Anybody Driving

 Own-Ship Captains,

There are a lot of stories here today, mostly linked by the theme of the global financial economy being more and more of a distant lie, when compared to the actual physical economy, which it is supposed to reflect accurately. The ownership class in the world "owns" at least 5 times as much "wealth" as what really exists. The day of reckoning got put off in 2008, but that was an accident. I think most of us might be forced to take-more-losses than Bill Gates will.
Real global financial resets require the degree of global economic and societal control provided by world-wars. This scenario is being arranged, but it could also reset to a nuclear stone-age for the few people who survive anywhere. The cheap fuel and resources are running out and getting more  expensive, contributing further to real wealth falling farther and farther away from financial wealth.
There is massive pollution, but it is now located where most of us don't have to see it. There is global-warming from greenhouse gases, but there is no real-world way to change that, since oil and gas and coal are burned to keep real economy alive, which is what keeps people alive. A lot of us may have to move some day.
Some people's thoughts about there being too many people carry more weight than the thoughts of others, and those wealthy people like big solutions that they can implement widely, mass-produced solutions, solutions which preserve their agency, which keep them in the driver's seat.
We need to solve problems at a personal scale, to be more efficient at resource conservation and food-production ourselves.
We may have more useful insights into life on earth, as we go forward. We may adapt better. We might be able to help somebody we love.

Moon of Alabama (Germany) Drone Attack on Sevastapol
This morning at 4:20 local time the Russian fleet in the Crimean port of Sevastopol was attacked by nine unmanned aerial vehicles and seven autonomous maritime drones. Earlier a maritime drone that had run aground in Crimea and had been found and pictured   (in black spray-paint  finish option).
During today's attack a large U.S. drone had flown circles south of Crimea. It likely relayed data from and to the drones.
The maritime drones are British and Russia alleges that British specialists had trained the Ukrainian navy in using them. It also says that British soldiers were involved in the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline.

Final Draft on US Biological Activity in Ukraine Presented to UNSC

Statements from Russian Permanent Representative to the the UN pertaining to the US Biolabs in Ukraine. It appears that a formal investigation is inevitable.  Today United Nations Security Council (UNSC) carried out debate on the possible enactment of Article VI of the Biological Weapons Convention, which would be an investigation into the United States and their Biolabs in Ukraine.

When you look at the efficacy numbers on the graph, a positive number means the vaccine reduces deaths from viral-illness. A negative number means the vaccine is helping the virus kill more people, compared to those who are not-vaccinated. That is a well known phenomenon with vaccines, happened with all animal trials of coronavirus vaccines in the years following SARS, and has appeared to happen with these novel vaccine-products as well, since June 2021.
As time passes the vaccine-products change from providing mild reduction in severity of illness, to helping it kill people. "ADE '' antibody-dependent-enhancement of viral pathogenicity, like what happened with that Dengue vaccine that killed children in the Philippines when they caught Dengue. Thanks Jeremy.
The Myth of Protection Against Hospitalisation and Death Finally Debunked?
A new peer-reviewed study by researchers at Oxford, Edinburgh and Swansea shows the vaccinated are more likely to become severely ill and die from Covid-19

Senate Report: SARS-CoV-2 likely came from Wuhan Lab

Meryl Nass MD points out that the blame for the creation of the spike protein, which appears to have been spliced onto a fairly ordinary coronavirus, is already apparent in 2015 published gain-of-function work. Dr. Nass is sick with COVID, but taking the right medicines and supplements, and still blogging.
The limited hangout Senate Minority Report on Covid Origins
“What would have been truly damning, destroying any possibility of the pandemic having a natural origin, is if SARS-CoV-2 had been most similar to SHC014-MA15, the SARS-like coronavirus engineered by Ralph Baric in his infamous gain-of-function experiments published in the 2015 paper, “A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence.”

The "no-see-'em" technique still leaves specific fingerprints on the viral genome, where it is spliced together in the lab. They are just smaller and more subtle.
New Analysis of COVID Virus Suggests Fauci and Baric’s Fingerprints on Pandemic Bug
Critics have long questioned why the National Institutes of Health would fund experiments by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill professor Ralph Baric to develop a technique for hiding evidence of human tampering in laboratory-created super viruses.

One of the best and most published Cardiologists in the world is being stripped of his Cardiology and Internal Medicine board-certifications in a black box process. This is political retribution for his advising pregnant women and most people under 50 years of age against COVID-19 vaccine products, giving them informed consent on potential risks and benefits. This is the same position I took with patients before I was fired for refusing mandatory vaccination for COVID last October.
Dr. Peter McCullough is being progressively stripped of his medical credentials
Dr. Peter McCullough, one of the most respected doctors in the world, has been a beacon of light throughout this pandemic. His reward for speaking the truth? He's being stripped of his credentials.

A doctor who publicly questions COVID-19 vaccine orthodoxy is severely punished

This article is good, but it completely fails to mention hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, despite extensive research demonstrating benefits to individuals and large populations. It describes the Delta-and-prior SARS-CoV2 strains, not the Omicron and subsequent strains, which do not attack ACE-2 receptors in the blood vessel linings and elsewhere. Thanks Jeremy.
Endothelial dysfunction in COVID-19: an overview of evidence, biomarkers, mechanisms and potential therapies

It's not just that people find echo-chambers of shared belief systems, but that those echo-chambers are driven to resonate against each other, defining the groups further by making sharply antagonistic identity distinctions between rival groups.
How digital media drive affective polarization through partisan sorting
This paper suggests that this mounting evidence provides not only reason to reject the echo chamber hypothesis but also the foundation for an alternative causal mechanism. To propose such a mechanism, the paper draws on the literatures on affective polarization, digital media, and opinion dynamics. From the affective polarization literature, we follow the move from seeing polarization as diverging issue positions to rooted in sorting: an alignment of differences which is effectively dividing the electorate into two increasingly homogeneous megaparties. To explain the rise in sorting, the paper draws on opinion dynamics and digital media research to present a model which essentially turns the echo chamber on its head: it is not isolation from opposing views that drives polarization but precisely the fact that digital media bring us to interact outside our local bubble. When individuals interact locally, the outcome is a stable plural patchwork of cross-cutting conflicts. By encouraging nonlocal interaction, digital media drive an alignment of conflicts along partisan lines, thus effacing the counterbalancing effects of local heterogeneity. The result is polarization, even if individual interaction leads to convergence. The model thus suggests that digital media polarize through partisan sorting, creating a maelstrom in which more and more identities, beliefs, and cultural preferences become drawn into an all-encompassing societal division.

A Disordered World – Part 3: Pathways
..But a critical point is approaching. Economic growth is stagnating. Resource scarcity, climate problems and associated inflationary pressures are rising. High debt levels may prove difficult to sustain. The financial system is fragile. Global political, business and cultural elites are increasingly detached from the concerns of ordinary people. Geo-political tensions are high and the American-dominated unipolar world is under threat from within and without. The repeated shocks and loss of naïve confidence – political (911 and its aftermath), economic (successive crises), political (Brexit, Trump, rising populist authoritarianism) – are beginning to unravel existing structures.
But large systems do not fail quickly. British power has been falling for a century. The 1991 demise of the USSR can be traced back to Stalin’s commitment to unwinnable competition with an economically superior US at the end of World War 2.
While there are few clear markers, the internal contradictions of the existing order make instability likely. At the edge of chaos, the exact shape of any transformation is unpredictable...

Charles Hugh Smith: What Does Liberation Mean in the Real World?
Liberation in the real world is the result of self-reliance and investing in our own well-being.
Liberation has many contexts. It can mean being freed from imprisonment or servitude, freedom from gnawing want or oppression, or being liberated from prisons of the mind.
Note that the first form of liberation is external / material, the second is internal / psychological / spiritual. Many confuse the two, blaming an oppressive system for their unhappiness rather than their internal acquiescence to the system's narratives and values.
For many, liberation depends on the actions of others. If only we had different leaders, a different financial financial system, a different energy system, a different constellation of media, and so on--if only the powers that control our world were liberating rather than extractive.
The other approach is to accept responsibility for our own liberation within the system as it is
Demanding those benefiting so handsomely from the system as it is currently configured relinquish their wealth and power is not going to re-order the system when those benefiting from the system 1) have every incentive to devote all available resources to maintaining it as it is and 2) have an unshakeable belief that the system is so powerful (the state, the party, the central bank, etc.) that nothing could possibly destabilize their comforts, conveniences, wealth and power.

"They've started planting huge areas of blueberries in the subtropics like Peru and South Africa," said Thomson, who started growing blueberries in 1976.
"Their costs of production are so low that we can't compete."
Normally, said Thomson, 200 workers would have picked around 300 tonnes of blueberries this year with 50 more working in the packhouse.

Thanks Red.  Radioactive traces in tree rings reveal Earth’s history of unexplained ‘radiation storms’
We analysed radioactive signatures left in tree rings around the world to study mysterious “radiation storms” that have swept over Earth half a dozen times in the past 10,000 years or so.
Our results, published today in Proceedings of the Royal Society A, rule out “solar superflares” as the culprit – but the true cause remains unknown...

To archaeologists, radiocarbon is a godsend. After it is created, carbon-14 slowly and steadily decays back into nitrogen – which means it can be used as a clock to measure the age of organic samples, in what is called radiocarbon dating.
To astronomers, this is equally valuable. Tree rings give a year-by-year record of high-energy particles called “cosmic rays” going back millennia.
The magnetic fields of Earth and the Sun shield us from cosmic rays shooting through the Galaxy. More cosmic rays reach Earth when these magnetic fields are weaker, and fewer when the fields are stronger.
This means the rise and fall of carbon-14 levels in tree rings encodes a history of the 11-year cycle of the solar dynamo (which creates the Sun’s magnetic field) and the reversals of Earth’s magnetic field.
But tree rings also record events we cannot presently explain. In 2012, Japanese physicist Fusa Miyake discovered a spike in the radiocarbon content of tree rings from 774 AD. It was so big that several ordinary years’ worth of cosmic rays must have arrived all at once.
As more teams have joined the search, tree ring evidence has been uncovered of further “Miyake events”: from 993 AD and 663 BC, and prehistoric events in 5259 BC, 5410 BC, and 7176 BC...
..How do you get such a huge pulse of radiation? A flurry of papers have blamed supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, explosions from magnetised neutron stars, and even comets.
However, the most widely accepted explanation is that Miyake events are “solar superflares”. These hypothetical eruptions from the Sun would be perhaps 50–100 times more energetic than the biggest recorded in the modern era, the Carrington Event of 1859.
If an event like this occurred today, it would devastate power grids, telecommunications, and satellites...
..Most puzzling, a couple of the spikes seem to take longer than can be explained by the slow creep of new radiocarbon through the carbon cycle. This suggests that either the events can sometimes take longer than a year, which is not expected for a giant solar flare, or the growing seasons of the trees are not as even as previously thought.
For my money, the Sun is still the most likely culprit for Miyake events. However, our results suggest we’re seeing something more like a storm of solar flares rather than one huge superflare.     [Hey, what if something drops earth's magnetic shields sometimes?]

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, letting visible light through to the surface of the earth, but reflecting long-wavelength infrared (heat) back down to the earth, just as a glass greenhouse does. Emissions have long been increasing, but increased water vapor in the air helped break it down faster, so levels did not increase much. Methane emissions are increasing further and overdriving that breakdown process, so levels are rising now. Methane stored in soil, permafrost and suboceanic clathrates may be releasing more. This unfreezing of methane clathrates is a tipping-point which may rapidly increase global warming if it is triggered.
Thanks Jeremy. [There is a lot of controversy, but there are a lot of tipping points which could make our world much hotter quickly. I'm not saying that we can decide as a global population to prevent this. I think we can't, and that those of us who can should invest in coping with this.
