with dead bodies, is of a professional high production quality that can only be achieved with high end equipment. He also remarks on additional evidence from the scenes that points to a false flag operation.Lira comes to the conclusion that the Azov Nazis have killed some people in Bucha that had been too friendly with the Russian 'occupiers' and are now blaming Russia for it.
Azov gangs are known for such atrocities. Based on the above timeline I concur with Lira's conclusion.

Questions Abound About Bucha Massacre
,  Joe Lauria
If there were to be a serious probe, one of the first places an investigator would begin is to map out a timeline of events.
Last Wednesday, all Russian forces left Bucha, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
This was confirmed on Thursday by a smiling Anatolii Fedoruk, the mayor of Bucha, in a video on the Bucha City Council official Facebook page.  The translated post accompanying the video says:
“March 31 – the day of the liberation of Bucha. This was announced by Bucha Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk. This day will go down in the glorious history of Bucha and the entire Bucha community as a day of liberation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Russian occupiers.”All of the Russian troops are gone", and yet there is no mention of a massacre. The beaming Fedoruk says it is a “glorious day” in the history of Bucha, which would hardly be the case if hundreds of dead civilians littered the streets around Fedoruk.
“Russian Defence Ministry denied accusations by the Kiev regime of the alleged killing of civilians in Bucha, Kiev Region. Evidence of crimes in Bucha appeared only on the fourth day after the Security Service of Ukraine and representatives of Ukrainian media arrived in the town. All Russian units completely withdrew from Bucha on March 30, and ‘not a single local resident was injured’ during the time when Bucha was under the control of Russian troops,” the Russian MOD said in a post on Telegram...
What happened then on Friday and Saturday? As pointed out in a piece by Jason Michael McCann on Standpoint Zero, The New York Times was in Bucha on Saturday and did not report a massacre...
..The Times said reporters found the bodies of six civilians. “It was unclear under what circumstances they had died, but the discarded packaging of a Russian military ration was lying beside one man who had been shot in the head,” the paper said...
In Bucha, the Times was close to the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, whose soldiers appear in the newspaper’s photographs. In his piece, McCann suggests that Azov may responsible for the killings:
“Something very interesting then happens on [Saturday] 2 April, hours before a massacre is brought to the attention of the national and international media. The US and EU-funded Gorshenin Institute online [Ukrainian language] site Left Bank announced that:
‘Special forces have begun a clearing operation in the city of Bucha in the Kyiv region, which has been liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The city is being cleared from saboteurs and accomplices of Russian forces.’
The Russian military has by now completely left the city, so this sounds for all the world like reprisals...
..[Friday], Ekaterina Ukraintsiva, representing the town council authority, appeared on an information video on the Bucha Live Telegram page wearing military fatigues and seated in front of a Ukrainian flag to announce ‘the cleansing of the city.’ She informed residents that the arrival of the Azov battalion did not mean that liberation was complete (but it was, the Russians had fully withdrawn), and that a ‘complete sweep’ had to be performed.”
Ukraintsiva was speaking a day after the mayor had said the town was liberated.

By Sunday morning, the world learned of the massacre of hundreds of people.

Press Briefing by Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia on the situation in the town of Bucha
The gentleman states that the Russian delegation formally requested a UN Security Council meeting on Monday afternoon, and requested it more than 24 hours in advance, and has been denied that meeting to present evidence which completely exculpates Russian military forces in the Bucha killings (and presumably implicates military forces which entered after Russians left). Such meetings have never been denied before. The current UNSC President is from the UK.

There is no need for an investigation or for Russia's "lies" to be aired...

Ukraine War Update from the Saker Blog (brief excerpt):
The powers that be know that once Mariupol falls, the Russian, Chechen, and DPR forces therein will be freed to immediately begin Phase 2 of the operation. And all indications from my analysis points to the fact that Phase 2 will be much more brutal and swift than what we’ve seen so far, for the following reasons:
Particularly after the pullbacks from Kiev, Sumy, Chirnihiv regions, and the injection of freed Mariupol forces, Russia will have more forces than ever concentrated on a much smaller area of operations. This will have a big compounding effect.
Freed from the constraints of large urban warfare, where the Russian forces are at a disadvantage, they will instead be facing the open plains of the western Donbass and Dnieper regions which favor the Russian force disposition in every way imaginable.

F.S. supplied this link to John Helmer, who got Russian Military Analysts to do analysis and explain the very unusual tactics and techniques used.
Part of understanding it is in changing some baseline assumptions. Russia defined the area of battle as extending far into Russia, and had large reserves just inside Russia.
Another consideration is that the Ukrainian military had been prepared for 8 years to draw Russia into a long, draining quagmire, like Afghanistan was.
The US could be certain of a Russian attack, because the Ukrainian army was prepared to invade Donbass AND Russia. The US miscalculated the Russian and has miscalculated the Russian ability to sustain a conflict, and seems to have overestimated the effects of global financial warfare against Russia above all. The Ruble is valued about where it was valued a month ago, back from the depths, similar to usual. This miscalculation may be the "own goal" for the empire.

Justifying War Escalation

 Reasonably Suspicious,

Is it time for false flag attacks to justify escalation of US involvement in Ukraine, or is the video-selfie of torturing captured Russians to Death by a Ukrainian soldier in need of some bad press against the Russians?  (Yes, there are further potential explanations.)
In this video Ukrainian forces show videos of dead civilians by the roadside in a town of Bucha, which they just recaptured from Russian forces, civilians with white armbands, and say the Russians killed them. The Ukrainian soldiers asserting this war crime wear blue arm bands, which signify support for Ukrainian armed forces. Guess what white arm bands mean.
This is supposed to hit the Western news Monday April 4.

Russia has moved forces from around Kiev, which were tying down Ukrainian armed forces in Kiev, and also attracting attacks from those Ukrainian forces. Russian forces are moving to the Donbass, and Ukrainian forces are also likely to move there. It is open farming country, not forested and suburban. It is a different battlefield.
The main military developments of the last days of fighting in Ukraine were the partial withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kiev and Chernihiv regions and their advance in the East of the country, taking full control of the strategically important town of Izyum in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kiev region, in the North-Western direction from the capital, the AFU took control of several towns, where fierce fighting continued for weeks. The Kiev grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed control over the cities of Borodyanka, Bucha, Vorzen, Gostomel, Ivankov...
The decision to reduce its military operations in the Kiev region was presented by the Russian side as a concession to Kiev aimed at the facilitation of the negotiation process between the two sides. The main goal of reducing the Russian military contingent in the Kiev and Chernihiv regions is certainly the strengthening of the Russian and L/DPR groupings in the Donbas region.
The decision to partially withdraw from the Kiev region is also due to the difficulties faced by Russian forces near the Ukrainian capital.
Russian troops suffered significant difficulties with logistics in this region. Russian soldiers stayed in field conditions for weeks, and had no opportunity to gain a foothold in the heavily destroyed towns in the suburbs of the capital after the fighting.

Ukrainian Journalist Finds Charred Remains Where Alleged War Crime Was Filmed
Ukraine’s commitment to the laws of war is being tested by how it responds to video that appears to show its forces shooting Russian prisoners.

From a few days ago. I have not watched the videos. The still images and descriptions are enough for me.
Two weeks ago, the United States government, State Dept., CIA and their allies in Big Tech, made a public announcement {Go Deep} that stated violence against Russians would be officially sanctioned by Facebook, Instagram and Google.  In essence, Big Tech said it was now okay for Russians to be targeted on social media.  Today, video footage is leaked showing graphic torture of Russian POW’s by Ukraine military units.

One of many insights shared by Michael Hudson in this interview/transcript
(The  free-ride of the $US financial regime has been to the imperial military, not the American people.):
Well, the United States has been getting a free ride internationally. So, much of the prosperity here has been the result of our not having to pay for our own military spending, not having to pay for many of the foreign investments that we’ve got that supply the US with low priced foreign raw materials. All that is being ended by President Biden’s policy, which, of course, the Republicans support just as much as the Democrats.
So, there’s really a political movement that is ending up impoverishing, I’d say, 99% of Americans. While the Federal Reserve saves the stock and bond market for the 1%, there’s going to be a huge squeeze that’s going to force, I think, most American families into debt leading to probably a close down of a lot of businesses just as you had the Covid crisis closing down a lot of businesses. You’re going to have the rising fuel prices, the rising food prices utterly force families into default and an inability to be self-supporting without either running into debt or selling their homes and becoming renters.

"Meet The New Resource Based Global Reserve Currency", Pepe Escobar (May I suggest: the "Golden-Petro-Ruble")
A new reality is being formed: the unipolar world is irrevocably becoming a thing of the past, a multipolar one is taking shape
The unilateral sanctions made dollars and euros worthless to Russia. Hysteria fits won’t cut it: this will be resolved – but under Russia’s terms. Period. The Foreign Ministry had already warned that refusal to pay for gas in rubles would lead to a serious global crisis of non-payments and serial global-level bankruptcies, a hellish chain reaction of blocked transactions, freezing of collateral assets and closures of credit lines.
What will happen next is partially predictable. EU companies will receive the new set of rules. They will have time to examine the documents and make a decision. Those that say “no” will be automatically excluded from receiving direct Russian gas shipments – all politico-economic consequences included.
There will be some compromise, of course. For instance, quite a few EU nations will accept to use rubles and increase their gas acquisitions so they may resell the surplus to their neighbors and make a profit. And some may also decide to buy gas on the go on energy exchanges.
So Russia is not imposing an ultimatum on anybody. The whole thing will take time – a rolling process. With some sideway action as well. The Duma is contemplating the extension of payment in rubles to other essential products – such as oil, metals, timber, wheat.

NATO's Internal Gold War (Brexit not yet all worked out, you say?)
Russia´s new rubles or gold payment requirements for any of its goods or services will necessarily prompt a major gold war between the UK and the EU probably resulting in NATO´s first-ever internal head-on gloves-off confrontation. After WW2 the idea was to keep Europe´s gold bullion safely away from the former Soviet Union and Josef Stalin, just in case. So decades ago current EU member states deposited most of their gold in custody at the Bank of England (BoE) in London. Now, the UK will dare to weaponize the approval of EU gold repatriation requests and other gold-related issues as a very convincing bargaining tool for lots of still unfinished yet most important Brexit business. So,
(a) Whitehall could indefinetly delay the EU gold delivery unless Brexit pending issues are agreed in favor of the UK.
(b) Or, quite simply, the BoE would not ever return such EU gold supposedly kept in custody for the past decades because it has been partially or totally sold off or loaned out or compromised as explained below with former UK Prime Minister James Gordon Brown knowing about it all too well.

"Events Like These Only Happen Once Every Century",
(Global financial reset time, like WW-1 & WW-2 ended the colonialist global financial regime. What's next? Lots of facts & details. Some political agenda.)
We are currently working on a project for an international treaty on the introduction of a new world settlement currency pegged to the national currencies of the participating countries and to exchange commodities that determine real values. We won’t need American and European banks. A new payment system based on modern digital technologies with blockchain is developing in the world, where banks lose their importance. Classical capitalism based on private banks is fading away. International law is being restored. All key international relations, including the issuance of world currency circulation, begin to form on the basis of agreements. At the same time, the significance of national sovereignty is being restored, because sovereign countries are coming to an agreement. The basis of global economic cooperation is joint investment in order to improve the well-being of peoples. Trade liberalization ceases to be some kind of priority, national priorities are respected, each state builds such a system for protecting the internal market and its economic space that it considers necessary. That is, the era of liberal globalization is over/

The Saker closes the 4/2/22 update with this:
"And the other thing is, Russia might have had trouble in heavily urbanized regions like Kiev and its outskirts (which are heavily suburbanized) because not only does it create very narrow killzones where mechanized squads are sitting ducks, but Russia seemed to greatly limit its airpower for fear of hitting all the un-evacuated homes everywhere. This made it extremely difficult to fight. But in the Donbass region, where it’s comparatively de-urbanized, mostly huge expanses of flat fields, farmland, small villages, it will play to all of Russia’s strengths – whereas the Kiev regions played completely to Ukraine’s strength, not only the heavily suburbanized areas but most of the region is heavily forested as well, which allowed the ‘partisan’ and guerilla tactics of the Ukrops to be much more successful than in the lower Donbass region of flat farmlands.
So I will stick my neck out and predict that the cauldron collapse will be more rapid than people expect now that Russia has made the decision to focus everything onto it. The troops are really chomping at the bit, attacks on their homeland (Belgorod), and the torture of POWs has boiled their blood."

Jim Kunstler closed his piece with this:
"Anyway, in case you’ve forgotten, the Biden family melodrama is actually a sideshow to the main event in the center ring right now: the collapse of Western Civ, starring the USA as a once-promising beacon of liberty and decency, now reduced to the equivalent of a homeless fentanyl freak gibbering about gender Marxism in history’s gutter. The scaffold of the economy is collapsing, helped along by “Joe Biden’s” foolish bid to disrupt global banking arrangements, boomeranging right back in Western Civ’s chops, as the supply lines to every conceivable precious commodity from fertilizer to rare earths — with oil in the middle of all that — get recklessly severed. Isn’t it bad enough that we no longer make anything in our country; now we don’t even have access to the stuff we might need if we ever actually considered making stuff again? On top of that, no food for you, O nation of whimpering simps, lost in your Tik-Tok raptures of virtual orgasm. March of 2022 sure was a humdinger. And, of course, April always begins with a joke, before the serious fun starts."

Ending Financial Colonialism

 Beset With Leeches,

Please excuse the lapse between posts. Real life work on our living system has taken all of my time this week. Commute between Austin and Yoakum is 4 hrs/day.
I have been working on the interior of the homestead, finishing the cabinet-plywood walls, placing insulation in the girders between upstairs and downstairs, getting ready for the precise placement of the gas wall furnace, split-mini AC unit and stove hood-vents before the sheetrock goes in.
I have also been building the permanent staircase to replace the pull-down attic ladder. I am having to mow every week again, and do weeding and further spring planting in the gardens.
I've replaced some fruit trees and have some seedlings to replace some of the avocado trees that succumbed to the hard and sharp freeze in early March, when they were starting to perk up. Seedlings that have gone through a cold winter in their very early days seem to do better than grafted trees, though some grafted types tolerate cold better than others.
We will have a garden party the Saturday before Easter, April 16. Pot luck; whip something up and come-on-down...

The first few articles are all big picture pieces on the failing western financial capital neo-colonialist system. The west has lent money at interest to buy commodities from the world, where commodity producers must use the $US and can barely squeak by. All profits go to the banks and higher level manufacturers that use commodities to make things like iPhones and Teslas, which do make profits. The main beneficiaries are the banks/financiers, who make lots of profit for lending money that they create from air (and faith).
This system has been in place since WW-2, and has been sustained by the US military, CIA, $US and before 1971, American gold. America still exports food, but American farmers are still bankrupt and suiciding, like in the rest of the world. Financial colonialism does not spare any commodity producer.
The "Non-Aligned-Movement" sought to break countries free of financial colonialism, but leaders got assassinated and countries got regime-changed. The desire to free countries from foreign extraction of their wealth, using a despotic elite class, is what led to the American Revolution (basically against the British East India Company).
The $US as the only currency to buy oil made American financial institutions rich, and kept wealth flowing to the US government to finance military adventurism to keep the colonies (Hi Libya!) in line. With the US military now losing face globally, and Russia/China starting to look like better guarantors of "protection" there are desperate actions by the "petrobuck empire" to punish challengers. These desperate actions accelerate the demise of the petrobuck-empire.
My back-of-envelope estimate is that the $US needs to lose 75% of its value this decade to pay off huge financial debts while the economy declines, and dollars come back to the US for wheat, soybeans, oil, and maybe some jet planes.
This will be very hard on people living in the US. The top 5% will lose the most, because they have wealth to lose. Many cities and states will go bankrupt.

Dan sends this interview with Michael Hudson, Author of "Super Imperialism", which I will excerpt a little of:
..It’s about neoliberalism. So when Richard talks about the tectonic shift? It’s really a shift between two systems. It’s between the United States pushing neoliberalism on the one hand, and countries following, let’s say, an industrial capitalism evolving into socialism, on the other hand. And all of this has already begun, just as President Putin has said, this war is not about the Ukraine.
It began a year ago when the United States started the war against Germany and Europe to haul it in. When President Biden insisted that Europe and especially Germany, has to block Nord Stream 2, what he said he has been saying for over a year now: that we want Europe to become dependent on American gas and oil and not on Russian oil, not only because we want the business of the exporting, but we want the ability to control the world oil trade...
..And it’s a 50-year perspective that goes back to the (1955) Bandung Conference in Indonesia. In 1974 when President Sukarno moved with India and much of the global South to create a nonaligned nations. The attempt going back way to 1974 was to realize that the United States was acting as an exploiter of third world countries, that it [U.S.] investment that did not aim at helping them grow, but just to siphon off what they could from their raw materials and to take over the government and make the financial sector the planning sector, not the government sector.
Well, the Bandung conference and the Third World were not able to go their own way because they didn’t have a critical mass. But the United States started a racist revolution in Indonesia. A million of Chinese were killed and the rivers ran red, I’m told, with ethnic cleansing. There was regime change the United States overthrow of Indonesia. It was the bloodiest internal conflict you could call it, or a fascist war, up to that time outside of Europe..

This has been the model ever since. And the United States continued to push the model. They thought they could do to Russia what they did to Sukarno, and they could do the same to China...
..President Biden has indeed got a regime change, but the regime change is in the United States itself. When Biden said last week, well, we’ve got to make America make a lot of great sacrifices to support the Nazis in Ukraine....
..That means that in the future, as America spends its money abroad, and from the 1956 and the seventies, the entire U.S. balance of payments deficit, the deficit that forced America off gold was military spending. That was produced all the charts in my book Super Imperialism.
And now this foreign exchange is going to be not recycled to the U.S. to support the dollar. It’s going to be spent on gold and on mutual currency swaps. Well, what that means is that the dollar no longer has the free ride, no longer has the free support...
..What the United States has realized in the last, I think, since World War Two is, you can control, where you don’t need to go to war with other countries.
You can control them financially as long as you’re willing to impose University of Chicago-style free market, meaning you have to kill everybody. Every academic professor who advocates an alternative, you have to treat the world like Chile. And what’s the free market realized in Chile. It is if you can kill every labor leader, every land reform or every intellectual, then you’ll have Margaret Thatcher’s dream. There is no alternative. And that’s the U.S. policy...
..So there’s an idea that you motivate people by hurting them instead of by offering an opportunity to develop. And the problem is that the United States strategists don’t know how to develop because they’re neoliberals. And the neoliberalism is all about grabbing unearned income, grabbing other people’s property, grabbing other people’s income without working...
..How are you going to support American living standards and voters? You can only get this by exploiting other countries by imperialism. And other countries are realizing, do we really want our economic surplus shifted off to the United States so that they can live well at our expense? ...
..America is basically the blob, the State Department, the C.I.A., the national security state, and its ideology is to shift economic planning away from government to Wall Street and other financial centers in England and France. And I don’t see that financialization and neoliberalism changing. That’s their religion. And you’re going to have, instead of the reform that you’d like to see, you’re going to see an increasingly violent vicious fight against anyone proposing this reform, just as they fought against Allende in Chile and against against Cuba and as they’re fighting against China and Russia today...
..The United States? Again, there will be a polarization in the United States between the 1% and the 99%. The 99% what you call the economy, of course, will suffer and the 1% well, will increase their power over the 99%...
..I talked to officials in the U.S. Treasury. They say we can simply buy foreign politicians, we can simply pay them. When you say Europe, what you really mean are the foreign politicians that are getting enormous financial support from various U.S. State Department agencies and they’re after all opportunists...
..Now, that whole foreign dollarized, foreign trade policy, finance is going to disappear for American banks. They may make a lot of money on the arbitrage. Trade economies fall apart, but you’re also going to have a huge third world southern hemisphere debt crisis this summer.
If what we’ve described for American consumers is true of Latin America and Africa and other countries that have to pay more money for their oil, more money for their food, they’re not going to have enough money to pay for debt. So there are going to be huge debt defaults occurring, and that’s going to traumatize the world market...

Mish Shedlock
Some reports say Putin backed down on his demand for rubles for energy. Those reports are essentially wrong...
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed to Vladimir Putin's clever way around the problem of rubles payments.
The EU will pay in euros and via a separate account at Gasprom, the euros are immediately converted to rubles...
In this case, Russia demands rubles and get them via immediate conversion from euros or in some cases US dollars, depending on the contract...
Russia gets paid and Gazprom is protected from sanctions.

Tom Luongo:, excerpted: (Ruble prices of gold and oil are now both aligned AGAINST the $US)
I don’t think everyone has yet caught the significance of Russia announcing they are putting a floor under the price of gold.  But, to be clear, Russia just broke the paper gold suppression scheme...
..Davos’ power rests on the ability to create credit and sell it at a positive interest carry to commodity producers... Selling them debt... ultimately sucks all the profit out of the venture...
..If the banks are on both sides of the trade setting the price of money, then they ultimately control who wins and who loses while this goes on...
..In this respect the current financing of these industries is nothing more than a virtualized version of the colonial economic model of the 15th through 19th centuries...
..The producer countries of all the mineral wealth in the world are nothing but debt slaves to the money masters in Brussels, City of London and New York...
..The whole Great Reset is a way to crash the existing system but leave the same colonialists in power legally...
..When you understand that dynamic now you can understand why Russia, in particular, is the vanguard of the Global South’s desire to change the System of the World...
..Coupled with Putin demanding ‘unfriendly countries’ paying for their Russian imports with either gold or the ruble, the natural choice is for them to buy rubles until such time as the price of gold and the ruble are in sync on international markets...
..Do you hear that Davos? That’s the sound of the ticking clock...
..We now have a full gold/bitcoin/ruble (and soon Yuan) interconversion system that completely and utterly cuts out Davos and destroys their colonial debt model while also taking away their power to crash economies through hot money in and out flows...
..The war is over folks.  Russia, China and the rest of the Global South have already won...
(Except there is still that military-war card to play...)

Maajid Nawaz:
President Biden confirmed to business leaders that we are at an inflection point, and there will be a New World Order. For some reason, he felt the need to couple this announcement with the number of people that he believes usually die when such historic turnings occur: 60 million.
It’s not rocket science. World Orders are built around the financial system. Historically, this would usually only change through war. By way of example, the end of World War II heralded the creation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), agreed at Bretton Woods. This established the modern financial system by linking global currencies to the US dollar and - at least until 1971 - the US dollar to gold...
After 1971, and due to Nixon’s alterations, global currencies remained linked to the US dollar, but the US dollar was pegged to absolutely nothing. This is how - right up until now - the US Federal Reserve had a monopoly on global monetary policy...
..Central bankers are clamouring to fend off the advancement of decentralised currencies so as to maintain their global control, by creating their own centralised alternative: Central Banking Digital Currencies (CBDCs).
Due to greed, corruption and unaccountability leading to the cover up of global mass-embezzlement, our current financial system is in its death-throes.

Gradually, Then Suddenly, Jim Quinn, The Burning Platform
The United States has been going bankrupt gradually for the last fifty years, financially, intellectually, and morally.
Nixon closing the gold window in 1971 and opening the debt door to morally bankrupt bankers and politicians set in motion a downward spiral accelerating at hyper-speed as we speak. The American Empire was born in the shattered global debris of World War II with the Bretton Woods agreement, which left the USD as the dominant currency in world trade, specifically as the settlement currency for all oil transactions...
The empire has been sustained by currency supremacy, military might, and until 1980, manufacturing superiority...
..Now we approach the existential financial crisis which could initiate the “going bankrupt suddenly” phase of our empire of debt...
..There is no conceivable way this debt can ever be repaid, therefore it will not...
..The only unknown now is whether the debt is defaulted upon, it is hyperinflated away, or some sort of debt jubilee and currency collapse makes it moot...
..Those in control will position themselves to benefit from whatever scheme is implemented to eliminate the debt...
..Those controlling the levers of power know this shitshow can’t go on. They have fully exhausted their propaganda tools, financial derivative schemes, and monetary machinations, leaving them nothing but crashing the system and implementing a Great Reset, which would keep them in control and the rest of us in squalor and subservience...
..The key financial arrangement sustaining the American Empire, even as it internally crumbles from cultural rot, institutionalized corruption, and glorified ignorance of reality, is the global dominance of the U.S. dollar in trade. This is why the empire’s bankruptcy has been gradual and to many, unnoticeable. But Dementia Joe has accidentally, or purposefully as part of the Great Reset agenda, set in motion the rapid spiral into bankruptcy and collapse of the short-lived America Empire (1946 – 2022)...
..Trying to enforce this policy against Russia will be a bridge too far. And the consequences are already being felt. Biden’s sanctions against Russian energy are backfiring and will bring an end to the petrodollar regime.

Pepe Escobar, Mariupol may become a hub for Eurasian Belt And Road rail lines between Europe and Asia, as well as shipping to North Africa.
How Mariupol will become a key hub of Eurasian integration
Mariupol was battered by Ukraine's right-wing Azov battalion well before Moscow launched its military ops. In Russian hands, this strategic steelworks port can transform into a hub of Eurasian connectivity...
Amidst a flurry of testimonials detailing the horrors inflicted by the Azov neo-Nazis on Mariupol’s civilian population, a way more auspicious, invisible story bodes well for the immediate future.
Russia is the world’s fifth largest steel producer, apart from holding huge iron and coal deposits. Mariupol – a steel Mecca – used to source coal from Donbass, but under de facto neo-Nazi rule since the 2014 Maidan events, was turned into an importer. Iron, for instance, started to be supplied from Krivbas in Ukraine, over 200 kilometers away.
After Donetsk solidifies itself as an independent republic or, via referendum, chooses to become part of the Russian Federation, this situation is bound to change.
Azovstal is invested in a broad product line of very useful stuff: structural steel, rail for railroads, hardened steel for chains, mining equipment, rolled steel used in factory apparatus, trucks and railroad cars.

Jim Kunstler reminds... "Naming Names"
With the Russian operation in Ukraine alarming the populace, you might have forgotten the late Covid-19 epidemic that provoked so much public hysteria and government policy overreach. Stuff happened during those two-plus years of Covid-19, and, even with Ukraine blaring from the cable news channels, Covid-19 stuff is still happening...
..But so many other things just happened with Covid-19, rather serious things, and no one has had to answer for them, certainly not Dr. Anthony Fauci, who just days ago talked up another booster shot of his obviously defective mRNA “vaccines.” Dr. Fauci proposed that despite a raft of emerging statistics from the life insurance realm that indicate a shockingly high number of mysterious all-causes deaths for people in the prime of life. Several conditions appear to be killing them: 1) blood clotting in the capillaries of various organs, apparently caused by the “vaccine’s” main active ingredient, spike proteins; 2) heart inflammation (pericarditis and myocarditis); 3) a mystifying array of neurological afflictions;  and 4) switched-off immune system toggles, including the cellular mechanism for preventing the growth of cancers.
This developing picture of a public health catastrophe, growing more robustly detailed by the week, has somehow not alerted the general public, not least because the entire public health officialdom does not want them to know about it...
..There is the appalling and still on-going campaign to suppress Covid early treatment off-label drugs such as ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, fluvoxamine, et cetera, though the protocols have been proven highly effective in clinical practice as well as scores of internationally peer-reviewed studies. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died because these drugs were maliciously outlawed. In many states, doctors can be punished with loss of medical licenses for using these safe and effective drugs, or even talking them up.
Who exactly in public health was responsible for this suppression? Who gave the orders for it?

Dumbphones again, and why...

I'll have to catch up on other topics in another post.
